    Wounds on back.

First let me start with the positives as I believe there are some at Joyous Montessori. Our child attended this facility for about 15 months or so. First in the infant care and then transitioned to the toddler classroom. She seemed to enjoy going to school for the most part until closer to the end of her time here. She was right at 2 years old when she left and I understand some of this is just how a child grows. She learned a LOT of stuff here. Colors, shapes, numbers, some letters, and her speech flourished. Definitely saw a positive change in her development. Now let's get to the bad stuff. There are several small gripes, but I won't include those as I think any place is going to be a little bit different here or there and you can't please everyone. What I will say is we always felt in the dark about what exactly what was going on at the facility. Just a general lack of communication. From what they were learning day to day to upcoming events and closures it was basically as little communication as necessary. The biggest issue I have is this place is unsafe for children. The facility itself seems fine, but the staff seems a little too distracted. I will be the first to admit that as with any environment with multiple children present there is the potential for things to happen. I think this is just part of life with kids. However, this place has several deficiencies. For instance on May 16, 2023 my wife gets a call in the middle of the day informing her that our child has hit her head at home and that it definitely didn't happen at school. Also implying that we need to be careful with her to avoid these types of things. This did NOT happen at our home as she was totally fine before leaving for school. Upon picking her up my wife found that she had a massive knot on her forehead. It ended up turning blue and she had a bump under the skin for nearly 2 months. It was a HARD impact. So in this case one of 2 scenarios happened. 1st: it happened at school. The staff knows, and they are trying to cover it up. Or 2nd: it happened at school. The staff genuinely doesn't know. Which means it happened, and she was able to cry it out all while there was no teacher present to witness. Not sure which is worse. Incompetence or dishonesty. But as any parent who wants to trust their child's care provider we chalked it up to just an accident and we gave them the benefit of the doubt. In hindsight that was not the way to go as we found out in July. Imagine the guilt felt by my wife and I after looking back after the next incident. How could we send her back here?! Ok so the second incident: July 6, 2023 my wife again gets a phone call from Joyous Montessori staff. This time near the end of the day, stating that she had a rash and we should take care of it. Wife picks up daughter at normal time and again we were told it was a rash. She was also visibly upset as it appeared she had been crying hard shortly before. Sniffling and the whole boohoo thing after a hard cry. Upon getting her home we find on her back what appeared to be somewhere between 6-10 bite marks. There were also scratch marks that broke the skin on the front of both elbows, one of her shoulders, and a mark that looked like she got hit on her nose and left ear. So at that point I called the director. Mrs. Vandana. Informed her about the situation and that we were going to have a meeting the next day. We brought pics of what happened and she admitted that it appeared she had been attacked. I was also shown a video of the incident that was played back on the computer but recorded on Vandanas phone. No audio and the video picked up when the teacher was holding Lily. So who knows even if this is when it happened. But since this video records over itself there was no way to review. Only showed teacher holding child. Nothing else. Here's the thing. A child with multiple bite marks is going to cry. They not only couldn't tell us what happened, they couldn't even tell us WHEN it happened. So again it looks like they were unattended. In both cases there was no report made as it was stated to be "a rash". Again 1 of 2 scenarios. 1st: Unattended children. 2nd: Lies. This is totally unacceptable and now that refund check for July has been deposited and cleared we will be reporting to the licensing board. If this only helps 1 other child it will be worth it. THIS FACILITY IS UNSAFE FOR YOUr LOVED ONES! Also, as I have seen on another review made for this facility, I would expect Vandana to respond to this review and try to attack the validity of my claims. For this reason, and to convey the severity of the situation I will include a pic of my daughters back. EDIT: I find it curious that a new review was posted 4 days after this one by a reviewer with no other reviews. Seems suspiciously dishonest. Especially since it specifically addresses all the issues I had and all the people involved. But hey, hopefully I'm wrong about this.

They wanted us to continue paying full price despite them being closed. I understood. About 2 years later once I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, I called to see if they had availability, they did, then once they got more of my information, they never called me back. I tried three times to get an update and was ignored. I believe they were annoyed I pulled my son in 2020. Either way, unprofessional and petty.

I was told directly that they had openings and was scheduled for a tour the next morning. On Friday, I toured the facility, and told them I was ready to enroll immediately so my son could begin on Monday, just as I had mentioned in my initial call. Rebecca suddenly claimed she wasn't sure there was space as 2 children had enrolled on Thursday, even though she had told me there was. I had just saw his classroom and counted about nine children, clearly not a full class, when the student to teacher ratio is 1:11 and there are 2 teachers. From there, the situation became even more concerning. Rebecca went into the office, whispered with Chris, the owner, and returned stating : there were actually no spots available and my son was second on a waiting list. After voicing my concern about being told there was availability, Chris came and spoke with me promising to call me back about the availability, but that call never came. Instead, I received a generic email confirming my son had been placed on the waiting list. This experience was not just disappointing as a single mom -- it was deeply troubling as this is a faith based school. The whispering in the office, the sudden contradictions, and the lack of follow-through made it clear that honesty and transparency are not priorities at this school. I would strongly caution other parents to look elsewhere. If this is how they handle new families at the door, I shudder to think how issues are handled once a child is enrolled.

