What a quaint and such fun place tucked away in the mountains! From the time we arrived the staff ( Megan) was beyond welcoming. From the cookies to the champagne it was very special. Our room was perfect! Just what I needed for a get away. Well we went off for dinner for at night and decided to take an Uber since it was New Year's Eve and we were not familiar with the area. When it came time to leave , our uber never showed up! We tried again and again to no avail! Called the one and only taxi in the town and she was unable to give us any definite answer. My last hope was to call the lodge . I felt terrible as it was getting later by the minute. It was their New Year's celebration going on. No one was able to answer so I left a message for their manager Sean hoping at 11:00 anyone would even be there to respond. Not even 5 minutes later Sean sent a text asking if we still needed help . This guy went above and beyond to help us out. He was there within minutes and got us back to the resort in time to celebrate with the other guests to bring in the new year! This place is a gem. We will definitely be back every year! They have covered every little detail here to make it special for each guests. Thank you again Sean for making this trip an awesome time! We will definitely be back!

In summary, what a beautiful setting, excellent service, delicious food, charming drinks, with every one of the staff members (owners included) just waiting to coddle and take care of your every whim and desire. Finding the Lodge the first time was a little challenging but just trust the GPS even though it looks like you're heading onto someone's property, stay on the road until you reach the top. Once there, be prepared to be pampered. The road up is a tad narrow, and when we arrived it was covered in leaves (we hit prime color change/leaf dropping) but it's not bad. The rest of the time the road was well cleared with turn-outs obvious and useful if needed (we didn't need one during travels in and out). We stayed in a room on the 1st floor at the end of the hall with a nice sitting room and patio with a beautiful view of the wooded hillside. The room was nice, fully functional and one nice feature were motion lights under the bed such that if you get up during the night you're not stumbling around to find the bathroom door. Loved that. They have a bar with well made drinks and a nice cozy sitting area with a fireplace and comfortable chairs we used to chat with the staff who helped fine tune our winery stops. They have a 'snack bar' (my term) complete with various snacks, cold drinks, a coffee drink, and freshly made cookies each day. Oh, and they will point out a nice little file box with room numbers with homemade candy that magically appears each afternoon! A delicious and generous breakfast is included that is FAR from the typical powered scrambled eggs, paper thin bacon (you know what I'm talkin' about!). No, this is a freshly made frittata, the best home fries I've ever had, fresh cut fruit and more. Great start to each day! They have an outdoor seating area complete with lights, an abundance of bar height chairs/tables, Adirondack chairs, and fire pits. A great way to spend an evening at sunset sipping your wine/cocktails and talking the evening away. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that we opted for the five-course prix fixe dinner in their large communal dining area known as "Wit & Wisdom". It was a great way to mingle with other guests, share stories, compare winery travels, and just share time and conversation. This alone was worth the price of admission! We added the wine pairing so we went all in, and we felt that we certainly got our money's worth out of it! Kicking it off with an Amuse-Bouche and wrapping up the next five-courses, while they appear small, we were absolutely stuffed when we were done. The wines were outstanding and it turned out to literally be the perfect ending to our glorious stay with owners Tommy & Heather and the entire staff that made sure we were fed, comfortable, and part of the Mountain Top 'family'. As I loaded the pictures, I realize I have to give a shout-out to Topher and the crew in the kitchen! You all demonstrate exceptional service and skill. Well Done!!!

It's not like you have a McDonald's or a Burger King right there lol. If you were up this high, why would you want to have regular fast food? Parking was easy probably because of the placement of it at the start of where you have a cabin area. They have to have parking for everybody. I'd already started dabbling in some wine so I wanted to stop off and this was the best option because it was the closest option and I wasn't disappointed. I was sad immediately and the waitstaff was pretty cool, pretty friendly. There's indoor and outdoor seating. It just depends on what the weather looks like but outdoor fit because it was a nice day the last time I went. They'll come out and bring you all the food and the water or anything like that. You can just still look at the grass and the green area in the scenes. Pimento cheese stuffed cornbread rolls - wasn't sure what to expect from these but they were actually pretty good. The spicy and the sweet of the butter helped it along very much but the cornbread was good too. The cornbread had a dollop of polenta inside of it so when you bite into it enough you'll get that extra cheese filling. Maple chili glazed Brussel sprouts - the Brussels sprouts are really good and they came on a huge plate full of them so it definitely was enough to share. You had nice balance with the pickled onions and the feta cheese to balance against the sweetness of the honey glaze so it was actually perfectly balanced to perfection and well charred. Hot chicken sandwich - the chicken sandwich was good but personally, to me, it wasn't a hot chicken sandwich at all. It was just a regular chicken sandwich because I didn't taste any spice on it. It was still good and very flavorful. It was really thick so it wasn't like they gave you the leanest cutlet ever. It was a good regular chicken sandwich. It came with fries and the fries didn't seem like they were enough French fries but they were really seasoned and super crispy. Collard greens - collard greens are pretty good and you can see the meat in them and because it was braised in wine sauce, that gave it extra flavor. If you're in this part of the state, you're going to have a lot of wine going around so that's not surprising but they were pretty good. Overall I had a good experience here and this was better than stopping off at an Applebee's for sure because it had good food and a good view.

