I was Chilling at the Slab Charging my Ankle Bracelet . I was looking for an Activity to attend when I saw the Castro Valley Fall Festival was going on. I like Castro Valley as its a Small Quaint Town and fairly safe. The Fall Festival is held on Castro Valley Blvd . There are a ton of Eateries on Castro Valley Blvd. I rolled my Whip White Rabbit to Castro Valley Blvd . It was closed off to Traffic But there was plenty of Parking I stashed my Whip and walked about 1 block and I was at the Fall Fest . There's a lot of Food Vendors Offering BBQ and Ethnic Foods . Lots of Arts and Crafts Booth Hawking Wares . There are 2 Band Stands , One at each end of the Fest . Multiple Bands Playing . This 2 Day Fest happens every year . Its Good Family Fun . Best Part Its Free !! This Event is a Baller on a Budget Approved !!!

Oh how I LOVE the little city Castro Valley! So diverse and tons of families with children! I smell the amazing LOVE in the air! I would have never known that Castro Valley had a festival if it wasn't for my neighbors. This lovely festival was located on Castro Valley Blvd and I have to say it was a BIG event! The two day festival features over one hundred fifty arts and crafts, community and non-profit booths. Local wineries are chosen to accompany the vast assortment of food booths, joined by beer on tap. Plus the event is dog friendly!! ANother BIG plus! I smelled the food from a mile away! OMG, Smelled delicious! This was Castro Valleys 43rd Fall Festival which was held on September 12th and 13th from 10AM-6PM! The first Castro Valley Fall Festival was held in 1972. WOW! It has truly been successful since! I have to admit it was a GREAT turn out! I arrived with my roommate around 10AM and by that time all parking was PACKED! After a while of driving I was able to find parking and join the event. There were tons of vendors: Selling chocolate, kitchen supplies, clothing, Jewelry, you name it and they were selling it! Prices were decent. Many good food vendors: ~Jenn's Cupcakes and Parties (Amazing cupcakes in Castro Valley) http://www.yelp.com/biz/jenns-cupcakes-and-parties-castro-valley ~ Winglees- Selling their amazing chicken wings! OMG!! ~Fried Mushrooms, Zucchini, Corn Dogs, Garlic Fries, Sausage links! Whoo the list goes on and on... Many sponsors were there passing out free bags and talking more about their program: ~Kaiser, AC Transit, Bay Valley Medical Group, Eden Hospital, Davis Street Family Resources, Waste Management and Redwood Christian Schools. The children were not left out at all! There were tons of things for them to play with: ~Face painting, Pony rides, Rock climbing! Wow! It was truly amazing to be able to see the children having a great time. Let's not forget the live band that was playing! The music was GREAT! They also had seats to have the people in the community sit and enjoy the live band! I had a great time and look forward to many more events like this in my area!

Got this little cute bench for only$40....

Prob our favorite fall festival in the Bay Area. Friendly local vendors, pony rides $15/kid, good food options. Wine was ok.

REVIWER # 1 Castro…read moreValley is coming out with all these festivals and fairs that I had no idea about and I truly love and enjoy them! This event was Castro Valleys 10th Annual Car Show and they had some sexy muscle cars out for display. Taking it back just a little bit...I am a sucker for sexy colorful cars...It seems to catch my attention better than seeing a sexy man on the street....but any who...When I had drove by Castro Valley Blvd and noticed all the cars I couldn't help but to stop, park and explore! This event took place on Saturday June 11th from 2PM-7PM and I had arrived a little before they closed. Most of the cars and the owners were still there while individuals like me snapped pictures from the inside of the car to the outside. FOOD: They had one side designated for food trucks. I was happy to see: ~WoKitchen-Never heard of them before but they sold food items from Veggie Eggrolls to Tacos! ~Smokes Poutinerie-I have tried them at their Berkeley location and I'm a big fan and supporter of this business! I was really excited to see they had a food truck! Looks like many of attendees were happy about them as well! ~Chick-N-Chill food truck was there. By the time I arrived they were cleaning up and headed out! :( ~Taco food truck ~Jenns Cupcakes- https://www.yelp.com/biz/jenns-cupcakes-and-parties-castro-valley?osq=jeens+cupcakes They event took over 5-6 blocks of Castro Valley Blvd and they even had a section for the children such as painting, arts, jumpers! It was really nice! I am so happy I was able to explore the festival and now that I know about it I will be on the lookout for next year! REVIEW 47/196

