This is a Deer hunting camp, so it's extremely rustic, both the crew and regulars are extremely knowledgeable! I learned loads during my time here and that 200 yard range really tests you and your gear when you arrive. To make sure you get the best out of this place, makes sure you are confident at 150-200 yards, as you will be rewarded.

This is my second time to Bangs Paradise Valley Hunt Club this year. My first impression was pretty…read moreeye opening inside this big lodge covered in trophy bucks from floor to ceiling all around, a pool and ping pong table, and then dinner seating off to one corner. The accomodations, which runs off the lodge were very comfortable with a true 'just like home" feel. All meals are included and the food they cook is amazing food that is just like your Mama used to cook. I could go on about the food and deserts...yummy. Tom Collins overseas everything...and closely. His management of his many hunt areas is impeccable, from the way he drops people off to their stands, to picking them up, to scent and sound. He is a good man who really cares about his guests, and cares that they have a successful experience while there. Everyone I met on both my trips are those who keep coming back (and it is easy to understand why). This last time I only killed a 4 pt, but I did have the chance to kill a bunch of does. I highly recommend this place with 5 1/2 stars!!

Excellent experience. Physical & exciting, with 3 distinct arenas. Barricades, barrels, poles,…read morechurch, bus and tubes are expertly constructed & placed for attacking, lurking & stalking. Drink plenty of water because you will be on the move. "Flag capture" is my fav -- must use strategy, swiftness & precision to secure the flag & get it safely to base. Referee assigned to your group will take good care of you & make the games challenging. Prepare for pain -- you feel it when the paintball hits you, but subsides quickly. First time you take a headshot is also brain rattling, but helmet absorbs most of impact. I have bruises in some spots ... ask your Referee to tune your shooting device ... aka gun ... to reduce pressure so you won't hurt other players -- we went with 1.5 in final games instead of 2.4 in initial games & it stung much less. Wear your old clothes -- although all paint & dirt washed out of my things. My secret tip: the car door opens, so if you can stand dust & dirt, climb in -- back window is lowered at just the right height to defend the flag ....

This makes it all the more…read moreconfounding that while there were some tours and other events of potential interest, they were not posted on the park's website so I only found out about them on site after it was too late. Exploring the site was difficult due to the robust biting insect population. I found an indoor cabin with some exhibitions about people who died in battle, which is certainly a subject that merits contemplation. Trying to actually walk on the trails proved untenable. To the limited point that I got there wasn't a ton to see. I could imagine that there is more to be done here. It wasn't the hottest day of the year by a long shot, but it still was hot enough to make me wish I'd diverted over during winter.

At 9am on a drizzly Saturday morning, I was the only visitor as I walked around under an umbrella and avoided the wet spots. The site is one of the last stands of the Confederacy against the overwhelming Union Army led by General Sherman during his march to the sea. It is the only state park in the South Carolina system that has a preserved battlefield. The battle took place on February 3, 1865 (the Appomattox surrender in Virginia was two months later, on April 9) with approximately 5,000 Union solders against 1200 Confederate soldiers. 18 Union soldiers were killed alongside 8 Confederates. It is generally considered a Union victory. The park includes a 3/4 mile trail that details the Battle of Rivers Bridge with captioned panels along the walk. Well-preserved earthworks here and there are worth checking out. I did not spot any Park Rangers giving tours but I was able to get the gist of it myself without help. It's quite rural. There are limited facilities - a few picnic shelters and almost no cellular signal. Still, worth a stop for the Civil War buff. [Review 19492 overall - 1064 in South Carolina - 462 of 2023.]
