Dr. Brown did my second surgery back in late August (although it seems like yesterday). He was very good at telling me exactly what was happening. He kept me in the loop and explained everything in simple terms. He answered any questions my Mom and I had. After my surgery was done, he went out and talked to my Mom and explained what happened. He also didn't seem to mind me talking about my cats. When I went in for my post-op appointment a week later, he asked me about them. I also feel like Dr. Brown's thorough and cares about me. I think he felt bad for me when I told him how 2 of my cats kind of acted like punks after my surgery. One of them knocked my glasses case off of my nightstand the night of my surgery. When I bent over to pick them up the next morning, I had pain bending over. One of my other cats jumped on me when I was in bed and stepped on one of my incisions. I plan on seeing Dr. Brown for my yearly exams from now on. I went in yesterday for another post-op exam. He asked me about my cats again. I was a little emotional talking about one of them, Mac, who got really sick last year and passed away. He treated me with dignity, respect, kindness and like a human. I feel lucky.

As nervous as I was being my first pregnancy- the Doctor put me to ease right away. He is kind, makes me feel comfortable and always answers my questions. Although he was off duty BOTH times I delivered my children, Dr Amankwah was the one who made sure I made it full term. The ladies in his office who help him are amazing and you can tell they enjoy being at work. I would recommend not only SDMG for your health needs, but specifically Doctor Amankwah as well.

The doctor entered the exam room without appearing to have reviewed my medical chart, asked me the same questions multiple times, dismissed my concerns by saying, "It's no big deal," and ultimately refused to provide treatment. When I attempted to advocate for myself and explain my concerns, he abruptly told me to "get dressed and leave" before storming out of the room. As a patient, I expected to be treated with professionalism, respect, and compassion. Instead, I left feeling dismissed, humiliated, and unheard. No patient should be made to feel that their concerns are insignificant or be spoken to in such a disrespectful manner. I believe patients deserve safe, attentive, and respectful medical care, and I sincerely hope no one else has an experience like mine.

The second I stepped into this PP I felt immediate relief and comfort. Every single person along the way was incredibly kind and attentive. I touched base with about 8 (yes, 8!) staff throughout my appointment process (from front desk to nurses and doctors) and I always felt so safe and completely heard. Aside from the comfort the staff brought me, they are all very knowledgeable and I never felt like anything was done only half way. I traveled about an hour to visit this Planned Parenthood as opposed to one closer to me and it was so worth it to leave feeling more whole than when I arrived. I really like my doctor but you get scheduled with all of them depending on who's available. The Sonó lady in room 3 is by far the best (blonde with glasses). She really tries to get a good picture of your baby. The others rush through your sonó. Getting to see your baby is the best part and it would have been nice to get a somewhat good photo. I don't like how they take blood In The room up on the high angled patient seat. One nurse refused to let me sit in a normal chair even after I told her I have fainted when I have given blood before. She was so rude. The nurses also don't answer the phone. Like ever. You have to wait for a call back which is sometimes frustrating. Also the receptionist at exit, desk furthest from door is not easy to work with. I tell her I need later afternoon apts and she gives me a hard time about it every single time. The others are more than willing to accommodate. Sometimes the wait to see a doctor is terrible. I waited 45 mins multiple times and the nurses never even came back to check on me to let me know it was going to be a while. I thought I was forgotten. I do like it here overall and will continue to come here even though it's a bit of a drive. Just some feedback for improvement!

During my last pregnancy, I repeatedly expressed concerns about my symptoms -- including leg pain -- and felt they were not taken seriously. My blood pressure was not properly monitored, and just three weeks before my due date I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and preeclampsia, which was extremely concerning. Now in my second pregnancy, less than 10 weeks in, I've already experienced enough frustration with the lack of consistency and attentiveness. At this point, I decided to leave the practice, and I'm relieved that I did.
