Ty Cathey came to my house for an estimate on trimming my shrubs, staking, planting and transplanting. We discussed everything in detail with Ty even giving me suggestions on what to plant. He was very pleasant and accommodating. He eventually emailed a formal estimate. I had a couple of questions, and submitted them online. I received a call from his father, Dough Cathey, telling me he was the owner of the business and Ty's father. He told me they don't do the work that Ty had already quoted. However, instead of apologizing for being misinformed, he was very rude, disrespectful and condescending, and ended up telling me he could not have a business relationship with me. Replied almost immediately then told me they were booked through May. When requesting at least an estimate for mowing, edging and bagging/disposing of clippings they came back with $225 per mow???!!! They boys made quick work of our yard! Looks great now! I've never had a problem doing my yard myself, but with all the rains lately and allergies I just wasn't in the mood. They came in and cut it all down and did the weed whacking plus hauled away a bunch of limbs (A lot!). I don't have a truck so this saved me a ton of time and work! Doug Cathey and his team removed a very large but damaged tree that was up close to our house. They did an excellent job, they were exactly on time, have excellent equipment, they controlled the many dropped limbs so they did not damage anything, chipped up the limbs and hauled all the debris away. His workers are excellent and very friendly. Except for the tree being gone, you cannot tell they were ever on the premises. Best of all they were far less expensive than two other local tree services. In the future, will call them for all tree removal and tree trimming services. read more

Hired them for bi-weekly lawn maintenance. Was happy with this until I hired them to do some masonry work and install flowers beds. The work they did is completely subpar and possibly makes my yard look worse. They also never finished the job. When contacted if they were going to finish the job and fix the gaping holes in the brick they never responded. They also didn't show up to do the scheduled lawn maintenance this week. Avoid them at all costs. Will take your money, not finish the project and do terrible job, and run. read more

I've tried a multitude of lawn care companies. This one is by far the worst. These people just show up when they want. I was told 5 and they came at 3:30 without letting me know they were there. No text no call. They never seem to care what services I want either. After I chased them down to ask if they were indeed the right people, while they mowed my yard, I told them I'd appreciate an initial consult as I've had things I've wanted done for weeks. Just a knock on the door or a text. Then I get a call from the owner saying they're going to finish mowing and just leave without doing any of the services I wanted. Yes, theyre cheap and they did my last mow for free and said they'd never return as though we had some childish spat. Well, I didn't need the charity. I was offering to pay twice the cost if need be. They just now left, and my flowerbeds are full of weeds, my shrubs uncut, and leaves in my backyard. This is the kind of company you'll be getting. Buyer beware. read more

I called for a simple estimate; someone to come to my house and give me an estimate of mulching leaves, and trim the shrubs. No one answered the phone, so I left a message for someone to call me. These folks brag about how they respond within 2 hours. Really? I called 5 days ago for an estimate, and I have yet to hear from this company! After being notified by my insurance company of a problem with the tree limbs being on the roof at my main home as well as a rental property we have, my broker recommended Doug Cathey to me. Doug runs a small family business specializing in lawn and tree service. Once I contacted Doug and explained the insurance thing to him he went right to work. He gave me very reasonable quotes for tree service at both properties the very next day and, once I accepted, the trees at both properties were professionally trimmed within 2 days. He and his crew spent almost 7 hours working at my main home on probably the hottest day of the year. It was like 105 degrees f on that day, and not only were they professional, they were very respectful and performed a thorough cleanup when they were done. I had called every tree service I could find online and they were all booked for two weeks to a month. All of the conversations were friendly and professional, but no one would come out for my emergency tree trim. I called Cathey's Lawn Care and Doug, the angel, answered. He too was 2 weeks out and on a job in Pflugerville. I guess he could hear the desperation in my voice so he asked me where I lived. He said he would be done with his job in two hours and would come look at what I had, and if job wasn't too big he would do it. When he arrived, I showed him the tree (that was surrounded by a jungle of bushes). He said he would take care of it. I explained I had to run and get my son from school. No problem... by the time I got back he had cut back the tree from the house as well as pruned my bushes. I can actually see the side of that house again and can walk through to the back yard again. I haven't walked on that side of the yard in 5 years. I can't say enough about this wonderful man. The tree looks great! The bushes...Wow! Just a great job and super nice guy and team.
