    BBQ lunch plate under $20
    Syd G.

This has always been a tradition to stop by in West, when we are traveling by. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The new location across the street is awesome. A one stop shop for gas, restrooms, lunch and sweets.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bbq is a nice touch to add on. Plus, you don't have to wait in the long line if that's all you want. We stopped by around 3 in the afternoon so there wasn't any line. For just at $20 I got a two meat plate with two sides. The brisket was slightly dry but that's to be expected later after lunch time. Good taste though and the sides were really good too! This will be our new lunch stop!

Nutella Kolaches!!! What!?! New favorite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restrooms were clean as always[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and the workers there are always so sweet and efficient.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a cute fun place with lots of nik-naks. Also a lot of Texas college memorabilia.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bathrooms were super clean and attended to.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is great. With all the different kolaches to choose from the staff were really helpful and help moved the long line along.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Slovacek's is very popular. I knew it would be busy for a Saturday lunch time but didn't realize this was the place to be.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Expect to come early and wait in line for the food. The staff was very patient and helpful. I will say the kolaches are delicious so I didn't mind the wait. I got the jalapeño popper, sausage with cheese and jalapeño and turkey & swiss. It's a good size kolache so I should've just order 2. The jalapeño popper was my favorite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is seating available to eat inside but good luck finding a seat if it's busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the Christmas chachkis there. They had a separate building for Christmas decor as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You will definitely will not be bored here lol We will need to come back to stock up on their sausage lol

Shopped-12.21.25: 1st time here on the drive to Waco. They carry a variety of baked loaf sized cakes and a variety of Xmas decor for sale. They carry Xmas decor year round & even have a BBQ'd meat counter where freshly cooked meat is sold. The kolaches are the best I've had so far. Tried the spicy jalapeño, w/sausage & cheese....it was DELICIOUS w/ a nice kick. Friendly staff who were able to get the customers in the long line addressed rather quickly w/ no fuss and friendly faces. Looking forward to returning next time I am in town!

Leaving Texas and Slovacek's was on my list... so we had to stop. I was not prepared for what was inside. Definitely not just food and gas.. large variety of odds and ends. Funny socks to an array of Nutcrackers. Antiques to a full meat market with sausages and game meats. BBQ spot to multiple Kolaches. And everything in between. Everyone there was very friendly. Seemed to enjoy their jobs and you can tell their bakery items and kolaches are made with care. My son got a breakfast burrito even though it was mid afternoon- he said it was one of the best he has had because the sausage tasted homemade. I assume they use to house made sausage. As we were leaving we saw that next door was an entire other store that said Slovacek's Furniture with a large array of outside decorations before entering. We didn't have enough time to really explore but it was worth the stop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Store was clean, they have restrooms and gas so easy place to stop and get everything you need![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My husband and I stopped here for Father's Day around 4pm. We ordered several sausage kolaches and a few raspberry Kolaches. We love the taste but there are differences between this recipe and the one across the freeway. This store has a lot of general merchandise available to purchase, along with kolaches and baked goods. We spent well over an hour shopping the store, the garden, and the separate shop at the end of the property. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They even offer a dog park for your fur babies.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Really makes me wonder why cream cheese isn't used in more savory kolaches. Outside of that one they have a wide selection that has consistently provided hits when I try something new. The bread quality is really good, and they don't skimp on the meats either. I will say their savory quality is a touch higher than the sweet, particularly on the bread, but the sweet are also quite good and have a crazy array of options. I think this spot is super overlooked and is well worth giving a try. I've never run into a line here so if you're tired of waiting at other close by places I'd highly recommend driving the extra block to give this spot a try

Their bakery counter is STUFFED FULL of goodies. I wouldn't do them justice by trying to name everything they have. Cakes, cookies, savory & sweet kolaches, cinnamon rolls the size of your face in at least 20 varieties, & more! It's one of those things you just need to see for yourself! No frills about it. Just good, small & local! I got a the pecan cream cheese cinnamon rolls- 5/5 - just wanted to try it so we split it in 4. So good slightly heated up. Also got ham & cheese kolaches. The bread is best I've had. The ham is not cheap deli sliced ham - it's actual ham ground up. The meat to cheese ratio was a little off for my preference (stuffed full of meat, needed a little more cheese to help cut the salt) but I plan to go back and try more when passing through again. They had some boxes of day old product for discounted price. Go check them out!

I Must say, we were not stirred wrong! Oak Street is just a tiny little bakery. No place to sit. Heck, almost no place to stand and you definitely HAVE TO GO! The Kolache's are absolutely amazing! So light and tasty. And, tons of flavors to choose from! I also got a sausage roll which was incredible as well. Oak street also had other pastry's and pies. If you need advice on what to choose, just ask. The service was warm and friendly. If you're in the area, this is a must stop! Jim

So everything was decided on the phone and email. We had her make 3 cakes; strawberry for the bridal cake, chocolate for the groom's cake and another vanilla cake in order to server 150 guests. There was not one piece left except the top piece saved for the bride and groom. We had that the next day when our family (and the bride and groom) got together for lunch. We've wanted to visit the Magnolia Silos in Waco for a while now and so happy for the chance. The drive to Waco was just under 2 hours from Austin. There is a charming area to the side of the building with several tables covered by umbrellas & surrounded by potted plants. It was too hot to sit outside! The interior is small but nicely decorated.
