I do not suggest working with catalog kings for two primary reasons: Quality of print and customer service. We received our job late and the quality was not acceptable. We asked for a refund. Instead, they issued store credit. We didn't appreciate our funds being held captive, but gave them a second chance. The product on this run was worse than the first. Uneven margins, inconsistent ink, etc. Customer Service: They don't answer the phone. If you ask for a call via email, they don't call you. Our sales rep Rob and owner Kory are slow to respond. This is one of the worst printers i have ever worked with. The owner Kory could not be more condescending when asked about the countless errors he and his staff made. Barely any apologies and always turned things around to place blame. The mistakes they made were beyond simple human error and there was always some kind of excuse (lateness, issues with fulfillment, etc). Their quality of print is not up to par either. In 30 years, I have not had any other catalog mailing company repeatedly fail to manage and seemingly fail to understand the crucial nature of timelines and process organization. This company could be sharply competitive by simply streamlining automation and systems thinking. They chased our business for years until we relented and tried four jobs with them. Emails seeking total costs were not responded to, so we backed away again. When we did a test job with them, the prepress person called while driving to work instead of emailing their questions like every other printer on Earth. This served to only further complicate the transmission of information. Even when all necessary information is submitted with the job, they would request it again--sometimes multiple times--before it went on the press. When we had a job with tight delivery window, they committed to it and then delivered before the window. They lost our credit application. When we made a payment, we had to reiterate proof to four different people. Submitting print files and direct mailing lists suffered similar circumstances and redundant work. Then, even though they had finally approved our credit application and having a credit card on file, they held a holiday brochure mailing for a check to be mailed to them without telling us it was on hold. We told them that we could only continue working with them if they automated these systems to not need us to handhold them through every step, as we do dozens of these campaigns each year and with their competitors we simply give them print files, mailing list, payment, and proof approval. They insisted that they could work with this, we tried again, and over three weeks into our next holiday mailing window, customers still had not received the materials. When we pointed this out, they argued that we had changed the timeline when they wanted to mail weeks before the window and we reminded them to wait. In each instance, we received no compensation. Five figures of sales losses. Fourth time, shame on me for Bielieving that they would change. Back to our old printers who didn't spend years fighting for our business and came from industry referrals, I guess. read more
