Great stay with a delicious breakfast! Bed was comfortable and place clean! Enjoyed staying here and will be back!! Breakfast was homemade and hash browns crispy! Sausage links were very yummy! The innkeeper, Patsy, was very sweet and cooked our delicious breakfasts! Place was quite and in good location to downtown.

What an amazing experience!! I had a friend visiting from out of town and I was looking for something unique so I signed us up for the Murder Mystery Dinner (think a live version of Clue) at the Castle Inn. HOW COOL!?? (not me, the concept! :) ) And even better that we were able to get in on New Year's Eve! The organizers are so thorough that they even provide you with period clothing and you are prepped as to what role you will be playing upon check-in. Maybe you all have done something like this before but I hadn't and I was completely impressed. They didn't leave out a single detail including the 4 course meals they served! I encourage everyone to try to book in or atleast drive in and look at this place as it is so structurally beautiful. And to add to the creepy factor, I am just watching a show on A&E and it is featured as one of the more prominent haunted locations in Ohio. Definitely a haunted house type feel so I would only suggest it for the adventurer.

My cousin reviewed separately, but I felt that the response given by the hosts on Facebook was…read morerude, so I will add my own perspective. I will say the rooms were kept clean and the home is beautiful and in a good location. However, everything else was sketchy as heck. We saw our hosts for 10 minutes over 48 hours. I feel that at almost every other bed and breakfast I have been to, the host is available most the time, but certainly (or at least) in the morning. They did provide us with dish soap when we requested it (via a phone call), but it was a bit of an inconvenience to have to track someone down over the phone and wait hours for soap when a host who is actually at their place of business could have resolved the request in a timely manner. Perhaps we arrived on an "off" weekend as I know the hosts were sick, but I still feel this bed and breakfast needs to pick up their game a bit, especially where the food is concerned. While we were there (three days and two nights) the food was not changed until our final morning. The very first day, my cousin bit into the quiche and discovered the top was covered in red, gray and black mold. Who knows how long it was in there before we arrived to get that moldy. The quiche and every other item in the fridge (moldy cheese) remained until we threw it away, concerned others would get ill. I feel like most bed and breakfasts provide some sort of hot breakfast or at least one item that can be served warm or heated later, but there was no microwave, toaster or any other way to heat up a snack. At no point was I able to connect to the "free" wifi or get the tv working. This could easily have been user error, but no one was there to help get anything set up. And I don't want to have to call and complain every five minutes, which this would have turned into. Guests arrived at one point and I actually showed them around and got them acclimated. I know they were unhappy to be in a room without a window air conditioner because they said so and were also disappointed by the lack of host. As for the amenities, such as the upper porch and back porch, they were filthy. Not usable for much, in my opinion. The front porch is a much better option. I feel there is also a bit of a lack in security options as you cannot lock your room after you leave, and so must take any valuables you have with you wherever you are going through the day. I know this place is being renovated and had no complaints about the work in progress or anything else about the actual house. It simply wasn't a hospitable stay. I feel the hosts need to work on their hosting and actually make heir presence known at their place of business. Since they have another business to attend to, maybe they should hire an assistant to manage the bed and breakfast. Sorry if this seems harsh, but when someone leaves a negative review perhaps the first response shouldn't be to blame your customer for our bad service. Sincerely, Never again.

There was a large hole in the roof of the carport on the side. Windows were cracked and one was actually missing! A round one in the front. Electrical cover was missing on one outlet I saw. One window had been shoot and had a hole. It didn't even have clear tape over the hole to cover it. Windows in honeymoon suite are blocked (one by both a desk and love seat). Probably afraid that if someone pushes on the window it will fall out and so will you! The other window sits behind a jacuzzi and has a wooden painted peice in front of it that is warped and falling apart. Room was cold. Has a neat broken tile floor design until you relize how sharp the pieces of tile are. Someone could cut their foot on the edges if not careful. Homemade ice is kept in ziplock bags in a freezer on the second floor. Goodies in basket were fruit snacks(2 small packs) potato chips (2 small bags), popcorn (1 bag) and water (2 bottles). All Aldi brand! Not refilled either. Microwave (single one for guest to share) is also on second floor. It's on top of a common fridge for all the guest to share. I didn't feel comfortable using it, so we avoided it. Whoever owns this castle needs to either invest some real money in it or give it to someone that can. It's in sad shape. How it meets code is beyond me. The train tracks are horrible at night. No mention anywhere on the website about that. They seemed to go by every hour at night. The honeymoon suite was like a dark attic room. Not charming or even welcoming. Seemed like an after thought trying to take a large storage room and make it an extra room. My husband paid for a rose, box of fine chocolates, and rose petals on the floor... Fake rose, small box of Russell Stover assorted chocolates and silk rose petals. I understand the fake petals, but a fake long stem rose? A 10 piece mixed Russell Stover box? That was very disappointing. Pros: The hostess was very sweet. The room wasn't dirty and the sheets were clean. The dinner was good. They were on time for serving. Overall: Not worth the price tag that comes with it. Hostess spent time apologizing for storm damage as stated by multiple signs throughout building. Much of damage was evident it wasn't from a storm, but from lack of maintenance, neglect, or no one caring for some time. I can see why you have to prepay and there are no refunds offered if you cancel. I wanted to run as soon as I got there but didn't want to loose almost $500!!! 2 nights!!! I felt really bad for my husband... He booked based on the website and didn't check reviews. His heart fell as soon as we arrived and saw the place. MOST places that charge the prices they do are worth it. He was trying to make it a special time for me. :-( We tried to make the best of it.

