There are 6 schools in Townview 1.Talented and Gifted (TAG) the smartest 2.school of engineering (SEM) 3. School of law (JBS Law magnet) 4. High school of health professions (HSHP) my school 5. School of business management (SBM 6. Education and social services (ESSM) Is this school hard?? Yes it is, and depending on which school you go into it may be even harder. For example TAG is harder overall than HSHP. They get more work and have high standards over all. Though some schools may have higher standards all the school are great and each holds their students to what they believe to be a reasonable academic goal. Is it hard to get in?? Yes and no, it has gotten easier which is a complaint I have. The class size has gone up so it is "easier" to get in. But it is in no way easy to get in. You still have to prepare and deliver on all the entry requirements and if even then nothing is guaranteed. Personally I love this school it prepares me perfectly for the future I want and sets me on the math to make my dreams into reality. All the teachers are great at their job so if you aren't doing good in a class that's on you because I know the teachers do all they can to help you succeed. From tutoring times to giving out their emails so you can ask questions at any times. I was gleeful... my HS daughter, was another story, her response, "Caf food is awful!" "Awful" seemed a bit extreme, but this is young person who typically has a lunch bag packed with hummus, tabbouleh and feta cheese chunks with naan bread and fresh fruit salad. But, with an entire year of FREE LUNCHES on the table, I had to check it out for myself. The meal was not bad for the $3 'civilian' rate I paid! Jumbo Fish Stick on wheat bun, beans, lime rice, mac n cheese all rather flavorful; but the canned fruit... not so much. The fish was actually FISH, not like the 'fish product' of yore! It flaked like fish, had a lightly crunchy crust and wasn't greasy at all. It possibly was baked! I fixed it up with Sriracha sauce and Ranch dressing. They get major creds for the service bar (fresh orange infused iced water) with a nice assortment of condiments! Not just salt/pepper, ketchup/mustard; there were bottles of lime juice, Sriracha sauce, BBQ sauce, Cajun, Ranch & Balsamic dressings and more! I certainly didn't have it this good at my HS cafeteria! The 'Kiddling'? She will be enjoying the culinary benefits of my school tax dollars this year! What we save will go towards Restaurant Week 2015, YAH! ABOUT THE TOWNVIEW CAMPUS... This campus is one of the best kept secrets in the often maligned DallasISD system. Teachers neglect you. People not even willing to talk to you. If they did then you're trying to fit in with a bunch of ghetto people who like videoing fights, and just overall do barbaric activities. Like light up a microwave machine thinking it's funny. It's not. The place just sucks the life out of you. Lack of real world lessons taught here. Equipment and activities are poor quality. I'll give a factual timeline of our experience with CDA…read more -March: daughter accepted enrollment in 9th grade position for following school year / August and we paid $8K of $13K tuition. May: my husband's company, Spirit Airlines, went out of business suddenly. June: we learn that my husband is going to be out of work for at least 5-7 months due to market saturation and airline hiring time, and that the company closing means our 401K loan is due in full immediately, which depletes savings. We inform the school we must withdraw from enrollment due to extreme sudden financial change in our family. School response- we will pray for you, but you still owe the remaining $5k even if you never attend. We withdraw hoping for grace. July and August: multiple bills sent from CDA with late fees added. Husband is paying small chunks as unemployment checks come in, while my family has no health insurance and no income. School knows all of this and refuses to let the remaining balance go unpaid, though we gave notice over 2 months before school begins and aren't asking for the initial $8k back. I'll let you guess what we think of this school's heart after our experience. 2 stars for grace (on our end, not theirs)
