I explained my situation to the loan officer Natalie behind the smudged plexi glass window and provided her with my bank statement and was offering her my payworks automatic deposit statement (which outlines the new payroll date of "July 25") due to the company restructure. All she could see is the fact that my next payroll date was on the 25th (4 days from asking for this loan) and she stated it was inconsistent. Guess there is no thinking outside the box with this employee and also very poor customer service skill especially in this line of work. She unfortunately lost money for the company as I was able to get a loan elsewhere where they were very understanding of my situation. If you require a loan due to payroll changes or just in general do not go to Focus Finacial. They are not very understanding and treat you as a number. Do not give them your business but bring your business to Cash Converters they are extremely helpful and compassionate about helping others. Do not refer them to your friends unless your friends are drug addicts or criminals. In that case this is the place for them.

She acted like she didn't want to help me and when she was basically forced to because her claims of "all Money Marts are closing in 15 minutes and we probably can't help you with cashing a cheque" didn't scare me away, she tried to make it even more difficult for me by demanding that I provide her with multiple references, I sign a Photocopy or my ID, giving her multiple pieces of ID and the list went on. I waited about ten minutes in line and then waited while the teller reviewed the five cheques. The teller was being thorough and I can appreciate that. However, after taking some time she singled out a particular check and told me they would not be able to negotiate it. Being that it was a vancity check in payment of rent, I knew that meant only one thing. However, I don't believe it is a teller's job to stop a check from being cashed because a VanCity member does not have enough funds in their account. I explained to the teller clearly and as calmly as I could that I was the property manager and not the writer of the check and that I had too much else to do at the property to babysit the people who live there and that if the check was going to bounce it was going to bounce and that was none of my concern. Eventually, the branch supervisor came over and agreed with me that the check should be deposited to the property but this was clearly an overreach and should never have happened. My personal experience with vancity credit Union in general has been poor. It's supposed to be a local credit union for the members and not about profits but my experience has being that they're e transfers have been unreliable, they've had service-wide outages and they have not been able to keep meetings that we have set with them or respect our time and deposits. I found that there not proactive in any respect and instead reactive and when you're dealing with people's money, that's the worst approach you can take.
