My father had a long standing account and investment fund with CIBC. I contacted all four and they were able to help me work through the probate process and close out his accounts. CIBC continuously dropped the ball and had to be chased for answers and updates over the course of 4 months. After they made another mistake, I requested information and a date for its resolution, they were unable to provide anything as another department handles it. They had someone brought I to expedite the process and escalate the issue past the branch level. He promised results and responses within a week. No answer or call back. After two weeks, I had to chase again. They mismanaged the funds. Subjected me to additional taxes that they don't have answers for, and now I'm on the hook for filing taxes for my fathers estate closure for another fiscal year. They have no sense of urgency or customer service, making my experience with them a beyond frustrating. After learning of their mistakes and incompetence in handling my fathers estate, and the lack of follow up, I asked for an update call the following day with the branch lady and/or the manager, the person actually began to say, "well we're very busy...", then tailed off as I said, "so you guys screwed up, didn't follow up with the me, forces me to chase you down, and now that you've discovered your mistake, you don't have the time to call me back to update me on the progress?" This is still going on a week later and now response from CIBC. I am beyond incensed, furious and frustrated at their continued incompetence and lack of accountability.

They directed me to visit this branch. When I got here, the reps could only tell me to call "Visa". When I explained that Visa doesn't provide customer service, only the issuing bank does, they looked baffled. I eventually did call Scotiabank customer service from a chair in the branch. They were surprised that the branch staff refused to help me. They said they would Purolator the new card to the branch and I'd have to come back to pick it up. A week went by and didn't hear anything. I called and they said the card was delivered. So I went to this branch again. They couldn't find it. The manager walked around and opened every single drawer in the branch. Then they had me sit down for about 30 minutes while they looked for it. Never found it. Never really apologized. They said they would have another card sent to me, but they never actually requested it. Three weeks later and I was still without a replacement Scotiabank Visa. I later closed all my accounts and hope to never set foot in this branch again.

I waited about ten minutes in line and then waited while the teller reviewed the five cheques. The teller was being thorough and I can appreciate that. However, after taking some time she singled out a particular check and told me they would not be able to negotiate it. Being that it was a vancity check in payment of rent, I knew that meant only one thing. However, I don't believe it is a teller's job to stop a check from being cashed because a VanCity member does not have enough funds in their account. I explained to the teller clearly and as calmly as I could that I was the property manager and not the writer of the check and that I had too much else to do at the property to babysit the people who live there and that if the check was going to bounce it was going to bounce and that was none of my concern. Eventually, the branch supervisor came over and agreed with me that the check should be deposited to the property but this was clearly an overreach and should never have happened. My personal experience with vancity credit Union in general has been poor. It's supposed to be a local credit union for the members and not about profits but my experience has being that they're e transfers have been unreliable, they've had service-wide outages and they have not been able to keep meetings that we have set with them or respect our time and deposits. I found that there not proactive in any respect and instead reactive and when you're dealing with people's money, that's the worst approach you can take.

You try to log in and it kicks you right out telling you that you gotta log in again and this happens over and over. 2. They always take strict security measures against you when ever you try making online purchase or login in to your account making you do code verification. But not when real fraud takes place, Ive had money taken from my account many times and no one was there to save the day. 3. They claim your account and info are safe and protected but its all talk no walk. 4. After so many years of being a customer, they don't want to approve me for overdraft protection or rewards card. 5. They flash you with (perverted colorful ads) over the banks TV screens, ATM's, Website and Street Banners. I need a bank account and don't need to be flashed with garbage if you know what i mean. I finally wanted to close my account and they made this very difficult for me asking me to pay fees which I was not suppose to for future months? I'm guessing its their way of giving you a hard time for leaving them. Too bad they can't see their own flaws. Each time I was in this bank there was someone at the teller complaining about something. That says a lot. I'm glad its done and over with. I'm banking with Vancity and I couldn't be happier. Friendly tellers which really DO care about you. If you feel like Bmo is giving you problems then I recommend Vancity. Fewer fees, lots of benefits and tellers that care about their customers..something companies/banks should already be doing.
