I first learned about Jade Integrated Health at a private open house event. I was so impressed,…read morethat I decided to return for a 1 hour massage on my birthday. They are located a little off the beaten path - in one of the building near the Portland Complex by the narrow gauge railway. When you walk it, you immediately feel a sense of calmness, as the environment just exudes peace. I checked in at reception 15 minutes prior to my appointment (per their request) and filled out a brief first time visitor form which allowed me to share some of the particular aches and pains that I'd like addressed during my massage. I was greeted by my masseuse, Nancy (also one of the owners), and we walked back to a nice room with a big window allowing for a lot of natural light. We chatted briefly about what I was looking for out of my massage and discussed key pain points for her to work on. And then, for the next 60+ minutes, I was in a perfect state of relaxation. At one point, I caught myself dozing off. This is not to say that the massage was light, as Nancy did a great job applying just the right amount of pressure, checking in at about the 5 minute mark and then letting me fall into my own zen-like state for the remainder of the time. My appointment was with at 11 AM and while it did start a little late, my massage still went the full hour. I'm looking forward to returning here and taking a full yoga class. I'm excited about this as they have a small space and limit the number. The idea of a more individual yoga experience is very appealing compared to the packed yoga studios I have visited in the past.

This is a truly exceptional place…read more I tore my MCL four months back, and as a runner, it completely destroyed me and my whole life. I felt like I had no hope. I was walking home from the bus station one day and saw this place. I figured, why not call? What's to lose? They immediately were so kind, took my insurance, helped me. My PT, Dahne, is absolutely incredible. She has helped me go from barely being able to walk, to being able to climb Katahdin and run seven miles. She has listened to my goals and helped me achieve them- and it's hard work, but she pushes me and teaches me about how strong our bodies can be. I have never met another person that has inspired me so much in my fitness journey. I am so, so grateful for her. I'm still healing- MCL still gets spicy- and I'm so glad I have Dahne to help me. Being a chubby girl with an injury is embarrassing. But I never feel judged here. I cannot recommend enough.

Everyone from Sunny the patient care coordinator who is so quick to respond to any question to my amazing PT Liz to the other staff and patients, they're all kind, patient and use the most insanely cool high tech equipment. So I went there two years ago (while still in high school) for some PT and I did like it a lot…read more Fast forward to now I needed PT again. So I had my doctor write a referral to this same place that I knew. Today I received a phone call from my old physical therapist and it was an awful way to treat someon. She asked me "so what's been going on?" I then tells her what has been going on. She then accused me of not following their compliance policy. Yes we had to cancel some appointments but I have IBS and I was still in high school. Come on people people change in two years. Don't go here if you're human a make mistake.

I literally couldn't walk for the first few weeks without excruciating pain, sciatic nerve jolts, and instant nausea. Pain meds did nothing (opiates included, despite my hesitance to try them). Med professionals, while helpful to some degree, couldn't give me a clear answer on direction of treatment--could get an injection, could get surgery, sort of up to me. They recommended I start with physical therapy, and I'm grateful for that recommendation--the spine specialist gave me the number to Back in Motion, in Portland, ME. I was skeptical. The space is in a strip mall on outer Brighton. The therapy space is shared with multiple physical therapist and patients. I worked with Dan S., and he quickly alleviated my concerns. Dan is thoughtful, smart, funny, and takes time to get to know his patients. He asks a lot of relevant questions and offers practical suggestions and feedback. We met weekly for about four months--I went from unable to stand for more than a few minutes at a time, to (on my last visit, recently) jogging laps around the parking lot, working on form and balance. There was a lot of work in between, but all of it was set in motion by Dan's guidance. He explained how each exercise would help in the strengthening and recovery process, and he built a customized program that worked for me. I incorporated his suggestions in my workout at the gym. Dan is the real deal. When my other healthcare professionals (chiropractic, nurse practitioner) asked about my PT progress, and I told them about the specifics of my plan, not only did they seem pleasantly surprised, they commended the direction of treatment and Dan's recommendations. How often do various wings of healthcare agree on anything?! Even though the space is a little small, and even though you might have to work around other patients, the staff is awesome, and it was well worth my time and energy. I highly, highly recommend that you give PT a try before you consider injections or surgery. And, if you go to the Portland, ME location (Brighton Ave), ask for Dan. You won't be disappointed.
