What a fabulous photographer Celestina is! I am lucky to have had her photograph me in more than one occasion (yes, I am a true fan and I can't help recommending people to work with her all the time because good things are meant to be shared). She has a natural gift to put her photography subjects at ease so that her portraits capture the good positive essence of the person. I am a notoriously difficult subject to be photographed. Read below and you will understand. Celestina is a miracle worker! As an attorney, I have taken many profile pictures that are showcased at the law firm websites. In many occasions, people would check me out at the website before even speaking with me. A good professional portrait is an important calling card for someone like me. More about the photos... before meeting Celestina, I had resigned to accept that I just did not photograph well. Why? I could never pose the way the photographers asked me to pose (yes I have worked with many, even paying out of my own pocket, with full hair and with makeup painted my face etc.), turn slightly right, no...the other right... lift the left shoulder higher, smile, hold the pose ... wait, turn slightly left again ...no...not that much, turn the other way slightly ...etc. I got very frustrated when I couldn't get the instructions right. I basically told them to feel free to just pose me like a doll and I would try my best (and I still failed time and time again). That frustration showed on my face when the photographs came out. Even after taking multiple (e.g. over 30 pictures later), I got more and more frustrated. All the photos always make me look frustrated, sometimes flustered, and ended up with me looking like Garfield lamenting about hating Mondays or like a dragon lady plotting evil. But that is not really what I am about, and surely I don't want the world to perceive me or have a first impression of me as that by way of seeing my business portrait first before meeting me. So here comes Celestina and she saved my world!!! Now I can proudly say that I don't suck as a photography subject. I can be photographed well! It just takes the right photographer. All the accolades go to Celestina! Oh my goodness, I have never had a better picture taken in my life than the ones taken by Celestina (even my husband and friends all agreed, especially when we do a side-by-side comparison between my official "work" bio portrait vs. my LinkedIn portrait taken by Celestina, that I have control over the posting). She has this natural gift to put people at ease. The poses she had me do are easy to follow and the results are amazing. I don't look flustered or frustrated because she kept the session as a very positive and happy experience. I look happy, wonderful and radiant in her portraits! And of course, without saying, she has a great eye and great techniques. She just makes the pictures come out naturally beautiful. I am very excited that I am doing another session with her soon (now that I have lost a little weight and definitely want to update my picture), and I am making my husband (another attorney) have his own session so he can have an updated professional portrait as well. Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! When Celestina quit her corporate job for her love for photography, my daughter just turned 10 month old. Always skeptical about studio photography myself, I decided to give it a try to have some family photos taken. Upon arrival at her home studio, we immediately fell welcomed and at ease, even my 10mo who's usually shy around strangers started to play with Celestina and Juan. We laughed throughout the entire photo shoot and the moments Celestina captured were priceless! Then I was pregnant again! Celestina did us the honor of photographing us at South Street Seaport on a super windy day. She's so creative in incorporating the beauty of our surroundings while capturing the most lovely moments of our family, the shoot was another home run! During this shoot, I managed to spend more time getting to know Celestina, and it struck me that she's not only an amazing photographer, but also someone who valued integrity, virtue, and tradition. Her dedication in empowering women through photography opened my eyes to see photography from a different prospective, and my respect for her as a photographer and a wonderful woman had grown 10-fold. After the birth of my son, I barely had time for myself. Having 5 minutes for makeup was considered a luxury. When Celestina proposed the idea of doing a makeover shoot on me, my first reaction was 'maybe I could take a nap during the makeup section'. It turned out to be one of the most unforgetable experiences I've had! A professional makeup artist pampered me with a 5-star treatment, and I was in awe the whole time and forgot about the nap. The photoshoot was beyond amazing! Celestina knew exactly how to showcase my 'beauty' and taught me how to pose. Wow what a fun and liberating experience! When Celestina showed me the 'before' and 'after', I was in tears. Maybe I was just hormonal, but I would have never imaged that I could look so beautiful and strong at the same time. My sister and I gifted our mother a Couture Portrait Session for her 50th birthday. It was an absolutely memorable experience for our mom. She not only felt glamorous dressed in gorgeous outfits and make-up but she felt so much at ease getting photographed by Celestina.
