Flashbacks galore here to 1994, when my sister and brother in law got married and celebrated here at their CRYSTAL BALLROOM! We all had a blast, and I remember how yummy the food was! Yesterday's celebration was held at their RED PINE INN. What a beautiful, heavily pine wooded space! Lots of twinkley white lights too. So cozy!!! We gathered for a 30th Anniversary wedding vow renewal. The bride came down the spiral stairs and the day flowed so nicely from there. The Masso's package chosen included really quality hors d'oeuvres, probably eight choices of meats, pastas, and vegetables, a dessert table and toasting champagne. On Saturday (8/12/2023) we had some family over and called in an order of 5 sandwiches. Special thanks to Dawn who had them ready by the time I arrived to pick them up - only about 15 minutes. The quality of the food was appreciated by everyone partaking. The consistent quality of the food and the timeliness of the order makes the deli at Massos an easy choice. As far as affordability... if you haven't looked at the menu recently (or ever), now is the time! A cheesesteak sub for $6.25? Are you kidding me? Elsewhere that's easily a $10-$14 purchase. Masso's is a 4 generation Italian restaurant/deli and catering hall. It's the first place we ate at when we moved nearby. We ordered the Italian hoagie and it was the best I had ever eaten. The meat, cheese, bread were all so fresh and it tasted homemade! It was rich but not heavy. It had an olive oil with a bit of kick and half of it was a meal for me! The service was kind. I also grabbed the frozen marinara sauce and meatballs which were delicious. I'll definitely be back for more! read more

This review is for the catering hall aspect of this business, and from a guest's POV. It does not in any way suggest that the wedding reception was bad. The parents of the bride were gracious and generous hosts, and a great time was had by all due to the stunning newly wedded couple, and their happy guests. The reception was held in the catering hall, where there seems to be ample space and staff to host 2 concurrent events. This space seemed out of date, but clean and utilitarian. The front garden section seems like a nice spot for wedding party photos. I'm not an expert on catered food( thank God) but have to admit that quality was lacking. I won't even comment on the apps and passed hors d'oeuvres, but the main dishes need to be addressed. Crab cakes, if I was blindfolded and asked to taste I might say it was some type of seafoodesque cake, but not crab. Unless by crab they meant shells and other unused parts. Chicken parm, not even served with pasta and a disgrace to Italians everywhere. Beef, no, I won't even bother. The service aspect was fair. The many servers seemed moody and unfriendly, although efficient. I thought the began to clear things too quickly, be it between courses or at the end if the night. So the big question I guess is if I would recommend this spot. Not knowing the cost of this per person versus other venues it is hard for me to say. I will say that if I were to receive an invite to attend another event here I would not be excited to partake in the food. The shrimp stir fry tasted like it came from a frozen bag out of Walmart. the sausage and peppers were not cooked, Someone should show them how to make a pulled pork, cause what they gave us was deli sliced pork in BBQ sauce. I also had no idea it was possible to screw up chicken parm but they did. the chicken was dry and thick. I would never eat food from here again read more

Masso's is a Family friendly place. I have been to many events at the catering Halls and have always had exceptional service. Venue and bathrooms are always clean and decorated nicely. We recently had my twin granddaughter's birthday party there (March 2019) and had a great time. The food was good. The employees couldn't do enough to help and made us all feel special. TL:DR - Masso's doesn't care about their clients and will lie and deny until they get as much money out of you as they can. I booked this venue with optimism in the fall of last year. My wedding is scheduled for October 2020. This pandemic was unforseen by all parties. We reached out to Masso's almost 6mo ago trying to work out a fair option for the company and ourselves by offering them to keep our deposit of $1000 and to cancel the wedding because they could not garuantee the event. They denied our offer multiple times over the last few months stating that the pandemic was overrated and people were paranoid and that everything will be fine for the event. They have continued to drag this out all while increasing our cancelation fees almost to the full amount of the entire event. We have even offered to reschedule to a date somewhere in 2021 to make sure the event will be held appropriately and they said they would require another $1000 deposit because it would be a new year. While I understand that today's circumstances are out of both of our control, I've offered more than reasonable options to them and they have given me nothing but a headache and a heavy heart knowing that one of the most important days of my life will be completely ruined because they want a paycheck. 75% of my guest list has backed out of the event out of fear and Masso's is being incredibly reckless to the health of the community by forcing this to go through, and making us spend more than $10k on an event that maybe 25 people are allowed to attend. Bottom line, do not book with this venue if this is how they respond to clients. For a family owned business, this is inconceivable and truly vile for them to prey on people in a critical time. My wife and I had our wedding reception here in 2008. Not only is this a wonderful log cabin type atmosphere for a small reception, but the price was unbelievably low. I kept worrying that the service or the food quality would suffer because of the price, but the service was great and the food was perfectly adequate. We had my daughter's baby shower at the Red Pine Inn this past weekend. The other grandmother & I hosted it. When we entered the space, the day of the shower, we were pleasantly surprised. The room looked great. The tables were beautifully set with white linen tablecloths, blue linen napkins & beautiful artificial flower arrangements. They had tables already set up for the gifts & an extra table for whatever we needed it for. They had linens are those tables, as well. The food was very good & plenty of it. There were pitchers of water, soda & coffee on each table, which were quickly refilled as needed. We had 2 wonderful servers, both named Kathy, that took awesome care of us. I would highly recommend using Masso's & the Red Pine Inn. Thank you for a great day! read more

