We took the Harbor Cruise as part of our City Pass package, thinking it would be a good use of time and a fun way to see Seattle from a different perspective. We ended up really enjoying the tour and would highly recommend to visitors. This would especially be a great thing to add to your itinerary if you're only in the city for a short time, as you get to see a lot of landmarks in a short time. You also get to hear about the city's history and key industries. The ride overall is pretty smooth, and my husband, who gets motion sickness, was totally fine. The boat when docked can experience a little more motion, however, so your mileage may vary. We also found it easy to get seats with good views, and the guides were easy to hear anywhere on the boat. We reserved our spots for 4pm via CityPass tickets. People started lining up 20-25 minutes prior to grab the seats at the top of the deck. The check-in and onboarding process was super easy. The ship promptly left dock at designated time. The top deck had open view. The second level had enclosed area with glass window views. Also both ends were open to guests as well. From start to end, the staff member did an amazing job of narrating many aspects of the views from the deck. A lot of it was about the downtown Seattle buildings, Space Needle, buildings and parks by the shore, the sea ports and many other cool facts along the way. I throughly enjoyed the hour long tour. The weather was also fantastic to take stunning pictures of the downtown, the mountains and the port. They also had a bar in second level where they served alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, pop corn and some small snacks. Prices were decent for it being a tourist activity. Fun, family friendly experience! Overall enjoyed the Argosy Cruise. They had a full bar on board and we were able to view the entire city. Only downfall is that is it VERY VERY cold. Be prepared to shiver unless you stay inside the whole time (limited seating). The ship was also a bit outdated. We went when the sun was out and it was supposed to be mid 70's (with layered jackets, beanies and gloves, we were still frozen). The crew was very friendly and informative. Wes Weasel was our guide. Informative. Windy. Difficult to hear at times...the speaker system needs to be improved. The view is affected by where you sit. We were on the left and slightly in the back so we couldn't see the beginning of the tour that was on the right side of the ship. When the ship turned around toward the cargo area, the left side of the ship had a beautiful view of the Seattle skyline. There were snacks and drinks available but the tour was only an hour so it seemed a little over the top salesy towards tourism. It was relaxing but with the poor speaker system and the high cost, I don't think I'd recommend it to my friends. read more

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the one hour cruise around Elliot Bay as it ended up being my favorite attraction. The guide on the ship was very knowledgeable and entertaining. I was engaged the entire time. The weather was beautiful so it was nice to enjoy the breeze in the outdoor space. When it got a bit chilly, we retreated indoors and had a whole level of the ship to ourselves. They have a full service bar and offer small snacks and sandwiches. This is a must do attraction!!! Last about an hour or so and don't worry you shouldn't get sea sick because you are in view of land at all times! You basically go around the harbour and they explain all the buildings around and how things were established. It's incredibly informative. The staff are freakin awesome and the drinks are incredibly tasty I recommend the Bloody Mary it's made with a chili infused vodka actually sooooo delish. If your not up for being cold you can ride inside and still see all the beautiful structures but if you wear a nice warm coat and some gloves I definitely recommend sitting on the top deck to get the best views and don't worry they have a waiter that comes out there to take your drink orders. read more

Staff: The team here was really nice. Everyone from the check in, to the captain, to the team that walks around the boat cleaning up. A nice man named Darton was picking up glasses on the upper deck and happily helped to take a picture of us. Quality: This is a beautiful 3 story boat with a large upper deck. We sat up top for the best view. The boat was new, clean, spacious, and had really clean bathrooms. Value: This was a gift to us from our aunt so you'd have to check the pricing. I will say that we got the upgrade of "first to board" which was so worth it. You get to board first, sit in covered seats before boarding vs standing, and receive a 15% discount on food/snacks. Highly recommend getting this if within your budget. Overall: This was a really cool experience that is well worth doing. We were very lucky with perfect weather. It is also informative as your guide shares fun details of what you see. Pro tip: 1) Park in the structure across the street from the aquarium. It is by far the best pricing I found in downtown. 2) Be sure to sit on the right side of the boat when facing forward or starboard to use proper terminology. You'll get a better view here as the boat goes around the harbor doing a left turn so all landmarks are to your right. You'll still see well from the other side but sharing as I made the mistake of not doing this. read more

