It was so fun to be part of some history and a clear labor of love on the owners' part. We got to read about how Whistle Stop came to be and it was truly very special to be a part of. The details were impeccable, from the wallpaper and sconces to the antique decor. We loved the two person jacuzzi tub, it let us relax and stay warm on a very chilly night! I especially love that breakfast was delivered and we got to eat it on the original benches in the train car. This was a truly spectacular experience. I highly recommend it! The only piece of feedback I have is that the website should make it much more clear that the train whistles can be heard at all hours of the night. We're pretty deep sleepers and only woke up once, but they are LOUD and honestly, if you're a light sleeper, this is not the place for you. That being said, I looked into reviews ahead of time and knew to prepare for this, but the owners should do this as well.

The owners of Lake Le Homme Dieu B&B have no decent courtesy or respect for their neighbors. During…read morea storm in June 2013 their dock, which is not fully secured down, was blown off its frame and continued down shore. The dock was made up of large, maybe 4x4 ft. pieces reminiscent of pallets. These pieces, after being blown down shore, came to smash upon my father's small fishing boat which was tied to our dock. Our boat had been weathering the storm just fine, as we all were watching it from the window with flashlights, until the dock pieces began to hit it. The dock pieces caused severe damage to my father's boat, as well as tipping it starboard until it started taking in water. It sank. We spent a full day bailing and trying to recover his fishing equipment. We even spent part of that day helping the owners of the B&B recover their dock pieces. In the end, they offered no apology, no help - not even a bilge pump - to my father in return. I even wrote them a letter explaining how their dock ruined our boat, as well as our vacation, and they never responded. For shame. Don't support their business. Also, they have something against dogs.

The host couple is wonderfully hospitable, welcoming, and charming. The house is a beautiful and spotlessly clean farmhouse with everything you could need. There are three guest rooms in the main house and one other couple was staying there when we were. We didn't hear a peep from them other than on the stairs, so there was very nice privacy. The Haven Room has one of the best showers I've had in a long time! Most importantly, the breakfast was over-the-top wonderful. Great conversation and delicious food, graciously accommodating one vegetarian and three meat-eaters! The hosts also gave great recommendations for hanging out in nearby towns, and the drive to several nice restaurants was pleasant and only 10 min away or so. The suite was very reasonably priced for a space that had two sleeping areas and a full kitchen. The view of the lake from the porch was breath-taking! There is a private entrance and the owner let us know before booking that she doesn't serve breakfast. This wasn't a problem at all because of the full kitchen and numerous diners nearby. We enjoyed our stay there so much, I would enthusiastically recommend them to a friend!
