Casona Maria was a delightful surprise during our visit to Puebla City.
The friendly people at the hotel was so kind to give us a tour through about 5 different rooms. Each room was decorated according to different towns in the state who carries the same as the city, Puebla. Just beautiful.
For lunch, the hotel's restaurant Santo Menjurge . We were so lucky to be attended by the Chef Charo Fernández López. Big surprise!... she explained to us every dish and the different ingredients in the ones we selected as well as the story involved with each one of them. Flavours, aromas, beautiful presentations... a fine dining Mexican experience.
Chicharrón Cream was outstanding, Poblano Mole was delicious. And to top it up, dessert was delicious. A delicate kind of brioche filled with flavourful pastry cream and and tasty and delicate pumpkin seeds sauce, which according to the chef, it takes 2 days to prepare.
Our stay in Puebla became a culinary tour in just one stop.
We had an appointment to a Talavera tour. With all the time we took for lunch, they were so helpful to call the talavera factory to let them know we were running a bit a bit late.
We learn about, Puebla's cooking, history and their kind people.
Many thanks Casona Maria! read more
