Admittedly, I am not what you think of when you think "country", but for the past few years I have been on the hunt for red cowboy (girl) boots. Why? Well, because I think they are pretty cool and an all purpose kind of shoe. And red is just snazzy. I had looked online, but I hadn't ever had the chance to look for boots in an actual store. I was super excited when I saw that not only did Cavender's have the boots that I sought, but they were priced well! I didn't buy them yet, but I will probably be back to get them after a little more shopping around. If boots aren't your thing, Cavender's also has a nice selection of "country" inspired clothing and jewelry. A lot of the clothes are overly "stereotypical" of what you think of when you think of Western wear, so don't be afraid to stop in and look around. You might find something that suits you. read more

If you are a fan of either type of music, and want to dress the part, Cavender's is your kind of place. I will admit that I was very surprised when I learned a Cavender's was opening up in Gretna of all places. I realize that around here the Westbank is considered wild territory, but ever since Mudbug's closed, I don't see a huge market for western clothing. I must be wrong because they sunk a ton of money into the store. This store carries a full line of boots, hats, clothing and accessories. On my visit I was looking for a very particular style of boot for work. They were available online, but before I dropped that kind of money, I wanted to try on a pair and view the craftsmanship with my own eyes. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by a salesman. I told him what I wanted plus my size and he led me to that section. They did not have my size, or he style of boot I wanted so I thought that would be it. Boy was I wrong. The salesman, while friendly, suggested I buy a different style of boot in a size that was too large or too small. Not understanding his logic I once again explained that I wanted a specific boot in my size, but he didn't get it. He was extremely friendly, but there is no way I am going to spend that kind of money and not get what I want, or buy the wrong size. When I am looking for a size 13, a 12 or 14 just won't do. There were a good deal of boots on display including reasonably priced pairs all the way to ultra expensive. Maybe I would have had better luck if I had smaller feet, but I refuse to chop off my toes for the sake of fashion. If you want western wear, this is the only game in town. Just be prepared for the hard sell. read more

The store has a large selection of boots and it is very clean/ organized. Scott was an incredible help, he is very knowledgeable about boots and how to care for them. He went above and beyond in helping me with a pair of boots I purchased from another store. read more

I have been to several Cavender's previously in Texas so I was curious if this one would equal my past experiences and I was pleased that it did. They have the best selection of Western items and boots in the area along with some decent prices and good sale items. The staff were friendly and I seemed to be the only person even in the store so I hope they usually get more traffic than during the time I was there. read more

I give them a good rating for large selection but I agree with other reviews that the salesperson intrusiveness is annoying. While quietly browsing and talking with my wife, we were interrupted three times by the same saleswoman yelling halfway across the store, "You finding everything OK?" Every time we said "Doing fine." I find that boorish. I'll stick to the other store in town that is more courteous. read more

I was looking for a belt with a big belt buckle, and the two women that helped me find what I was looking for were very friendly and personable. I was buying the belt for someone else and had no experience with changing out belt buckles, so they showed me how to do that too. Thank you for the outstanding service! read more

Not extremely impressed by this place. First of all, the salesmen outnumber the shoppers 6 to 1 and man, are they hungry. So basically, you've got about 12 people hovering around you at all times just waiting for you to gesture towards something. Secondly, the boot selection was just ok, if i'm gonna spend $800 on some Luchese Boots, I'm probably gonna need some options. Most importantly, I found that most of there t-shirts and belt buckles were adorned with either the state of Texas or the Confederate Flag or both. Now I can see where the state of Texas is kind of iconic in western culture, but since none of the western states joined the confederacy, I can only assume that the rebel flag is present for ONLY the racist connotations. As a southerner, I understand about our past and why some people want to show respect for their history (I guess) but what the fuck this has to do with cowboys, I have no idea. Also, while i'm at it, I like a good pair of boots as much as the next guy and I think pearl-button shirts are the bee's fuckin' knees but for all of you wearing full-on cowboy outfits: that's enough. That's not even a fucking job anymore. It would be like me dressing up as a chimney sweep or a keel-boatman or some such shit. You're wearing a costume. Soon enough rodeos are gonna be on the same level of cultural significance as the renaissance fair. One of these days you're gonna want to "mosey" your ass on into the modern world and when you do, you're gonna have to leave your hateful little t-shirts and over-sized wallets behind. read more

While they have a pretty decent selection if Western wear is your thing, it'll take a lot for me to go back here. I'd rather just shop online. I understand that greeting customers and offering assistance is a good habit for businesses, and I would have been fine with just the basic attention. While me and my bf were in there, however, we were greeted by everyone, stared at the entire time by the guy behind the counter, and followed around by one of the salespeople. I don't know about you, but being watched like a hawk is not my idea of a great shopping experience. I wouldn't go here again unless my bf begged to check it out again, but even he was put off by the microscopic attention as well. Such a shame. read more

I bought a pair of square composite toe work boots in Beaumont Tx store, worn completely out in 9 pos. Ventured into Cavender's Gretna to discus these boots, weren't in stock, no receipt just the sku # & picture torn from original box, the Attendant couldn't believe these particular boots had failed Me then proceeded to have Me fill out return/replacement form. Didn't know Me "A from Adam", took My contact info & let Me know the boots would be replaced within 2 days, to their word, I was contacted My replacement pair of Boots had arrived to come by & pick them Up. This is By far the best experience I've had in Customer Service in a Long Time, needless to say Cavender's Integrity to stand by the product & support a Customer in dire need, won My Confidence as a Lifetime Cavender's Client.
