Celebrity Cruises - Eclipse
Went on a day tour on Celebrity Eclipse to see how it compared with Royal Caribbean's ships. Celebrity is owned by RC but just the next step up.
First impressions I don' think the ship looks as grand and pretty as some of RC's latest ships (i.e. Anthem and Oasis) but still looked quite grand.
The things I liked especially on the Eclipse when I was running around like challenge Aneka was
- the main dining area I felt it was very spacious, bright, deluxe with its leather seating and airy
- the real grass lawn on top deck where you can listen to live music, see glass blowers, have a picnic or even play croquet, very unique
- the large square deluxe hammocks on board and double lido's that looked a bit like a bed
- the decent size swimming pool area for adults only however lacked character a bit
- window displays of the shops
- free icecream at the buffet area with a choice of toppings
what I did not like or felt lacked
- the staff on board they seemed quite rude, rushed and not very knowledgeable especially waiters
- lack of sports facilities
- small cafe type dining areas
- lack of pools
- lack of kids activities / areas
what I think is very similar to RC
- the food as we had a 4 course meal whilst on board on our tour. I don't feel that the food was as grand.
As for entertainment quiz's I am still unsure of how many quiz's are played during day. Someone told me that there is only 1 quiz on a sea day but then I heard different other stories from other people. Wherefore RC practically has one going on every hour in the evening and some during the day. So I am still unsure for entertainment celebrity offers on board during the day and in evening.
So the question is would I book to go on this award winning CC Eclipse ship possibly not as I did not really feel that there was much difference to honour the higher price that you have to pay for there cruises also because I am still unsure of the entertainment offered and I love to do quiz's when on board. I feel that RC offers a lot more value for money especially when it comes down to entertainment and sport. read more
