For example they stock Peters Yard crisp breads (try them!) here who are based in Edinburgh (originating in Sweden, of course) and with a little connection to the West Midlands. The shop is filled with goodies, healthy or very much, either way, I'm hooked and barely leave without clutching some foodie purchase. From jams to pies, to cakes and bread, to wine and ready meals plus fresh fruit and vegetables.Oh and they offer hot take-out coffee too with beans supplied by Staffordshire's 'Has Bean'. They sell them in the shop too. It's not cheap, it's quite expensive but worth a monthly treat if you can get there as you need a car. But there is plenty of parking and in there's plenty more to see, buy and do at Trentham Shopping Village too.

I was introduced to Black Pudding, an acquired taste for even the English- pigs blood and intestines mashed into a hockey puck. I have nothing to compare it to but a taste of it was good for me. It was crispy, soft like pudding and a bit sweet. I opted for the tuna panini which was terrific. I read it came with chips which I figured were fries but got actual potato chips which was fine I guess. Michael said his All Day Breakfast was spot on except for the sausage which he described as cheap or watery. The other lads said there's were fine and devoured it spite being hung over. Before breakfast I asked to walk past the gates to witness the sprawling fields. I was welcomed with a bit of apprehension and took a few photos as you may see. Apparently no one asks to go back into the farm. I breathed in the cool air and appreciated the beauty of the English horizon. I was met by the owner, Bill Williams, in a tractor who stopped me to have a bit of a chat. He is a funny man when he said the view was "alright" and there wasn't much to see. I learned the farm was 400 acres and how he had a kick travelling the California coast line several years ago. When I return to Chester I will be sure to come back and eat here and say hello.

First stop was Matlock - cute little village, powerful river flowing though town, nice views all around. We wanted to have lunch but hadn't really seen anything and so we decided to head to Bakewell (about 20 minutes drive) when I noticed a classy, inviting, purple sign by the road "The Orangery". We quickly turned around and are so glad that we did! We had a really GREAT lunch and have already booked again for Christmas Eve when our daughter and new husband visit. It may sound odd but it used to be part of a very prestigious school for over a century - the most famous "Old Girl" was Richmal Crompton who wrote all the "William" books that I devoured as a kid. Now the whole complex is basically a old peoples home (Man are they lucky!!). So the lunchgoers were, on average, grey haired (but I am going that way too) - but it was fairly quiet in terms of lunchgoers and music (just the right volume - Christmas songs, Wham and many many more of the favorites. The restaurant drips class, the bistro also (full bar). A wide selection of offerings _ I seriously wanted the prawn curry but got lured into a Christmas special. Staff were lovely, place is clean, only issue is it is quite loud, so not a place for private conversations.