We received our appetizers and drinks only a few minutes after ordering! The wine here is not incredible but there was a wide variety and we enjoyed the flight we ordered. Our appetizers- the burrata and the crab cakes, were light and delicious. The entrees we ordered (the mushroom chorizo Marsala and the pumpkin risotto) were extremely rich and very decadent, the flavors extremely unique. We were big fans, but if rich isn't your style I recommend going with something a bit lighter. We loved it. Our waitress was so sweet as well-- all the staff was. We will be back!

The facilities is quite small but they have a lil fire pit and some games you can play outside if the weather is good. The ladies on the reception were very friendly. The only couple things I didn't like was that they cabins are too close to each other and there ia no privacy. The bed definitely needs new pillows, as the current ones are very lumpy. Upon arrival, the concierge was very welcoming and made a special point to explain how the hotel has a partnership with Paul Thomas Chocolates in Dahlonega. She gave us a coupon that said (and she very explicitly said) it was good for one free piece of chocolate bark *per person* in the party, so my partner and I were entitled to a total of 2 free pieces of chocolate. When we took the coupon to the chocolate shop, the young man working there refused to honor it. He said he had always been told to give one piece of chocolate only. We asked him to read the coupon again because this was not what it stated, nor was it what the concierge said. He still refused. My boyfriend told him that the partnership needed to fix their coupons if they weren't going to honor them. Anyway, the cabin was clean and cozy, and the bed was very comfortable other than the pillows. Sheets were buttery soft. Overall I was happy with our stay.

Our wedding planning process was riddled with issues that made what should've been an exciting time incredibly frustrating. Midway through planning, our experienced coordinator was abruptly replaced with someone far less familiar with weddings. That led to several mistakes on the day, including my partner and I seeing each other before our scheduled first look. I had to repeatedly correct revised plans with inaccurate meal choices and start times that contradicted our contract. When I brought these issues up, I was met with defensiveness--not solutions. I was told I could use the bridal salon to change, but no one mentioned needing to lock the door. Someone walked in on me, which was deeply upsetting and avoidable. Even worse: our DJ and photographer had to step in to keep things running smoothly--roles they weren't hired for. I later learned other vendors have had tense experiences with this venue's management, which doesn't surprise me now. After posting my original review, the owner responded publicly--not to take accountability, but to deflect blame onto me and our vendors, even accusing others of making "disparaging remarks" out of "fear." Their inability to accept constructive feedback only confirmed what I experienced throughout the process: beautiful venue, but a deeply unprofessional and dismissive approach to communication. I would not recommend this venue to anyone. The setting is lovely, but that means very little when you're met with chaos, deflection, and poor leadership during one of the most important days of your life. P.S. To the owner, if you're considering replying with another dismissive or defensive comment: please don't. My experience is valid, and I'm sharing it so others can make an informed decision. Rather than trying to discredit customers or vendors, I hope future feedback is taken as an opportunity to improve--not deflect.

Within minutes of checking in, the "faux" doorknob fell off. Leaving a hole in our door. My husband went to the hotel to tell them. The guy came straight over. After 1.5 hrs he suggested moving us to a room at the hotel, because he'd have to go to home depot to fix it. We agreed. I looked up the room difference. Rooms for king that night and next ran $119. We moved. And stayed. At checkout they offered me a $39 discount.??? Room difference was $39 a night? They said it was because they were booked and that's the rate? But they were not booked! When I was setting up our wine weekend trip to Dahlonega, a friend said to stay close to the square. After a bit of looking around I pick this place. I decided to go with a Villa, so this review is less about the hotel. And the Villa was great! Just like the pictures, very relaxing porch, cute oft bedroom, and a kitchen that had all we needed. We were at the hotel a couple times though. We popped over for coffee one morning. And on another day we stopped in to do a wine tasting. I don't think the tasting room gets alot of traffic so I was sure to call ahead. We actually ended up getting 2 bottles from there. I did note the good service and a nice hang out porch here too. It was a nice stay and when we make it back we probably will stay here again.