I attended a wedding recently here. The wedding reception took place at their Orchard Garden venue, which is in a large white tent. The actual ceremony was pretty nice, but it was downhill from there. As stated, the reception was located in a large white tent. By large, I mean LARGE, with very high "ceilings." Anyway, upon entering and immediately to the left was the bar, with two bar tenders. They did fine throughout the evening, though there were complaints the drinks were "weak" or "watered down." In front of us were the tables, followed by the dance floor, then the newleyweds sweetheart table. I'm not sure who is to blame for this, but the venue wasn't decorated very good/ at all. Barely any thing that would scream "wedding." It was dressed up as more of a banquet for a sports team. Sure, the tables had the usual "wedding" look, but other than that there was literally nothing. Also, the high ceilings just made it feel less like a wedding, and more like a banquet. As someone looking at venues and to get married in a year or so, this isn't a place I'd want to hold my reception. The bathrooms, at first, were clean and presentable. About 2-3 hours into reception I entered and there was vomit all over the toilet seat. I came back again sometime later and it was still there. I told one of the servers who said they'd take care of it, but that clearly never happened. I didn't notice or see anyone in "charge" to say something to. I was trying to save the venue the embarrassment. Oh well. The Food. The couple had a buffet style dinner. Nothing wrong with that. What was wrong, was the food. The "chicken parm" was dry, luke warm, had almost no sauce or cheese, and didn't even come with any pasta. No one at our table liked it. The Tortellini was also, luke warm, and very over cooked. Way too mushy. The roast beef, also very very dry. There weren't any raves for any of the food that I could hear. The desserts were pretty good though. I do not think they are made on the premises. There are other complaints, but I don't think they're worth mentioning at this time. Overall, this particular venue isn't one I would seek our or recommend to anyone for a wedding. A banquet, sure, but for a wedding it doesn't work. There's no romance, or intimacy. And the food is average, at best. read more

Cold and disgusting food seemed like it was from Walmart freezer section.. roaches by the serving plates stink bugs on the curtains. Almost nothing was organized and it seemed like none of the staff knew what was going on the ENTIRE time. Parents and grandparents names were not announced upon walking out, staff didn't even know what was in the food they were serving when asked, venue was old and outdated. Smelled like a nursing home and the horrible food definitely matched. All the appetizers were fried and flavorless, the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting (2/4 soap dispensers broken, no toilet paper, several toilets not flushing). Music randomly went off during ceremony part of wedding. Music was HORRIBLE.... Not one person on the dance floor because nobody knew any of the songs and when one was requested it didn't play for atleast half of an hour. My husband and I just got married here a week ago. We got married outside at the Grand Wooded Falls. It was beautiful. Perfect wedding. We had the reception inside and it was gorgeous. They couldn't do enough for us. Our maitre de Kathy was just wonderful. The food was amazing all my guests complimented on it. Also the cake was the best wedding cake I've ever had at a wedding. I would recommend everyone to massos. They set up for you. I had nothing to worry about. They let me and my bridesmaids inside to freshen up before the ceremony as well. Let's see I'll start with the food. It was sub par to say the least. Strangely there were 8 different main entrees on plate that was served. Veal scalapini tasted gamey and mushrooms were from a can. Shrimp that were in with pasta had overwhelming taste of ammonia. Scalloped potatoes were from a box. I felt badly for father of bride who spent much of his hard earned money on this reception. I forgot about the hors devoirs. Everything on the tray was fried and dried up. Unappealing. Btw the father of the bride tipped the bartender ahead of time to get better service well it didn't work. He was miserable. Not sure where he was washing glasses but we were served our drinks in dirty glasses. If you've saved your money for your reception don't waste it here. read more

