Check in was easy, our campsite was clear, no bugs or refuse, and it was as easy walk back to he office with the showers and other general store type items. There was wooded space between the campsites - providing a sense of privacy. My only complaint would be those of nature... early in the morning some crows were very interested in what feels like our specific campsite and flying around the trees above it and cawing back and forth with each other. On the other hand, my buddy -who was an Eagle Scout in his youth- was not impressed. We had a primitive style campsite. No electric or water hook up where we were. There was a port-o-potty nearby- but if it didn't meet your standard you had to walk about two blocks to the general store. The showers felt more like hostel showers then camp showers. My take away was that his past camping experiences have been a lot more pampered than I am use to when I camp. I could easily camp here again in the future.

Spacious sites in a bucolic setting and the bonus is an Esther Williams delightful spring two miles away at the State Park.

We stopped in during our trip from Louisiana to Florida and I originally booked this stay because of its close proximity to I-10 but after arriving and meeting the staff at check-in and seeing all the beautiful upgrades it's definitely a place I'd return too. Making the reservation online was very easy including picking the site I wanted so I could make an early departure without being charged an additional site locking fee. Some say it's a little tight maneuvering around the campground but I had no issues driving out 41' MotorCoach with our toad connected to our site and extending all four slide-outs. Our site was level and partially shaded and all the utilities were in close proximity to our utility bay and were all in very good working order. You can see they have spent a lot of money and effort improving this campground with the additional of a pool and beautiful landscaping. Whether you're just looking for a easily accessible site off I-10 to overnight or for an extended stay this place is one to consider. I didn't notice any excessive noise from the interstate and the park was quite and comfortable...

I was never asked my side of the story. They tell you you're family but they don't treat you like family. I sat through 6 hurricanes with my family. I never left while almost everyone else did. After 6 hurricanes and loyalty to the park I got fired and asked to leave. Some family and not one you want. Don't make friends with the workers they will stab you in the back. That includes the one that got you hired and the one you got hired and trained. If you have a family with kids this is not a park for you. After 5 yrs my name is Vern. Never again. Goodbye.

She has serious issues that she's not dealing with. They're also many lies being told to the residence there they shut the bathhouse down allegedly due to maintenance that was almost a year ago. You could fix something in the Empire State building that like the time it had nothing to do with that line number one line number two they stopped the mail service in the park doodle laziness they want to do the bare minimum and not do the best for the residence. I had to go to the local post office and get a box. A lot of my mail was inadvertently sent back because of them important mail. Finally when I went to go on vacation and told him I would be back in a month she told me that it would be best for me to find another park no valid reason given whatsoever truly a personal decision on her pot they allowed people to commit to the park they're obviously doing inappropriate activity at night. It was well attended by at 30+ campers, residents, and visitors. The food and fellowship were great. Everyone seemed to have a good time and no one went home hungry! The park atmosphere is laid-back and most residents are friendly and outgoing, always willing to help when needed and offer RV advice if something breaks. Nearby Lake City and Live Oak have about all of the restaurants and stores you will ever need. The park is endeavoring to add more weekly events such as games and Bingo nights, as well as an occasional Saturday evening LIVE GOSPEL MUSIC and sing-alongs. This is a great place to live whether snowbirds, visitors, or full-time residents. We'll be coming back here as long as we are able... Frank & Char Go Blue!

March and April have always been our favorite months for a quick overnight stay and when the Museum was open we have stayed longer. Dog poop bag stations are well stocked unlike other State Parks, but I am still concerned about their budget. Almost sure it is the best State Park of Hamilton County Time to make reservations, there are months that bookings are almost impossible since kayaking and canoeing are popular sports on the River

O'leno state park is a big park 1.5 hours from Jacksonville's northside, so it's pretty close. The campsites are well maintained, big and pretty level for tents and RV camping. Plus they have water and electricity. One of my must haves when camping is a nice bathroom and good showers. Luckily every state park I've camped has had big, clean bathrooms with disability access showers and O'leno is no different. Winner winner chicken dinner. It's cool waking up in the morning to all the birds, several barn owls were heard too. The trails are varied, walk along the river or through the limestone scattered trails, it's all awesome! Oh and it's close to Ichetucknee so you can easily go do the springs too. O'leno's river is rusty looking because of the tanin but it's still good for swimming. If you like camping in the woods, seeing fireflies, millions of stars and a good hike among friendly campers this place is definitely worth visiting. The only downside is the ticks...had to throw that in for full disclosure.

FYI- Monica,...not "Kate", is the current "proprietress", chuckling as folks tend to still address her as "Kate". Being Nature Lovers ourselves, we fully acknowledge the rationale for not having an on-site dump station, with such close proximity to natural waterways, and such. This information is freely shared when calling or upon arrival with the additional info provided of access to dump station at local Love's Travel Center in Hawthorne. Knowing this, arrive with empty tanks in your camper unit, to give you peace of mind & extra time. The water provided is great; Wifi Access -Kudos!; and the shower facility offers a wonderful, strong, steamy, hot-water flow with the added treat of seeing the moon & night sky above! The shower area and bathroom were always kept clean, well-stocked, and well-lit for evening visits. Our stay also followed the passes of both Helene & Milton...so things may have been looking a little rough... It was truly a pleasant surprise to have such easy access to the paved Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail, of which we made frequent use for biking; hiking; and all-around wild-life strolling....while greeting local fisherman along the way. Lots & Lots of wildlife!!...Actually saw 21 wild turkeys one morning, that came out of hiding right after Thanksgiving passed!! The entrance from the main road may be a bit bumpy from the pavement change, and possible weather impact, just be alert & as always,.. take your time. There are traffic sounds heard, due to easy access to & from the campground,...however, it served as white-noise during those times when we were inside the RV. The benefit of having a taste of "Old-Time" Florida with such ease of access to Restaurants; Services; Healthcare; Parks/preserves; Entertainment/Sports/Art venues; & shopping , pretty much gives the best of both worlds. Be sure to take a stroll to the Campsite Office be fore you depart & treat yourself by picking out one ( or more) of the many hand-made soaps; lotions; balms; shampoos; & "Swamp Juice" that Monica creates!....Don't forget to pick up a few extras for gifting those worthy friends & family members!!
