So I joined the huge crowd gathered in front of the store to buy cuts of German sausages (including…read moreplenty of types of blood sausages). She cuts them and weighs them, with selections like foie gras and many, many others (you can tell which words I can understand, and everything else I just pointed and figured if there's only a bit left, it's gotta be good right?) and reading up online how to cook them, I guess you boil them for like 20 min. Except... I never actually got to try the sausages, having missed my alarm and not wanting to miss my flight back to NY, and not able to bring back meat to the states... so sadly I had to leave them behind. But they looked good! (small chunks of like 4-5 sausages, about 6 euros)
I came to Maison Barat with hopes of finding a delicious baguette but was highly disappointed…read more Barat is quite famous for their baguettes and various other breads, so I decided to try one. I got a well cooked baguette, and it was not up to par. The flavor of the baguette was good, but the texture wasn't there. The exterior was not a crispy crust, it was very chewy and gummy. It didn't feel well cooked at all. I also got a chocolate bread, and that was amazing! The baguette was €1.40, and the chocolate bread was €1.60. The prices here seemed pretty average to me, so I was happy about that. They had samples of their focaccia as well which was tasty. I highly recommend coming for their chocolate bread, but not for the baguette.

The cheese offerings are very well and we were happy to come for the brunch amd will come back. They are happy to welcome kids, a great plus, they have high chair, toys and smiles for them. I dont give 5 stars for two things: I feel hot drinks should be included in the formule (at 25€) and it was a little cold in the place... It is true it is very cold these days in Brussels, but it should be solved. But, will go back happily!

If you've ever had the misfortune of seeing your little sister have a culinary orgasm, then you're brave enough to enter this store. The pastries are sooo good! The sweet cheese with rum soaked raisins... it's pornographic! Did I say I love this place? It's porn for your tastebuds. But the kind of porn that your willing to share with your loved ones. Even if you're not a connoisseur, you will be able to taste the difference between the cheese they sell at La Cremerie and whatever garbage you bought at Carrefour. The people working there are very nice and helpful, even if my cheese-related interrogative phrases in French are limited to, "How is this one?" and, "Is this strong or mild?" It's often a matter of trial and error to figure out which ones I'll like, but that's part of the fun. So far, my top go-to cheese is the fresh goat cheese stuffed with fig that they keep in the front window. Highly recommended!
Ah cheese... so delicious…read more On the suggestion of our guidebook, my husband and I stopped here on a sightseeing walk of Brussels to grab lunch. We opted to go with a few slices of cheese and a baguette, and it was so delicious. There is an overwhelming selection of cheese, and we really had no idea where to start selecting cheese to buy. The woman behind the counter picked two cheeses for us, a cow's milk and a sheep's milk cheese. Both were great and we finished them while walking around Brussels. Our lunch was a little pricey, but totally worth it, along with experience of buying local cheese in a lovely setting.

We went back again later in the week to try their sandwiches (the sell out so get there early in the lunch hours) and they were great as well. They take credit card so no concerns there either.