We stayed in Room 2 on the second floor, very handsomely appointed in aqua and coffee tones, with silver accents. The room was lovely and very comfortable, both the bedroom and the en suite bathroom. I enjoyed reading a book in the chair by the window. The backyard was another highlight. There is a small deck, a fireplace, an English-style walking garden, and a main seating area with candles and comfortable camp chairs. In warm weather, it's perfect either for unwinding or for extending a gathering at the end of the day. Apparently the proprietor brings food in the morning? I was not awake in time to witness this; perhaps it is the breakfast fairy. In any case, the spread was noteworthy: besides the drinks, snacks, yogurt, fruit, and cereal available around the clock, there were uncooked eggs, miniature bagels, coffee cake or banana bread, and a variety of seasonal fruit. No matter how heterogeneous your group, everyone will find something to satisfy him- or herself. Sometimes it's the little things--such as the rubber duck in the shower stall, the small fish tank on the kitchen counter, and the soft jazz CD playing in the living room on our arrival. There was a basket of highly watchable DVD movies and a shelf of local-interest books. But the important things stand out too: the entire place was immaculate and the proprietors seem to take good care of both the property and the guests. This is a very strong 4.5. Some of our housemates were staying there for the third time, and I would not hesitate to return with them next time.

In the morning, they put out a fresh pastry (different and delicious each day!), toast, beautiful fresh fruit, and hard boiled eggs. The room had a hair dryer, bar soap, makeup wipes, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. We also had a smart tv so I could log into my own Hulu account. There is a pretty park and lots of little shops and restaurants within walking distance, including a major grocery store. Could not have imagined a better place...I wish I lived there!

So if you are looking to truly unplug and wake up overlooking acres of beautiful Ohio farmland, this is the place for you. I was immediately impressed with the attention to detail and quality construction of the cabin. Since it is a relatively new build it is well-appointed with upgraded appliances throughout. The fireplace (gas) that dominates the central sitting area not only sets a comforting mood, but puts out a good amount of heat. Additionally there is a walk in tile, multi-head shower that would be at home in any five star resort. The cabin also has an oversized whirlpool tub to truly unwind in. The owner has placed locally made soaps at the tub and sink. There is a kitchenette that is really equipped like a full-sized kitchen. The large refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, and complete assortment of dishes and utensils easily facilitates meal prep. There is also a grill, picnic table, and fire pit out front. If you plan your stay correctly, you may never have to leave the cabin. Two things really stood out to me about this property: One, it is impeccably clean. Two, all the extras that are the mark of a well-run getaway. The owner left a bottle of wine and delicious tray of pastries from a local bakery out to welcome us to the cabin. The owner also stocks the bathroom area with hygiene and convenience items in the event you forget yours. If you are looking for a unique couples getaway, you have to book a weekend here.

