Rochester, Indiana's Times Cinema, now more often known as The Times Theater, was originally built…read morein 1923 and opened as a movie house known as the Char-Bell. It was built on the site of a former auto dealership with some of its bricks coming from a nearby demolished college. It started as a cinema for silent films, became a two-screen cinema, and throughout its history functioned in a variety of ways for the Rochester/Fulton County community including hosting of live events, movies, performances, and in many other capacities. It closed in 2014, however,by 2016 a movement began to re-open it as a sort of community hub. While there's still much restoration to go, thus the 4-star instead of the 5-star, this is my favorite kind of movie house space and it's even more delightful that The Native Nook is right next to it. In some ways, the space reminds me a lot of Indy's Emerson Theater, though I give a slight nod to the Times Theater in terms of the way it is being used and its overall potential. The Char-Bell name came from its original owners - Charles and Belle Krieghbaum. It was originally a 780-seat theater. In 1942, it came under new ownership and the name was changed to The Times Cinema. The cinema actually closed in 1973, however, it re-opened a year later with owners and in 1979 the cinema was split into two screens. In 1985, a fire damaged the cinema and it closed briefly. However, it was repaired and re-opened. It closed on January 1, 2014 due to the inability of the owners to afford the cost of switching to digital projection. Just today, the Times Theater is hosting a fundraiser as they continue to work on renovation and restoration. Currently billing itself as a "community and entertainment center," The Times Theater uses its marquee often for special events and community announcements. These days, it also is reminding me of Franklin's Artcraft Theatre. I've always loved spaces like The Times. Of course, it's kind of a fantasy to own an older theater one day. For now, I'll simply continue to support those who actually do. Here's to new life for The Times Theater in Rochester, Indiana!

Towne Square Cinema offers three screens in a beautiful historic building with extremely reasonable ticket and concession prices. Ticket prices are $7 for a 2D movie & $10 for a 3D movie. In the concession aspect, they offer different popcorn combos and seasonal specials, a variety of candy, dippin dots, pickles, flavored popcorn, and fountain & bottled beverages. Example of a combo would be - 2 medium drinks and a large popcorn (with up to four smaller bags of popcorn on the side) for $11.25 - what a steal. This movie theater also offers private parties (for a great price) where you can watch any of the movies playing, bring in a movie of your own, or even hook up game consoles and play video games on the big screen! Are you ready for this one? You can even host a SLEEPOVER at the cinema. That's right - a sleepover. If you're ever looking for something fun to do in Winchester, make sure you visit Towne Square Cinema!

I saw magic happen at C2E2…read more I saw a little girl in a princess dress who was waving at a costumed character calling, Mira, Mira. I told the woman that a little girl was trying to get her attention and she turned, then the little girl ran up to her and hugged her. They talked for a few minutes and posed for pictures for her parents, and when she walked away, she said she couldn't believe that she met her favorite K-pop character Mira. This is not the only magical moment that I had at C2E2. What could be better than seeing the mandalorian? A whole row of Mandalorians. This was a very popular costume here. What could be better than a parade of droids from star wars? Absolutely nothing! I saw families dressed up in costumes attending together. There was batman with his two spiderman sons, a father who was Bowser, the mother who was Super Mario and their son who was Luigi. I saw lots of couples who were dressed up together. I took a picture with Snorlax from Pokémon and Godzilla too! Sadly C2E2 is over for this year, but the memories will last for a long time. So if you want to hang out with Batman, the Mandalorian, Catwoman, X-Men, K-pop Demon Hunters and more, make sure to get your tickets to C2E2 2027 early! Gave up waiting for anyone to say Hi or Welcome and just went to theatre. Screen 7 - walked in and an instant mildew ish funk in the air. Sat down in our seats, and pulled out a phone light to find the seat button. Holy cow were the privacy walls FILTHY. It was like a 5 year old smeared butter all over them. The center table thing was all ripped up - and it was just gross. No one ever came by to see if we wanted anything - and granted we never hit the service button, but ummmm popcorn is included in the tickets..... We've been going to this location for years. It just keeps going downhill. Will be looking elsewhere from now on. Literally ran home to take a shower after this experience.

We were the only people in the theater, yet the experience was surprisingly poor. Our orders were incorrect, and it took over an hour and a half for my meal to arrive. When it finally did, there was paper stuck between the cheese, which was completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, after paying, I stopped to grab M&Ms and was told I couldn't purchase candy because everything had to be ordered through table service. That level of rigidity, especially with no other customers around, made no sense. This place has clearly changed and not for the better. Management needs to take a serious look at operations here, because experiences like this will drive customers away. I would not recommend this theater.
