An absolute MUST STOP along I-35 and now my second visit to West, Texas (not West Texas, which is…read morecompletely different). I've been to the other one and now I am here. And while the other one is great and fabulous, this one is one star better. A huge selection of baked goods, coffee, decor, clothing, drinks and more. The Kissing Pig Cafe has so many food options, too! Mrs. K. has not had a kolache in years and she's now pescatarian which presents certain challenges. It would be awesome if they had some kolaches with just cheese or were sweet, so while I had one with ham and cheese and one with sausage in cheese, she was at least able to enjoy a strawberry and cream danish as well as the always awesome poppyseed kolache. It's possible that a pecan square was purchased for later consumption, too. The self-serve coffee was great and we enjoyed all of this inside at a comfortable table. And after that, more shopping. So much great stuff to choose from here and very, very clean restrooms. If you're overwhelmed by that massive baked goods counter, just ask for recommendations. They'll get you sorted for sure! Excellent selection of kolaches and klobasneky. You can also buy sandwiches. Minus: as on previous visits, I have found that they are often out of poppyseed and prune kolaches. Not the servers' fault but you would think management would be keen to bake more of what sells most. Then there are the sandwiches. If you want pork, you'll get value. But if you want brisket, look out! I've never seen a more miserly portion offered for 13 dollars. I understand that brisket is expensive now. But I still get it at various restaurants and have to say that it was a five dollar sandwich for thirteen bucks. Additionally, the sandwich maker apparently does not know what and order for "moist" brisket means. Mine proved rather dry.

I get severe anxiety in big, crowded places. And that's what this was. It was big, crowded, and…read morefull of tchotchkes I didn't want, need or love. I bought a sandwich and some water and got out of there. I will never return. In fairness to them, the place was surprisingly clean, well organized, seemed well managed. The staff seemed nice enough - just working hard to ring up all the people buying their tchotchkes.

I walked in planning to spend maybe 20 minutes max just to buy a few souvenirs, snacks, and a few things to take home to my kids and family. Shortly after I walked in, I was approached and told I wasn't allowed to be there because I came in a semi truck. I explained that I was only going to be inside for a few minutes to buy a few items, but I was told they would not allow me to purchase anything. I was also told, "Unfortunately truckers are not welcome." Those were his exact words. That was extremely disappointing to hear. Truck drivers are a huge part of what keeps this country moving. We deliver the products businesses sell every single day, including the products sitting on Buc-ee's shelves. To be told we're not welcome and not even allowed to make a purchase is sad and frustrating. Because of this experience, I will never return to Buc-ee's again, not even in my personal vehicle. I'd much rather spend my money at a truck stop or any business that welcomes everyone and appreciates the people who help keep America moving.

We've actually stopped here quite a few times over the years, but it wasn't on Yelp at the time…read more This place is convenient as it's the only gas station for quite a few miles so we've used it as a quick stop to get gas and use the restroom multiple times. When returning home from a trip to see family on Sunday 7/19/20 about 9:45am we decided to stop here as we needed to use the restroom and were starving. Although I've never found the restroom particularly clean in the past, it has typically been passable. The cleanliness was a bit more suspect this time and out of the two stalls, one wasn't usable at all- the lock was broken and there wasn't any toilet paper. So that leaves a single handicap stall to be shared. There was soap and paper towels though. When I came out of the restroom my husband told me the chicken restaurant that was inside was supposed to open in 15 minutes. We were debating getting back on the road again with snacks or waiting for it to open. Then he pointed out that none of the customers nor the employee were wearing masks. About this time we heard a crazy hacking cough and decided against eating there, but getting a couple of beverages and getting back on the road. While waiting in line to pay, Ali (who had put on a mask after his coughing fit) told another customer the chicken place didn't open until 10:30am, which is different than the 10am he had previously told my husband- so who knows. I will say that as we were leaving the next 3 people coming in were wearing masks, and it's possible this is an exempt county since there weren't any signs on the doors, but I don't think so. It's a typical gas station with some additional souvenirs, purses, sun dresses, leather products and knives. Between the cleanliness and safety issues, I'm just not inclined to spend more money than necessary (gas and a Gatorade) here.
