The Good: no reservations and open when otgers are closed. Clean Clean facilities and a water pump cheap The Bad: There is no campground host so basically we listened to people scream obscenities and fart and laugh until 2 am maybe 3 am. Kids were running around unattanded until 1 am they were getting into people stuff. So it was noisy and these one campers were foul mouthed - awful. Not to mention dirt bikes until 11 pm behind the camp and some guy using a chainsaw at MIDNIGHT- the neighbors make it known they do not like the campground They also had a group that I guess lives here for the Season- they were tge ones that went to bed and let their kids run around unattended - while parents were asleep. Also NO SHAdE Now I know it was a weekend and people should be loud and have fun but NOT after 11 even 12 am and not swearing Stay if everything else is closed but be warned read more

nice, clean and conveniently located. the spots were close together and didn't offer much privacy but if you just looking for a place to drop for the night while you spend your days exploring, this is the place. we had spot #10 and it seemed to be one of the more treed spots although there is one spot super close to you. but again, for $25 a night, a clean bathroom, a fire pit and firewood that wasn't overpriced, like all the other firewood around on a July 4th weekend, we can't complain. We loved the first come first served way of doing things since we can't be the only people who decide on a whim to take a trip to the UP and have no plans in place on where to stay. It was a risky move on a holiday weekend so we were more than happy to find Catching Crickets. I would maybe suggest adding a few more bathrooms. There was a situation where there was a line outside, someone who was taking a while inside and a little girl about to pee her pants. Another unit right next door would have been a comfort and less pressure for the user who knows there is a line outside, lol. there was one other unit on the other side of the campground but that's a long way to go only to find out that one is full too. I'm sure adding another is a big expense but it would make things a bit more comfortable for everyone. overall, it was a nice experience. Thanks! read more

Tried to get a campsite in the National Park, but everything was full so this was the only campground with spots so we stayed for two nights. The campground isn't much, off a two lane highway with mostly just gravel and grass camp sites. Definitely not the up north woodsy campground we were hoping for, but for what it was, it was very clean and well maintained. The toilet was always clean and stocked. They sold firewood there, too. Each site had a fire ring and picnic table. Not a lot of privacy. We were lucky to get a camp site next to the woods so still felt a little more with nature, however there were no trees in the campground so when the sun was high until like 7:30pm it was very very hot - no shade at all. If you got one of the middle camp sites it was literally a plot of grass surrounded by gravel. This was also $20/night vs the state and national park campgrounds which were $14-$16. So you pay more for less which was a little frustrating. Close drive into Munising though. read more
