Do not spend your money here until Purgatory does something about #357's temperature during the summer time. We would have been far more comfortable in a tent. A tent keeps out the mosquitoes and cools off at night instantly. This condo was warm in the night even with the screen-less balcony door wide open with a fan blowing *enter mosquitoes and cigarette smoke all night*. I understand they didn't design these places with summers in mind, but come on. A $300 portable AC unit would do the trick. We ended up paying about $250/night for this place. Complete rip off. Oh and some outlets and light bulbs didn't work. Reviews from at least a year about on booking.com say the same thing. Hasn't been fixed. Whatever entity is managing this property is getting away with a borderline scam. Purgatory needs to stop booking this place. Especially during the summer. read more

*** Cascade Village This is a beautiful condominium complex located in the mountain resort area north of Durango. It should be noted that it is not a hotel so adjust expectations accordingly. Units are individually owned and many have been updated or remodeled. Vacation rentals are usually booked through VRBO and AirBnb or other management companies. The home owners association has on-site staff that are incredibly helpful during the day, however this is not a hotel so there isn't 24 hour staff. The amenities offered are very nice. A year-round indoor pool, multiple hot tubs (indoor/outdoor), saunas with bathrooms, changing areas etc. The tennis courts are great and the gym is a bonus. With Durango Mountain Resort/Purgatory Skiing just down the road, driving or taking the daily shuttle service make it very convenient to enjoy skiing and snowboarding . There is an on-site Ski shop at Cascade Village which we used and were very happy with the equipment issued. We stayed here for 3 nights on our Fall break. Booking was easy, condo was very nice and updated. We were expecting much less for the price and were very pleasantly surprised. Flat screen TV with a DVD player and all modern appliances. We had a hot water issue because it was the off-season and they had turned off the thermostat. Go in October and you will have the whole place to yourself and can see the Aspen turn and even catch a few snowflakes. Very friendly staff... if you see anyone since it was kind of deserted. read more

We were a family of 4 doing a road trip tour of that area, basically that night just needing a clean and convenient place to sleep before going onto next adventure. It was clean. But incredibly inconvenient thanks to the fact they don't have ANY STAFF available after 6PM. We had just finished the Durango/Silverton Train Trip and entered the address into the GPS unit outside of the train station in downtown Durango around 6:30PM. It kept coming up as "address not found". We called and called. We called Priceline (whom we booked the trip through who had same issue.) My son found online the address listed as Silverton (not Durango) and sure enough, THAT came up on the GPS... and it was a good 30 minutes away from downtown Durango. So we rolled the dice as we had pre-paid the room. Luckily, it WAS the right property, but the office had closed at 6PM with no emergency number listed that I could see. Someone else who was needing to check in as well alerted us that there was a mailbox with envelopes with keys (sadly they couldn't find theirs). We got to the room and discovered that unlike every single other hotel we'd stayed in this two week trek... it only had ONE BED. In their defense, I could see in the Priceline fine print that the room was based on double occupancy, not 4. However, because staff was MIA, we couldn't even get another room. The closest hotels (are in Silverton mind you, not Durango) had zero availability. Forty-five minutes away, the cheapest rooms were nearly $200 and Motel 6 quality type ones (at least what appeared online). Floor was linoleum so that wasn't an option, but we did borrow two lounge chairs from pool (and replaced at 7AM) for a very uncomfortable sleep for two of us. I would truly have just let this go as a simple mistake and never written a single negative comment as the room was pleasant with a lovely view... I have very good friends in the hotel business so know things happen sometimes... but it is the fact that none of the calls we had left the night before were returned that makes me want to warn others. That says something entirely different to me, tells me this business lacks common courtesy!. Messages we left were sharing we couldn't find the place then another that we needed two rooms or one with 4 beds... You'd think they would have returned the call the next day. They really should have a staff person monitoring evening voicemails and available to assist in situations like ours. read more

My husband and I were married here in October 2012. It was such a mess dealing with the staff. The front desk had issues finding guests that had booked rooms and paid for them in their computer. One of my wedding guests, who paid for 2 nights, checked in and was only booked for one night. Another guest, my mom, paid with a credit card and ended up being charged for my sister-in-laws room. When I called Cascade Village to get it straightened out, they said they charged the correct person. No, they didn't. My sister-in-law never had a charge to her card but my mom did. Also, this place is NOT handicapped accessible. For my disabled family members to get to the room where my wedding was held, they had to get in the service elevator which was FILTHY!!! I had to have my kids scrub it because Cascade wouldn't clean it. And the rooms all have a ton of stairs to go up unless you get a 3 bedroom, but even then the steps from the outside through the front door were taken because they put them in storage. My grandma had to crawl in the door on her hands and knees! I had brought all of this up with Cascade Village and they were of NO HELP! I will not recommend them to anyone, ever! read more

Treat yourself to this wonderful condominium complex. We had a wonderful stay in our three bedroom three bath townhome + loft. Everything we could possibly want was provided in the condo. Beautiful furnishings, unbelievable views. We were nestled in the center of 14000' ft peaks. We enjoyed the pool & hot tubs. read more

Just don't do it. You can get a much better room in Durango for the money. We paid $200 for a tiny room with zero amenities. No where to eat or go out later. Their lack of information really impacted our good time. We were not told that we had to check in at the resort until we tried to check in at the lodge. The info on their sheets is wrong, Can't go tubing until 2 pm unlike what their forms say. You can stay in Durango and pay way less and get much much more. read more