Some vendors only accepted cash, others only…read more"event cash" (which guests purchased/exchanged at the registration booth near the entrance), so this added a bit of inconvenience to our experience. But there were tons of food vendors throughout, and a comprehensive menu on the festival website, showcasing the wide range of diverse offerings, as well as clear menu signs at each tent on site. Falafel wraps, beef kofta and grilled lamb plates, and Egypt street food galore, along with an Egyptian coffee stand and a dessert corner selling crepes, baklava with ice cream, and other pastries. Just so much to choose from. We got a strawberry smoothie and hibiscus juice from the Tut & Sons beverage tent, and these treats were fresh tasting and delicious, topped off with a cute little umbrella on the colorful skinny straws it came with. We also tried the macaroni bashamel, alexandrian liver sandwich, and feteer with feta cheese and egg. Food and service were strangely just okay, but most volunteers/workers were friendly, and we didn't encounter any problems. And there were plenty of shaded tables and seating to enjoy our snacks and drinks. There were also church tours, extremely limited merchandise for sale (idk, maybe they ran out of offerings the first two days!?!), live music by community members and other forms of entertainment on a small stage, and a kids area with inflatable slides, rock climbing, and more. Free parking and unnecessary shuttle service was available at East Avenue Elementary School, but that lot was full when we arrived a little after lunchtime. Luckily we found parking on the road directly in front of the Coptic Youth Center where the festival was taking place. Fun little family-friendly event, free to attend, and great for spending an hour or two on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

The church is cool with great art inside and a nifty store for all Egyptian needs is by the patio in the back. Only thing I'd change is the placement of the stage. The parking lot is not full and there's a lot of space. There are approximately 3 veggies stands, 2 fruits stands, hummus stand, 2 bread stand, meat/fish stand, cheesecake stand, flower stand, and a few food stands. I've found that while this farmers market is small, it usually has what you need. I do find that the produce can be quite pricey! I primarily choose to visit, due to the exceptionally sweet fruit. I rarely find oranges, Asian pears, and apples as sweet. So when I feel like dishing out a few extra bucks for some delicious fruit, I'll treat myself. With that said, holy gosh are the prices expensive! $5/lb for Asian pairs and other citrus fruits. $2.50/lb for napa cabbage(that is usually $.69/lb at the grocery store. Yeah, I get that it's a farmer's market, however, it's no longer what it used to be. We used to solely buy produce at farmers markets, now it's not possible unless you're making a solid income to afford $5/lb oranges. Overall, clean and tidy farmers markets!

They have all the regular stuff, drinks, funnel cakes, garlic fries, rides and live music. It always brings back memories from years ago. The bad thing is that just to go it in for a family of 5 was $50 dollars and then the rides, food and wine/beer another $200. Guess what cash only to get in. Inside there are ATMs ($5.00 fee) and you can only get $100 dollars at a time. Luckily we had some cash. I really think if you spend this much money you should get in for free. It can be hard on some families to go and hang out with such high costs. But that aside the live bands on either side of the park, various tables to eat at and lots of zucchini bread (muffins on point $3.00 each) and fried zucchini delicious. I bought my commemorative 2017 wine glass with a serving of white zin for $10. Also available for beer with glass beer mugs. Philly cheese sandwiches, fish tacos, calamari, street tacos. Also jewelry, clothing, nick nacks of all kinds. Parking can be tough. Street parking and the parks parking lot or lots of people parking at Target. I got lucky and found street parking. But I will probably pass next year. Too expensive, not enough interesting things to do or see. Zucchini festival need to step up their game ASAP!!! I still love my Hayward though always have and always will.

