Breakfast provided every morning, in the common room (I was treated to some delicious home made pancakes). Rooms are very clean and neat, very hot running water, and great views of the landscape. We stayed in a large room with a queen sized bed and it also had a fireplace. We didn't get to enjoy making a fire because we spent the whole time at the mountains and then slept. Plenty of room for what you and your partners want to do, enough parking and the place itself is located in the middle of two towns which have most things you would need to survive, in case you forget something. I will definitely stay here again to experience all the different breakfasts that the owners prepare.

Remember when you drove long-distance on vacation with your parents in a station wagon and would need a motel along the way? You rarely reserved in advance and there were relatively few chains besides Holiday Inn and Best Western. Everyone carried AE Travelers Cheques. That illuminated "Vacancy" sign from the highway let you know there was a room to be had for weary travelers. Well, this is it. I wanted a hotel about an hour south of Utica for a particular night to avoid too much driving the next morning. Sidney/Bainbridge was exactly the spot on my route. I'd booked it over the Super 8 on the highway based on reviews and not wanting to detour all the way to Oneonta since my reason was to save time the next morning. I arrived at 10:30pm, as planned. You call a number from the office and the owner/family/staff "come down" and check you in. They actually live there--great safety feature for a female traveling alone. My room was clean and very comfortable, if spare and exactly as advertised. Great value too. It did not smell musty. Bath amenities and towels were nice quality. It had a microwave and refrigerator and flat-screen TV, but sadly no coffee maker or even a glass or ceramic coffee mug to heat water (I'd brought a tea bag...), sigh. I'm quite sure they'd have accommodated a request, but I wasn't going to ask at 10:45pm. I will confirm some other reviews: it does seem to cater to people who work on the road and get up early. I suspect some are regulars M-Thurs. There appeared to be a communal space with a gas grill outside (great for group travelers or work teams). I did hear the person in the room above me--not loud or annoying, but it might be for someone not used to apartment living. A freight train came by at 6:30am (I'd gotten up at 6, so no big deal). There are no late night dining options, but there are some gas station/markets to procure something if you need and didn't bring. Early the next morning I awoke to some bird song. The Susquehanna River is literally just behind the motel (well down hill--no flood worries and the river was in flood-emergency when I was there). The delightful surprise was the cute coffee and breakfast/lunch options in Bainbridge, which I definitely recommend. If you're early enough in the evening, there are plenty of dinner options. Because of the proximity to parks and natural areas, this would be a fantastic vacation motel for several days or even a week on a limited budget. Suggestions for improvement: coffee mugs and coffee maker in the room and a black-out curtain for the front window. I turned out the porch light in front of my door, but the light from the neighboring door was on all night and illuminated my room from the gaps in the shade. There are four sites/types of dwellings (you can view photos on their website - I don't even want to post too many to not spoil the delight and surprise of discovering for yourself): Forest Belle, Bellfire Tipi, the Birdhouse, and Cosmic Nomad - which is the wagon we stayed in as it's the only one that sleeps four with 2 beds (double queen bunks) and is perfect for a little family. It is decorated like a gypsy caravan and is so cozy, cute, and comfortable! We marveled over the exquisite and intricate workmanship of the carpentry, the folksy & fabulous interior decorative design, and the charming little touches that elegantly express the love and labor that have gone into the creation of this magical place. It's so full of personality and wonder! The surroundings are stunning, with amenities such as a sun shower, sauna & cold plunge, yoga deck, private fire pits, and plenty of space to roam around the fields or stargaze. Even the bathrooms are adorable! One is assigned to each cabin. The area is peaceful, lush, serene, and private. Being used to camping and not glamping, I packed way more than I needed (Rich was kind enough to give us and our multitude of bags a lift in his golf cart as our cabin is at the very back of the property). Pretty much everything you need, apart from personal toiletries, are provided - comfortable bedding, grill & charcoal, picnic table, fresh water, paper plates/cups & bamboo utensils, single burner stove, tea kettle, etc. There is also a sweet little gift shop that sells firewood and some handmade items. The hosts could not have been lovelier or more hospitable. Mina even gave us some eggs from her hens! They are such an inspiration, as is this gorgeous slice of heaven they've brought to life. It's a great place to get away from the city and relax in nature, especially if you enjoy outdoors activities. There are a few small, sparse but cute towns in the vicinity, with good restaurants. Nearby there's the Catskills Scenic Trail, Mount Utsanyantha Fire Tower (cool views), Mine Kill State Park, and other local trails. And you can also hit up most of the 3500 peaks within a 30-60 min drive (Balsam Lake, Big Indian, Slide, Hunter-Westkill, Indian Head, Kaaterskill wilderness areas). A small and remote historic treasure when you want to fall off the grid!…read more 12' tall lilac bushes adorn the outside for a spring visit that will make you blush. Imagine the aroma of 100's of blossoms filling the air while you relax in your historic room. While visiting, I witnessed flocks of blue Jay birds rampaging the bird feeders. Several other species also showed up making a spectacular show! I swear, some of the Blue Jays were big enough to eat! Astounding bird watching in the sunroom with hot coffe. The coffee here is amazing! I don't drink black coffee, but the coffee here was so good I actually drank it black! The rooms are intriguing with period correct furniture, wallpaper, and bathroom fixures. It is like stepping back in time. I had zero cell service, but they did have wifi available. It was nice to be off the grid for a few days. They were able to work with all my food issues: gluten free, lactose free, and other ailments. Food was great! So glad I ran across this little gem Bed and Breakfast!