We decided to give it a shot seeing as how it was in a prime location and you just could not beat the rates when compared to the chain hotels. The following is a review of our stay in this charming accommodation. After a smooth flight from Orlando, we were greeted by our hosts who provide free round trip shuttle service to the local airports. Their adorable dog, a dachshund named Patti, keeps you company on the ride..(here's a tip, she loves to curl up in a travel pillow so if you have one, make sure to share!). When we arrived at the bed & breakfast we unloaded our bags and were led to our room. We had chosen the 'Basement Oasis' room as it was their largest suite complete with full bath and mini bar. There was definitely plenty of room for us to settle in and not feel cramped as you so often do in typical hotel rooms. Everything was meeting our expectations until we opened the media cabinet only to discover that our television had a screen not much larger than my smart phone. Thankfully I had brought my iPad along on the trip or things could have gotten ugly pretty quickly. We unpacked our things and headed upstairs to chat with our hosts before heading out. We were informed that there was an abundance of baked goods for us whenever we were hungry..I highly recommend the apple pie! Our hosts even informed us that they had an extra vehicle for us to borrow if we felt so inclined. Naturally, we took them up on this offer. In return we helped them put up their Christmas tree as a thank you for such a kind gesture. We even offered to cook a meal for some friends & family of theirs and ours..boy, did that guest list get long quickly! It was quite a success and everyone had a lovely time. Our trip was wonderful filled with lots of family time and meeting my boyfriend's nephew who was by far the cutest and best part of the entire trip! On our last day we were met in the morning with a lovely breakfast and a reading of the Christmas story from Good Book. After breakfast we were asked to strip our beds which we felt was an unusual request seeing as how we were their guests but we gladly did so seeing as how kind they had been. We loaded up our bags, exchanged goodbyes & were even given fresh citrus for our flight home. Overall, I would highly recommend this quaint B&B to anyone visiting this area. The hosts have a plethora of ideas for ways to fill your day and don't forget to explore the coupon book for discounts to local eateries! I know we'll be staying here again, so should you!

One minute you're driving along backroads in Ohio and then BAM, you're starting at a medieval castle. Ravenwood Castle is well known for its focus on games of all kinds - board games, social deduction games, scavenger hunts - you name it, they have it. My mom and I came for a special weekend where they were hosting a murder mystery. Put on by a separate company, but hosted within Ravenwood Castle, our murder mystery experience started on Friday night and ran through Sunday morning. We worked in teams to solve the mystery and along the way participated in goofy and quirky games and puzzles to help us score points. When you stay, you can eat on site, or you can book a cabin and bring & prepare food in a small kitchenette. Alternatively, there are a few places you can order from / go out to in the surrounding areas, but nothing is particularly close by because the castle is in a remote area. While I found the food to be mediocre, the beer and whiskey selection is great, and a surprise stand out was their version of butterbeer, which is dangerously chuggable. There is a plethora to choose from as soon as you check in or when you're dining in the pub or premade scavenger hunts to do while walking around the property during your stay. My husband and I aren't board game enthusiasts but we did have a great time at the castle. After checking in we made our way to the King Arthur Suite, a short walk from the check-in desk and through the dining hall. The door to the King Arthur Suite is quite literally in the middle of the dining hall which we personally felt was kind of awkward because it is a prime gathering space for most of the guests. The two story suite was spacious, painted in a funky green and featured a giant jacuzzi tub which was the highlight of the room. A comfortable four poster bed on the second story made us feel like royalty and is close to the door that leads to a porch over looking the grounds behind the castle. My husband made a fire in the large fire pit outside of the castle that is closer to the cabins. The area was stocked with wood and we spent the majority of our evening enjoying a warm fire on the cool fall night. The pub downstairs serves beer and basic bar fare. It wasn't very busy when we stopped by but service was wonderful and we felt very welcome. Another couple proposed the four of us play a game together and we reluctantly obliged. Our patient competitors taught us how to play "Ticket To Ride" and it was a blast. So, in the end, Ravenwood Castle (and our new friends) did turn us into game people.

The room was comfortable, large and the bathroom was nice too with a great shower! We spent time with Jane & Doug talking and learning about their farm and getting a tour of the entire house Doug has built for them - what an amazing talent he has for woodwork. It was interesting to learn that the wood used in the house from trim to floors came from trees on the property - most of the wood had never left the farm. The house has tons of room for much larger groups and I could see us taking other family & friends for a weekend getaway in the future. We walked the property, which was really beautiful and even got to go on a golf cart ride a couple of times. There were homemade chocolate chip cookies and milk in the evening and in the morning Jane made us a true farm style breakfast that included coffee, orange juice, eggs, sausage, stewed apples and homemade scones - YUM! One other treasure is Luke, their 4 year old Golden Retriever, he only added to the warmth of the experience at this secluded getaway. My wife and I have travelled all over the country and stayed in dozens of places during our 22 years together and I can say on behalf of both of us, this place is a treasure if you are looking to get away, relax and meet some very nice people.