The overall rating of 3 stars is appropriate. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hayward-zucchini-festival-hayward?select=dYSPf__c4ER98iLJE75kdg#41SxUmKUYCEKwtwWZfhESw: I was kind of a rebel. I walked in without paying because I was lazy and had a bad attitude (I didn't feel like walking to one of the official entrances, and I ignored this girl who tried to stop me- "Okay..."). My wife couldn't follow me in (she got blocked off by some guy), and so she paid $8 to enter (her purse was searched- the only thing lethal I had on me was my bad sense of humor). The tickets double as coupons for The Mexican, a restaurant that's just across the street ("20% Off your next on premise visit only"). Anyway, I'm glad that I didn't pay (the Fremont Festival of the Arts is much larger, and admission is free). http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hayward-zucchini-festival-hayward?select=dYSPf__c4ER98iLJE75kdg#socer8wJKXaipbNyzfww_A: The cashier was quite friendly. The guy grilling the food was a bit curt, but I only had to wait a minute for my hot dog. It would have been nice if there was a wider selection of drinks. In terms of the napkins, there were probably some around, but it wasn't obvious. There are about 5 good art booths. In general, though, we weren't interested in buying anything but food (there are a decent number of promotional booths, and we didn't check any of them out). http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hayward-zucchini-festival-hayward?select=dYSPf__c4ER98iLJE75kdg#IKhgQFTa30gT0BWoYo-PNw: The Kaye Bohler Band rocked the Main Stage (the Bohannon Stage is on the other side of the park- it's part of the kids area). Kaye has a powerful and bluesy voice. At the end of the show, she announced that customers who bought 2 CD's for $30 would be placed on the mailing list. The Rock Bottom Boys perform this afternoon. They're a fun and wonderful group (we saw them perform at the Alameda County Fair). As another reviewer mentions, zucchini isn't as prevalent as you would think. You can buy zucchini bread (for $4) and fried zucchini (for $6). That's about it. On the plus side, the zucchini bread is supposed to be great. We didn't look at them, but souvenirs are sold here. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hayward-zucchini-festival-hayward?select=dYSPf__c4ER98iLJE75kdg#bWle6qSKjx8-pRR-2KTknw: http://docsqnpit.com/: I was going to order from the other BBQ booth, but I noticed that their menu was more limited. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hayward-zucchini-festival-hayward?select=dYSPf__c4ER98iLJE75kdg#RKDtH2H7C3KudwEHpGpmxA: I'm anal when it comes to writing. On the menu, Link Sandwich should be Hot Link Sandwich, and Pull Pork should be Pulled Pork. Anyway, I would have asked for the sauce on the side if I knew that my hot link was going to be drenched with it. The main issue, though, is that it just wasn't that flavorful. It would have been fine if I got no sauce at all. The cashier struck me as being a bit crazy (he kept shouting and repeating himself). He and the others worked well together, though, and I only had to wait a minute for my hot link sandwich. Rib Meal: $11. Slab: $24. If possible (even a big eater like me can only eat so much), I would have bought a Rib Meal and also a Philly Cheesesteak (at least 3 booths sell them). At one point, we had to search for someplace to sit, but there's plenty of seating (I didn't know if these women in front of us were mother and daughter or lesbian lovers). At some spots, the ground is a bit uneven, so be careful while you're walking. We were here for over an hour. It was a good experience overall. It's worth going to the festival for the food and music. Kids should also have fun. I can't say, though, that it's worth $8 to enter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Binebu5mwkA

There was also a bit of entertainment in between events, like a lip sync contest and a pee wee stampede for the kids. The sound system wasn't the greatest, it cut out a couple times, but it wasn't terrible. And views were great from anywhere in the arena. The bleacher seats were nasty though, dirtiest on the shady side, not just dusty, but sticky and slimy, dead insects, just ewww. Concessions, mainly offered by Hayward Rotary, were limited compared to similar events elsewhere. They sold the typical hot dogs, nachos, kettle corn, and cotton candy, along with snow cones and ice cream. Besides soda, few beverage options were available, just one kind of beer, red/white wine, and whiskey lemonade which came in two choices of flavors. We chose peach over apple, and it was tasty and refreshing with very little alcohol content. There were also several merchandise vendors, including plenty of hat tents, though I didn't find a cowgirl hat I liked. We enjoyed our time at this multiday event, and though we just came for the pro rodeo main show, they also offered a cowboy style tri tip dinner & live music for guests on Saturday evening. But that cost extra, almost twice as much as the rodeo admission price. Also the parking lot was full/closed early, and people just parked anywhere they could fit their cars, along the road, on the curbs, in the dirt, etc.
