This place is great.
Not only do you get the chance to walk round a truly wonderful cathedral built 1500 years ago, but you get to enjoy excellent food and drink in a brilliantly and sympathetically done cafe inside.
It's thoroughly modern in it's design and layout, yet compliments the history that surrounds it perfectly.
The food is lovingly made. Fresh ingredients, well put together, canteen style, no fuss, no bother, prices which reflect that. Good veg dishes, lots of salads and pastas. And nice cake selection too. I believe it's all made on the premises
You could happily eat at the refectory every lunchtime. And the Sunday roast is really very good. A well cooked huge plate of food under a tenner. Free water from the cooler, free wifi if you need it. Job's a good 'un.
A classic example of a modern venture which respects it's wonderful surroundings.
Who would begrudge queuing for that? Not me. read more
