This restaurant is fabulous. From the decoration, ambience, staff, quality of service, etc. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with a smile. This was a quick stop as we were passing by and needed to continue our way. As soon as they learned we were on a time budget they went the extra mile and served our dinner in a timely fashion. Even thou they were busy our server came back a few times to check on us, which Ian something you don't get very often anymore. The food was awesome and priced right. We had the Moroccan soup, a veggie platter and hummus with beef/lamb. I ordered a lemonade to drink thinking it would be a regular fountain drink but it tasted like real natural lemonade!!! I think I might have just found the place that serves the best mediterranian food in Memphis (outside of someone's moms house) Our waiter was very friendly and even offered us some tea, their shawarma sandwich was very delicious and flavorful and the falafel were out of this world, so much so that we took some for the road. I love Casablanca's food so incredibly much. I typically order takeout from this location on my way home from work and it's always delicious and they always get my order made quickly and correctly. They have thrown in an extra free drink once in a while too just to be nice. Speaking of drinks, you MUST try their homemade tea (hot or iced) - it's to die for. I love their chicken shawerma and falafel as well, but everything I've tried on the menu is great. Pro tip- the hummus falafel platter with a side of pita bread is an awesome deal - almost as much food as one of the entree dishes but for a great price - perfect for a snack or light meal. The olive oil is reason enough to eat here! Get the hummus! Flavorful and smooth. It's like the grandma you never had made it. I wouldn't recommend the beef/lamb shawarma. I'm sure that it was accurate to the original flavors, so I won't hold it against them. If you aren't a big fan of a weird onion-ish taste for an entire meal, I would recommend getting something you are more aware of. Our waiter was also very humorous. I made a sarcastic joke about the tea being the "best in Memphis", in which he replied, "oh no, i am so nervous". Also! There is a carpet on the ceiling! So that's cool. read more

Gotta love when you spend $40 on a to go order , they hand you your order with the bag tied in a knot so you think surely it's ok so I'm not going to fight with the know to check it. You drive 40 minutes home only to find out that the order is wrong. So yeah my fault because I know better than to EVER leave any place without checking your order but then....I call to see if they can make it right & Im told I got what I asked for. Uh....no, if I got what I asked for, myself & my husband wouldn't be pissed about wasting $40 on food that won't be eaten & having to now find something else. Let me count the ways that I love Casablanca. HINT: IT'S A LOT. Casablanca is pretty much a gem of the middle east hidden in Memphis. The hummus and shawarma are to-die for. Plus, you can literally get a plate of just this. And the tea? Can we talk about the tea for a minute? It's fantastic hot or cold. And they literally bring you refills every time you take a sip. Plus they'll send you home with a big cup of it (do this!!!). Not to mention that the owner is a gem. He checks on every table. First of all let me say that the food was amazing as always. The service was even pretty good. Until the end when we received our bill and paid. The server returned with the check for us to sign and told us that he forgot to charge us for the drinks. I am literally pulling out of the parking lot right now after now being served for over 15 minutes. We were the only black couple in the restaurant and the other 3 tables were white. After we waited without any check ins from the staff, we got up and left. As we were walking out I noticed a new table that wasn't there when we arrived, white as well, they had already had appetizers. Unacceptable. This was my first visit and defiantly the last. I have been to both the Poplar and Midtown locations and have absolutely loved my food both times. First a shawarma platter and then a chicken salad. However, service both times has been meh. More so tonight at the midtown location. It took at least 15 min to get water after being seated, and another 5 to get utensils after our food came. I finally stopped by for lunch after having driven past it a dozen times. I immediately liked the charm and erstwhile authenticity of the decor. Also attractive was my stunning middle-easterner server. So far so good. I ordered lamb schwarma, small salad, fries, and a Turkish coffee. The schwarma meat had two things going for it you don't always see; it was tender, and it was juicy. And flavorful. And generous, tons of meat, could've easily split it. Salad and fries were fine, no complaints. I've had Turkish coffee all over the world, it's one of my favorite things. This one was very good. Hard to find Turkish coffee, so it was a real treat. The first thing we ordered is their hot tea which really does live up to its name (Best hot tea in Memphis). I kept asking for more refills. We tried the hummus platter, spicy feta dip, and vegetarian platter. The hummus was phenomenal and the peta it comes with is fresh and fluffy. The dip was yummy but spicy as the name indicates. The vegetarian platter comes with delicious falafel bites, stuffed grape leaves, steamed vegetables, and small spanakopita bites. Everything was amazing. Tried Casablanca for the first time tonight with a friend. We had the small mezza combo with extra falafel as an app. The hummus, baba ghannoush and falafel were all tasty. The pita was fresh and served hot. I tried the beef and lamb shawerma sandwich with a side of tabouli. I really enjoyed both dishes. The shawerma was difficult to eat as a sandwich, so I ended up using a knife and fork. I would definitely try Casablanca again -- overall an enjoyable experience. read more

Casablanca has found a fantastic new venue, while keeping the same great food. I had the mixed shawarma and hummus with pita chips and everything tasted wonderful. If you're feeling a bit adventurous or just need your sinuses cleared, try their special hot sauce. If the hot sauce proves too much for you, their yogurt sauce is just the thing to cool off you taste buds. I'm looking forward to my next visit to explore their menu even more. read more

Without a doubt the best Mediterranean/middle eastern food I've found in the area. Their hummus is great, and their shawarma is spot-on. Best thing about this place though is the service: they are polite and attentive ALWAYS. And they are open until 10pm. Atmosphere is great--perfectly decorated, has outdoor seating if you want it, and very peaceful each time I've been. The staff is extremely friendly. Love their mint tea (both the hot and cold versions). The only real room for improvement is with the stuffed grape leaves (dolma); they are okay but not fantastic. I also wish they had an affordable sampler that came with a little bit of all the dishes: bhaba ghanoush, hummus, dolma, etc, but the closest thing is a kind of pricey and huge vegetarian platter. One more thing: I like their bajaba ghanoush for the most part, but it is very different from everywhere else I've had it. read more

WOW!! This place is fantastic! Authentic, traditional and quality. The absolute best falafel I've ever had. Lentil soup had a wonderful flavor. I had the shaved beef and lamb Shawarma and it was fabulous, the sauces were full of flavor with just the right amount of spice. We hadn't planned on coming into town but I'm so glad we did.
