I wanted to open up a checking account which I would then put money into for my parents on their…read morebehalf, as I am their power of attorney and needed to use it to pay their bills. I asked the young kid who was opening the account for me if it needed to set it up as a trust for tax purposes. I told him I had the POA copies and healthcare directives if it would help. He told me that it shouldn't be necessary, but a regular account which could then be flipped into a trust if necessary without any difficulty. He seemed young and inexperienced, but like a fool I went against my better judgement and let him set it up. Later when talking to my accountant she said it should definitely have been set up as a trust. I went back and was told by somebody else there that they couldn't flip it into a trust so easily unless my parents were there to sign off on it. They both have dementia and legally can't sign anything, which is why I have their POA. So in the end my accountant is going to have to paddle to keep me out of the eyes of the IRS because some young kid didn't know his job and I can't flip it into a trust. My life is difficult enough without Wells Fargo needing to make it more so thank you very much.

I had to exchange money from a foreign currency, the branch manager lied to me and said Wells Fargo couldn't do this. I called Wells Fargo customer service and they said that this was not the case. I have also done this before at other branches, so I knew this was untrue. If he had said we can't facilitate this request at this branch and recommended another that would be different, but he completely lied to me and said they didn't transfer AU dollars. Don't waste your time here.
