Unless someone told you about it...you would never know its there. White Spruce Leash Free is a public park that is open to everyone. It's wide open expanse with segregated areas for the general dog public and the small or timid breeds. Picnic tables, covered benches, blue garbage bins pepper the park. A beautiful white spruce tree is the visual and social focal point of the park. The regulars at this park are friendly and most watch their dogs like they watch their children, unlike some parks in the Brampton area. A great place to unwind with your four legged family member. A five star park for me!!

This park is tucked away a couple streets north of Eglinton and right in between Yonge and Avenue…read more You won't see it from Eglinton but it is just behind a community centre that offers ice hockey and ping pong (I've yet to investigate all the centre has to offer). It's also a 5 minute walk from the Eglinton TTC station if you plan to get there by public transportation. The park itself is a large plot of green space that is regularly maintained by the City of Toronto. There are two open softball diamonds where I have seen league games played. I've even seen the diamonds maintained by the Toronto Blue Jays Community Care Foundation. There's also a regulation soccer field but on some summer weekdays and Saturday mornings, it is converted to about 8-10 mini soccer fields where toddlers between 4-8 years old (my best guess) chase a soccer ball around the field. On down times, it is popular among the dog owners in the area. There is no fenced off-leash area but it is large enough for dogs to run off-leash and play fetch. The latest development is the kiddies play structure. Built over the Fall of 2014 and opened before year's end, the new structure is among the largest I've seen in a public park. There's plenty of apparatuses for the kids to climb, slide down and do. The ground surface is a soft, bouncy synthetic material. It probably saves some kids from crying and saves parents from cleaning up sand in the house. There is also a circular concrete space that doubles as both a labyrinth for people to follow to de-stress and as a wading pool when filled with water. It's been very popular among the children with the hot temperatures we've been having recently. The community centre does offer parking but I don't think they let anyone in until after 10am and similarly, street parking nearby is permit only from midnight until 10am. But like I mentioned earlier, it's a short walk from the Eglinton TTC station and you can even take the 32 bus from the station to get dropped off right in front of the community centre. For me, I like to run laps around the outer edge of the park and there is a hill close to the community centre. Each lap with a run up the hill is 1km so it's a good spot if you're training for a running race and want to track your distance. If I've made the park sound like it has lots to offer, then I've done my job and I do suggest checking it out if you're looking for something to do in the city, especially if you have restless children (or dogs).

There is street parking as well as Green P. Usually on a nice day, the area is very busy so parking is hard to find. A handful of restaurants, food trucks one cafe, Tim Hortons closely around. It's mostly populated by the locals, and if you go frequently enough, you're sure to meet some friends for you and your pup(s). Whether its in the cold of winter, or the heat of summer, this park is well maintained throughout the year and they offer scenic views of Lake Ontario, as well as a massive running trail and open grass area for picnics, runs or whatever else you'd like to do in the urban outdoors. There's a double gated area which I am a huge fan of, which makes this park a 5/5. Alot of parks have a single gate opening, so if your hands are busy with a stroller or secondary item, your dog might run away after opening the first gate. With the double gate, you first enter, get the pup in, then close the door so no one else (including your own dog) can enter, then you open the door to the actual dog park, preventing unwanted escapes. The setup is genius and I wish more parks undertook this simple modification. The area is HUGE leaving you room to play throw with your dog, as well as several picnic tables within the inside.

There are also some picnic tables, and shade trees. The park is covered in wood chips like most of the smaller leash free parks in the city. My dogs were pleasantly surprised by the random squirrels that ran from tree to tree. SQUIRREL!!!! The noise of planes from the airport can be a bit loud but isn't constant. There is a building just south of the park with public washrooms, because sometimes your dog is not the only one who needs to go... My pups say it's not a 5 paws up leash free dog park like Cherry Beach (Disneyland for dogs) but still a decent 4 paws up. We are fans for a quick stop but for play til you drop, Cherry Beach will always be our number one pick.

It is contained by a 1.5 m tall chain link fence with a separate small dog area and a double-gated entry and exit area. I really appreciate the stated rules of using the park: all male dogs have to be neutered, no female dogs in heat and no children under 12 years old! The small dog area is for dogs that are under 12 lbs and it is well maintained. My dog had so much fun exploring the area which are lined with wood pieces and played with dogs that are friendly like he is!! The other area where the bigger dogs roamed is huge.... hilly and they can all run wild and explore!! I wish there are more off leash dog park like this, where dogs can enjoy the open area and socialize with others just like children!

Very impressive off-leash area at St. Andrew's Park for doggies!…read moreIn King West where dogs outnumber human children at about 100 to one, the park at Adelaide and Brant Street, behind the Waterworks building, which is Toronto's oldest park, dogs rule the roost! The best part for dogs is the off-leash area, although most of the rest of the park can be enjoyed by dogs as well, but they need to be on-leash. The fenced off playgrounds with the monkey bars are the places where dogs are not allowed, so children only. The off-leash area covers about a quarter of the park area so is quite spacious giving Rover a large area to run around and do laps if you want, and chase a ball around, although they mainly play with each other. There are two entrances with one facing Adelaide and one facing Maude Street. Unfortunately, or fortunately if you like water-cooler chat, there is only one drinking fountain for the dogs and it needs a person to man the valve on the stand to release fresh water into the bowl below for the dogs. There is a bench right in front of that fountain so if you sit there you could be well trained to get up and water the pooches as they come over, which is fun for a while at least. Great place to first, grab a coffee at Impact or the Waterworks, and then socialize with the other dog people and let your dog run around, which is way more fun than simply taking them on a walk with a leash. Highly recommended in the King West area for a fun activity for both people and dogs alike!

Close to natural and close to home. 2 fenced area: one for the big dogs and other for dogs that are under 20 lb or senior dogs, both covered by wood chips so no one feet/paws would have got muddy. Rocky wants to meet some girl dogs but sadly we came on a really quiet afternoon and only another male dog dropped by. Here all the dogs are well behaved and it is great opportunity for owners to socialize their dogs and get to know other dog owners in the area. A Doggie Meetup? Rocky now really want to go back when there is going to be some action!

My dog is only 7 months old, so he loves running around in the small dog arena. We have encountered other dog owners too and everyone is so friendly, our dog loves coming to this place. The only reason I took off 1 star is because some people don't pick up their dogs' poo. Not sure why they would do that, but this is an almost perfect park :)
