After Christmas I took my dog to Cavan Vets in Yardley, Birmingham. The vet examined him and told me he had a small heart murmur and that he needed heart tablets. Within three weeks after taking the tablets, my dog was still not very well. I took him back to Cavan Vets and saw another vet, who examined him and said he had a lump in his stomach and that he needed to give him an urgent x-ray at the Hall Green practice. The vet gave my dog another heart tablet to take alongside the one he was already taking, but my dog seemed to be getting worse after taking that second tablet. On Monday morning I took my dog down to the Hall Green practice and after waiting 15 minutes in the car for the practice to open, I was told that they had to cancel my dog's x-ray because there was no available vets in the practice! The staff was not very friendly and not at all apologetic. After this we took him to another vet for a second opinion, and that vet told me that he did not recognise or prescribe Cavan's second tablet and to stop giving it to my dog immediately. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was not good and my dog passed away a couple of weeks later. I feel that my dog's stomach problems should have been picked up at the very first examination with Cavan, and my dog should never have been given the second tablets. Looking back, I wish I never went to Cavan Vets and my advice for anyone looking for a decent veterinary practice is to steer well clear of Cavan! read more
