My husband and I tried this taco cart (a distinctive black food truck located on the D Ave side of Castro Park between 9th and 10th Streets) for the first time today. It was easily the best food we've had in Douglas, and we were blown away! So fresh and generous with both the meat and the toppings. The owner's salsa is also top notch, spicy but very edible even in quantity. The pricing was very good, particularly including all the fresh tomato and avocado slices. We tried two types of tacos, the tostada, and this fantastic loaded type of quesadilla. It was like a quesadilla on steroids (it was more like the type I make at home, packed full of meat and vegetables). My hisband also had yummy curly fries. The cook gave excellent service and he helped us pick a couple dishes when he saw we were new. The ingredients are in Spanish, so this was very helpful. The lettuce and other veggies were very fresh and had no taste of cleaners or disinfectant (like soap, etc) that we have run into at other Douglas restaurants. That comment may sound strange, but we've encountered it more than once at other establishments. We are looking forward to trying everything on the menu! This taco cart would be a hit in any city. If you are used to the desert SW customer ratings, you may have noticed a lot of people rate VERY generously. I think it's the lack of options, sort of rating-by-comparison, "grading on a curve" effect. This taco cart is a real 5 star, an LA or Seattle 5-star.

I'm used to something resembling a "dip"......this was clearly along the lines of a fresh, cold, soup......all dolled up with fresh stuff in a giant molcajete. Now, I wanted to eat all of it! But I'm gonna guess this had at LEAST a pound of shrimp in it. I eat a lot, but I'd have been able to share this easily! The staff of Amerind had rave reviews of their burgers and salmon burgers. My husband had a juicy all sirloin green Chile cheese burger. It would have been cooked perfectly for me, medium, but not enough for him. He said it was really good but next time he will know to ask to have it cooked longer. The salmon was delicious on a toasted bun with lettuce. The service was friendly and fast. If you see the Wicked Burger truck at an event, I highly recommend giving it a try.

They are all fantastic. The pulled pork sandwich has lots of pork, cheese, and they added a thick layer of green chiles. The burgers are big and delicious, with several varieties.