months of planning only to fail the week of, after the money was paid. nick masso, the owner called me the day before to bump my bill up by over $1000, by upselling me. they should have upsold me on chaffers and serving utensils weeks prior. what a racket?!? the owners were supposed to come out and set up the food tables, carving stations, plates, etc. 310 salad plates were left under a table, the wrong tablecloths were put on the food tables, no salt and pepper was brought and the proper serving utensils were not put out. I am sure that I am missing something. it was the blind leading the blind. no left over food and not everyone knew that there were appetizers. masso's promised to come out and set up everything on tuesday...chairs, tables, tents, lights, dance floor, bars, serving utensils, silverware and more. the only thing that I was supposed to receive on thursday were linens. they came out tuesday, thursday and friday...and make no mistake, I tipped every single person, every single day. I had to cancel my manicure and pedicure for the morning before the wedding because they had to come out a third day. matthew was the only saving grace. when confronted with their mishaps, nothing was done and they wouldn't even take a personal check for the $1,000 bill that remained, as if the other $24,000 hadn't cleared. I at first thought that this company was caring and wonderful...my mistake. stay away from them, they are simply awful...too many issues to list them all. everything that was done was done half way and there are too many people involved. they don't really have it together nor do they communicate well with each other. so disappointing... read more

Like the other reviewer, I too was married here in 2008. I wish I could give a more recent review than this, but alas I have not had the need to get remarried. We had the ceremony outdoors in front of their waterfall, which was beautiful. Then the reception was indoors in the "red pine inn". It is a lovely log cabin atmosphere. The price was good and they took excellent care of us. The staff is friendly and will take care of as much of the planning as you need them to. If you wish, they will provide you with catering, photography, music, and cake. Any of these elements can be replaced if you wish. I have only two complaints, but they are fairly minor. One, many of the cake choices (as of 2008) were woefully out of date. They had staircases leading from one tier to another, like in the 70s. The pictures of them were noticeably faded, even. We did find a nice modern design among the choices, though, so it wasn't all bad. Two, the in-house photographer's portfolio was unimpressive. The pictures were nice, but uninspired and very standard. We ended up bringing our own photographer instead so it wasn't an issue for us. I recommend touring the place and seeing if it's what you're looking for. It's a great way to have a nice classy wedding without spending too much. Don't be put off by the general feeling of old-fashionedness in the office and clock shop; the actual venues and events themselves are top notch. read more

Just had my wedding in the Orchard Garden (tent) last weekend and it was awesome! Our Maitre'D Rocky was great start to finish making sure everything went flawlessly. Our head server was so nice (I don't remember her name) and all of the serving staff was great as well. Our families have been to a bunch of weddings and loved the different look and feel of the tent. We received a lot of compliments! We had our ceremony at a church 45 minutes away and were racing to Masso's afterwards to get pictures by the waterfall before it got dark. We had plenty of time for pictures and even had an hour to spare before our guests arrived for cocktail hour. Masso's let us into our venue and even opened the bar early for the bridal party and let us start on the cold hors d'oeuvres. We had two bartenders which my husband and I were worried about b/c we had 200 guests and they like to drink! But there was barely ever a line, they even compromised with us and pulled one of their servers during cocktail hour to serve drinks so there wouldn't be a wait for our guests. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. I will admit our tasting was a little lacking, but the food we chose was great!! We had buffet style but the head tables were served by staff which was nice, especially for our grandparents. My husband and I really have no complaints and I can't say enough good things. My fiancee and I contacted Masso's about having our ceremony and reception at their venue and asked if they did small weddings. They said they did and we set up an appointment. When we arrived finding the office to begin with was confusing, and when we did the receptionist was extremely rude when she asked about how many people we were expecting. She said she needed to talk to Mr. Masso and ask if we could have it there with so little people, when she said we emailed someone earlier she didn't care. She had a sit at a table that was in the middle of their deli and the offices that had file folders all over the place, out in the open, which made us uncomfortable to begin with. She said Mr. Masso had come in and said they could do it, which was a lie, as we could see her from where we were sitting and no one came in and she called no one. She went through the menu in a rush, then took us to the pine inn where the table and chairs were in terrible condition. I asked if they'd be covered and she said the tables would be, but that if we want the chairs covered it's an additional charge per chair. Outrageous!!!!!! read more