I took the locks tour on the recommendation of a friend who used to live out here. "Salmon will jump through the locks..." Unfortunately, I had the mental image of seeing salmon jumping like an Alaskan river. And while at the appropriate timing, I did not see fish jumping out of the water. Nevertheless, this was a really fun tour. We had deck hand Daniel who did the bulk of narrating the tour, and this dude knew so much. His father used to captain for this locks tour. He used maritime terminology appropriately, from dry docks to describing the beam of the vessel vs. the small lock width. He also pointed out Deadliest Fish crabbing vessels to historical and culture points of interest: Sleepless in Seattle floating house, Ray's boat house restaurant, grain terminal, hospital, Capital Hill as the activist central, etc. Captain Martin did a little narration while we went through the lock. The booking experience, especially from City Pass's app, was a little bit complex, and please note if you're departing from Lake Union vs. Pier 54 in Downtown Seattle. Also, if going through City Pass, there's an upgrade charge to do the locks tour (vs. a bay cruise). NOTE: - The company requests no exterior food or drink while on the vessel. They have a small bar/galley where they sell cocktails, beers, wines, very fragrant popcorn... - Would arrive at least a half hour beforehand if departing from Lake Union. - We saw California Sea Lions a few times on this ferry. If you're lucky, you may see an orca (while in the Sound, not on the Lake Union side) and other wildlife. read more

We love being on the water! Earlier in the week, we took the Seattle ferry to Bainbridge Island which was delightful. We probably would have skipped the Argosy Cruise because we did the ferry & we saw the skyline from our Norwegian cruise ship last fall. Thankfully, the Argosy Cruises were one of the options of the CityPASS so we decided to go! We went on the Tuesday afternoon happy hour cruise. It was a little windy & a bit chilly but we braved Mother Nature to imbibe our cocktails on the upper deck. The cruise docent was informative, funny & engaged with the passengers. It was great to hear more about the history of Seattle & see the attractions from the water. It was also cool to see the cargo ships & the shipping containers close up. We got to see Navy ships in dry dock ON THE WATER! We have never seen that before. We also got a peak of a bunch of lazy seals hanging out at the marina. Very fun! read more

Took the Argosy Cruise with the Locks upgrade as part of our City Pass. We opted to also book the return bus back to the peir. The cruise was fun its a 2 hour cruise that starts on pier 54 and takes you out of emerald bay and into the locks which is where the ocean meets the river. The locks is pretty cool I had never seen that before. It was a really cool experience - we saw seals, a light house, the skyline, salmon jumping and a sea plane take off. The deck hand narrated most of the cruise, he was so knowledgeable and gave such a great history on alot of things. I would definitely recommend the locks upgrade. They do offer on board bar, and snacks. Overall this was an excellent experience and I would reccomend it for anyone who is looking into sight seeing. read more

I had the opportunity to complete a boat tour with Argosy Cruises for essentially $25 via the Seattle CityPass. FYI, the Seattle CityPass allows you to visit 5 of Seattle's top attractions for the total cost of $127, which includes this boat tour! The boat was a three story boat which was fairly big and clean. The tour lasted an hour and the tour guy was very knowledgeable about the history and architecture that he discussed. He also provided recommendations of places to visit, which was also very helpful. The Argosy Cruise 1 hour harbour tour was a highlight of my Seattle trip. Our guide, Nick, was informative and entertaining. My tour was during the slower season, so I only lined up about 2-3 minutes before check-in. This put me towards the front of the line, so I had my pick of seats. I would recommend sitting on the right side of the boat for the best views, but there isn't a bad seat in the house. The boat was very clean and well-appointed. There are a lot of restrooms on board. My son and I did the one-hour Harbor tour as an advanced reservation option of our CityPASS on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in May. You will stand in the queue for about 30 minutes before boarding, and no food or drink is allowed onboard. After parking at Pike Place Market and walking over to Pier 54, the two-hour Locks Cruise departed into Elliott Bay. The weather was just right, with no rain. So, we sat on the top deck. It's a great way to take in both sides of Puget Sound, before entering Shilshole Bay, through the Ballard Locks, to Lake Union. Much of the cruise is narrated, providing a live history lesson. It's fascinating how the locks system is used to keep the freshwater lakes above sea level. It's also interesting how the fish ladder is constructed to allow salmon to reach the fresh water for spawning. When the cruise ended, we walked down Westlake Avenue, across Mercer Street, then took the 40 / C Line bus back to Pike Place Market. read more

I had a good time at Argosy Cruises. The sights were beautiful, but the speaker had some difficulty getting his words out. There was a bit of repetition and stuttering when he was trying to explain the history of Seattle, which is a shame since it's such a beautiful city with unique origins. The duration of the tour was perfect to get an understanding of how the land was settled and how each area began developing. This may vary by individual, however. Oh my goodness what didn't go well?!?! My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary so we decided to try this unique experience. It was amazing from the second we stepped on the boat. The interior was beautiful decorated. The ambience felt warm and inviting. We were seated next to a window. The table had fresh flowers and a little card with our names on it. We started with an amazing delicious crème soup with molasses bread and whipped butter. followed by a beautifully done crab cake that was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside . Following that my husband had the filet mignon and lobster with grilled vegetables. I had the baked salmon that melted in my mouth. Following that we had a delicious home made pumpkin cheesecake. And because we were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary they had a small cake set aside for us to cut and share. Wonderful experience. The people taking care of us were so nice and friendly. The were very informative and answered all my questions about the dinner. Just an overall great experience. We will be booking again with them as soon as the season opens.
