I think the Casano Community Center in Roselle Park is such an overlooked spot in town. Many friends I have spoken with in the past always thought it was simply a Senior Center,or did not realize all the great things they offer to residents. While it mainly advertises and hosts numerous Senior services and activities, is also offers many family /town friendly events and is a great place for information on both the Center itself( weekly schedules,events,ect) as well as around the town and in general. They offer help to town residents who may be struggling and financially tight via the Community Food Pantry once a week,as well as pamphlets ,brochures,and listings for other helpful services to those in need. Recently I was in need of some information ,and not only did Karen (The director) guide me in the right direction,she went out of her way to print /copy numbers for me,and offered extra assistance as well. They often host family friendly events ( such as outdoor movie nights in the warmer months,and indoor seasonal holiday parties) , and you can call ahead and rent for school and social events(Cubscouts, Girlscouts,ect ) . I have been to many wonderful free events with my kids and it is a great place for meeting and catching up with your neighbors ! They offer handyman services, bus trips to various stores within the county ,bingo, and their extremely varied monthly calender of events is available as soon as you walk in.
