Like the other reviewers, we gave this a shot thanks to a Living Social deal. So glad we did as it was a lovely, magical experience all around. We'll definitely be going back for one of the regular 1/2 day cruises. A friend set this up for triple date night - we brought some champagne and cruised around the Montlake Cut and Portage Bay. Captain Dave was an excellent host who had plenty of great information to share. The boat itself is perfect - a nice blend of indoor/outdoor space so you get to enjoy the elements without any wind. It was a great opportunity to check out all the houseboats and see our town from a different perspective than we usually do. I'd definitely recommend this for a group date night - it's fun to get dressed up and go yachting and pretend you are posh and classy. It would also be a great activity for when you have relatives in town and you want to take them out on the water. Way better than those big tourist boat excursions - being in a small yacht allows you to see everything up close. It was definitely a unique Seattle experience. P.S. Wonderful ride, but be patient & diligent about confirming. Our group had a great outing with Cedar Wave this weekend. We enjoyed the vintage boat, the route around Elliott Bay, and the captain - and the chips & soda were a nice bonus. I suspected while trying to arrange the trip, and later got confirmation, that the Living Social coupons have overwhelmed this small business. They've been inundated with booking requests beyond their usual capability, and they're at the mercy of tides and other criteria that don't lend themselves to quick confirmation. So, patience and a few more phone calls than the usual reservation will pay off. read more

I'm a sucker for a good deal, and I actually used the Living Social deal a couple years back to enlist Captain Dave and his fantastic services for one of the most important days of my life; the day I proposed to my wife. As you can probably well imagine, there were a lot of moving parts behind making sure everything about this day went perfectly, and Captain Dave made sure that every single detail was accounted for. I needed to drop a couple things off (a radio, a couple bottles of wine and champagne, a camera) to make sure that the mood was perfect and that I could surprise my (hopefully) future wife with a dazzling display of thoughtful chivalry. Thankfully, I had Dave working with me to make sure that on such a stressful day, I had someone in my corner. Everything about the day ended up being perfect; I surprised my gal, got her to say yes, and we had one of the best days of our lives doing the Blake Island trip and chatting up Captain Dave. The boat (we were in The Corsair) is absolutely gorgeous and quaint (it's not a modern yacht that just feels like you're in a floating condo, it's rustic and charming and a perfect way to get away from today's touchscreen culture), and Dave was really great; he gave us our space when we obviously wanted it after the question was popped, but was quick to make conversation with us when we had questions. He rehabbed his boat himself, and it's obvious that he takes great pride in the boat and his captain'ing skills. I cannot stress enough that you're in great hands with Captain Dave and he's as reliable and easy to communicate with as they come. We've been married almost a year now, and I'm thrilled to hopefully surprise her soon with another afternoon (or entire day!) cruise with Captain Dave. We purchased our Romance at Sea (Canal Sailing for Two) on Zozi. Our sailing adventure was fantastic. Our Captain took us around the lake and had all sorts of fun details about the boat homes, historical sites on the lake, the marinas...everything! He was a ton of fun to talk to and made us very comfortable! I HIGHLY recommend the adventure! It would also be SUPER fun with a small group of friends and a few bottles of wine...we'll be back!! read more

I took a few friends out on a tour of Lake Union on the Allure. We had such a wonderful time! Captain Dave was booked solid but called with a last-minute cancellation. We arrived late afternoon and were able to take advantage of daylight, sunset and city lights. Dave gave a great tour. We brought wine, cheeses, Dave had the wood burning stove stoked. It was incredibly cozy and charming. Highly recommended... Bring snacks and be ready for a great adventure! read more

Charted the corsair for a birthday celebration. Captain Dave was great to work with in organizing the route and was flexible about pick up and drop off locations! Overall great trip and Dave was perfect to work with- laid back, knowledgable and professional! We booked our cruise through the living social deal and had no problem booking or reserving. Dave was extremely helpful in finding a date in the great weather season to get us out on the water. The cruise itself was beautiful, boat is really cozy and pleasant, perfect for 6 friends going out. Dave gave us lots of details about the area which was really nice to learn about. Dave at Cedar Wave was wonderful in helping me organize a corporate event, a cruise of Lake Washington for some business visitors from outside the country. We had our event yesterday aboard the Gallant Lady, a historic vessel that accommodated our group of approximately 20 people perfectly. Everyone enjoyed a relaxing three hours cruising the lake and enjoying the beautiful views. We received rave reviews from our out-of-town guests. The whole process went off without a hitch. I bought the cruise for 2 off of living social and was able to reserve the boat no problem. We brought our own picnic and enjoyed the charter around the lake with Dave's knowledge of the boats and houseboats. It's a wonderful way to spend an afternoon date or outing with a small group. The same thing happened to me as Hsin-yi W. I bought the living social deal and they said they should have never used them because they lost money. As a customer you don't need to hear that. I had an emergency situation that day and called to reschedule. He said that he would be happy to reschedule, but when I called back he said no because it was cost him too much money. Don't use him, the captain has horrible customer service and was complaining about living social the whole time. I also lost $99. read more

Ahoy! A cruise with Cedar Wave is a must, especially with Captain Dave! Found these folks via Living Social and took friends for a 90 min evening cruise around Lake Union aboard The Allure. Best find yet!! We were charmed from the moment we arrived at the dock. Dave was a delightful guide through the sights and history, quickly endeared himself to all and became a lovely addition to our party. Dave's love of his boat and the Lake was infectious. Sadly, it was a bon voyage party for me but I can definitively state that all my guests will be aboard again soon!! read more

Myself and five good friends took the Lake Union Cruise aboard "The Allure" last Thursday night June 2. It was a lovely evening and Captain Dave made it even better with his superb knowledge of the history of Lake Union, not to mention chocolates and strawberries to snack on. Three of us live in West Seattle, the other two live in Anchorage, but we all learned so much about this wonderful lake. We saw the "Sleepless in Seattle" house up close and many other adorable floating homes. It was a great time - I would highly recommend Cedar Wave. read more
