We came here for my final farewell dinner as my last meal in the Aachen area. It was amazing ..... the 3 of us actually all decided to get the same things: Special schnitzel! There are 2 sections of schnitzel, we got the "mild" one under "specialities." It is unclear what sets this apart from the schnitzel in the other section but we went for it since it was the same price. Everything was HUGE as you can tell from the picture and it was quite delicious. That sauce, it's like a creamy paprika, was delicious. I chose Mild because I didn't want anything spicy but it was actually on the sweet side so maybe next time I'd go one level above since they have 4 levels. the sides are regular French fries, fried potato discs, or rice. At first, I got the potato discs thinking it was roasted potatoes and that was wrong so be careful what you choose. I got a replacement rice side which was perfect with the sauce and schnitzel. We sat outside as usual and it was perfect! I can see why this place is very popular with the locals, especially late night locals.

If you don't speak German (I don't) be sure to ask for the menu printed in English. The staff was very helpful and the food was good. It's a little upscale, and so caters to an older crowd, and not so much the Aachen students. So if you want to get away from the students, this is a good place to go. Also very near the center of town, so easy to grab a bite to eat and then walk around the shops and church.

The schnitzel with pepper sauce I ordered was mouthwatering -- fresh, tender and crunchy with scrumptious sauce! The salad was also delicious and fresh with home made dressing. The waitress brought me out a free starter of fresh bread with a flavored oil and olives. Both was tasty. The waitress, Julia, also gave extremely wonderful service. She was very attentive and even gave me a free map of Aachen as well as explained how to get to certain places. She also let me try some of the local Aachener Printen. She was so nice. The restaurant dates back to the 1600s. The decor felt like traditional german decor. The restaurant is several levels and has seating out front as well. Overall, I loved this place and would continue to return when I come to Aachen.

The schnitzel I ordered tasted terribly, so as the fries and the mushroom sauce (cheap supermarket frozen food). For €15, it felt like a total rip-off. Same with the traditional sausages that my girlfriend ordered. Also, the men's bathroom is literally one of the smallest bathrooms I've ever seen - if you're taller than 1,80m it is unlikely that you'll fit in. My advice: save your money and eat somewhere else if you want traditional, good quality food.
