The venue is absolutely beautiful, and has plenty of room to accommodate a large wedding, but leaving one stars due to customer service..
The couple that owns the venue were so amazing up until the day of the wedding. The day of the wedding they told us they would have everything set up for us the ways we needed it, that was not the case. We finally got ahold of them when they came up to the venue and they gave me (the bride) a gift, it was very kind of her to do, but I would have much rather had them make sure the venue was ready. We let them know nothing was set up, she said okay she would get her husband to unlock everything and do that. Over TWO hours later, her husband showed up to unlock the stuff and left! WE had to set it all up. I am happy we had the help from my family to come help because we were supposed to be getting ready. It ended up making the wedding preparation over an hour behind because of it all. It made everything more hectic then it needed to be. When the wedding started they just stood there watching (not a problem, whatever) but when we got to the reception all I kept hearing was how rude Virginia (the owner) was being to our guest. She and her help were jumping in front of our guest to get food! We told them they could eat, but we asked them to wait until the guest got their food. They took heaping plates to the back to eat it and then came out and glared at our guest for the rest of the evening. We were told by Virginia that we were out of our Champaign around 6:00 pm, we said okay, only to find out later that we had 7 bottles left!! My brother asked her and she said "Well I think you all had enough." Excuse me!? Then we were told an hour before send off that we couldn't do it the way we wanted because someone got burnt (a guest at a different wedding) in the past by sparklers. That's not a them issue that was stuff to do with the guest. That's okay that they don't want sparklers at the venue but they knew that we were doing that for our send off, let us know ahead of time. They called us at 7:00 am the next morning (my husband and I) and asked us to get the rest of our stuff. It was a Monday morning and they did say it wasn't a big deal to rush and could take our time, just as long as we had it takes care of by 5:00 pm Monday. I guess I didn't understand why she called at 7:00 am and asked us to hurry. I was very disappointed. She gave me a cleaning list and told me I needed to sweep the WHOLE venue, and take out all the trash. (They have a cleaning person who takes care of that and it said that in the contract) they asked if we would give them some decorations and I said no because our niece was using them in her wedding in a few months. Then she proceeds to say we stole their stuff. I would not recommend this place do to those reasons. Beautiful place, just a shame that's how they act.. read more