I would like to respond to Sue M's response to my review. I am not a "random or not so random"…read moreperson. My granddaughter attends this daycare and upon enrollment, we asked if management was able to hear the audio since we were made aware that we as parents could not. This is not "inside" info. Maybe that's a question you should think to ask your future daycare providers, as I'm certain there will be more than a couple. I am by no means invalidating your experience. I stand by my comment that you should be ashamed, not for posting the review, but for name dropping employees AND calling them racist. You do not know these people. It is one thing to leave a bad review since you obviously had a bad experience, but name dropping and calling people racist is a totally different scenario. Your review will follow these employees should they seek other opportunities. And for the record, my granddaughter is not 100% white and we have had zero problems. Just thought I'd throw that out there before you make assumptions as to the race of my granddaughter. I would like to address the previous review given by Sue M. Sue M's review infuriates me for several reasons. My granddaughter attends this daycare and we have had zero problems. It is diverse and the staff are amazing. If I were Emma or any one else you name dropped, I would personally file a law suit against you for defamation of character. Your child attended this facility for all of two months. You do not know them. At all. You should be ashamed. It is my understanding the management has access to the audio recordings for the classrooms. Have you asked them to review the footage? Have you even considered the possibility that your child is not being truthful? In this review you definitely sound like the "my child can do no wrong" parent. You should consider removing this review. Just my opinion. Hope you and your family can find a daycare to meet your standards. Good luck in the future.

So If they can not even find my child's records or application in the system, how can we rely on them to really care for our children for 8 hours a day?? I worked with Hannah about 2 months prior to starting my child at this daycare and provided her application form, payment details and my child's vaccination records, but she forgot to run the application as well as she forgot to put my child on waiting list. When I called a week prior before starting my child, Jennifer (the director) answered the call and she was not able to find my child's application. Since Hannah was not available, she had me waiting until Hannah comes in. Hannah returned my call and told me that she forgot to run the application and put my child on waiting list so now I have to wait for another two months before my child can start daycare there. With all of that she was not even apologetic and the director did not even have courtsey to call me back or apologize. I was so much relying on them and now I have to look for other daycares who can take my child in just one week. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED.

Mrs. Cain- Preemptively enrolled my children in this daycare even though my ex and I share 50/50 custody and everything went down hill from there. ( They are only profit driven at least at this location) The kids continue to tell me that there is never any soap refilled in the dispensers and therefore my children were coming home sick every other week because basic safety features were not followed. Moving forward- The accounting department knew we were 50/50 custody and I asked a number of times to type up two different accounts so my ex (The FBI Special Agent) and I can keep our billing different. Things got progressively worse here and we came to a head when Mrs. Cain didn't know my children's whereabouts, even though they ride the CLA busses. How is this safe?? I own and operate a small business myself and I would never care for my patients the way CLA care for their children and respective families. I am a doctor and I am appalled that Mrs. Cain did not follow the divorce decree from day 1 and went by the verbal consent of my ex Mr. FBI Special Agent. I cannot speak any worse of this facility. My girls were called into the office and nothing was ever documented if it made the center look bad. Clearly, this business is profit driven and I will not cower to speak my mind just because my ex-husband Mr. FBI SPECIAL AGENT TRIED TO TRUMP ME and the school didn't follow our divorce decree. Ironically- Mrs. Jaimie Cain has stepped down and now they are under a different management. Only in Texas could this occur- when we all lived in DC things were much more professional and buttoned up. Sincerely, Sandhya Sharma LPC CACII EMDR

Additionally, I felt safe with my daughter there. Jennifer is super organized with all ducks in a row. The play area outside was safe and well fenced in with lots for the kids to do for play as well as learning. Her house was always neatly organized for a great learning environment, and she always had lesson plans and meal schedules prepared. We set up an appointment and met with Angie the next day. Now, there are some 1 star reviews (hidden, for good reason) and I can only laugh...how can you bash Angie and the owners?! I am honestly the most introverted socially awkward person and usually come off as rude just because being peppy and talkative isn't my thang....however Angie was always been super sweet to me, answers any questions I have and always has something nice to say to me or my son when we come in. I can't even believe someone would say anything bad about these people, even the owners say hi and made special accommodations for my sons schedule. As for the curriculum, my son is in EPSII now, and the projects that I see and the things they do in class seem age appropriate to me. This place is a BILLION time better then Kids R Kids. The teachers have been working there for years, seem happy and not agitated and most of all, my son is progressing! I can barely even get him to come home with me. Immensely better and wide variety of toys and crafts and sensory things vs. Kids R Kids. Even the "report card" I received was filled out and quite a few paragraphs about things the teachers have been working on specifically with my son and how he is doing. I'll admit, when I found Kids R Kids I was impressed with all the gadgets and how you can log in and watch your kid from your phone...but my son was so unhappy and the "teachers" were just a revolving door of college kids or unhappy adults. Not to mention way more expensive then this place! I don't need to "login" to watch my kid, to know if he is happy, healthy and learning...I can see it when I pick him up!
