There is a B&B you can stay in here but I think it's more fun in the caravan's. Breakfast is included and it only cost us about £50 for the night!! Bargain, especially when you consider that the Lake District is so stunning!

It's been going some 20 years this year. About 3 or 4 thousand turn up & have a great time. The local community welcome the bikers in pubs & shops without issue, although I'm sure the volume of the music is an issue for some. The site itself is in a nice location with a small but perfectly formed castle nestling in the trees. Open fields surround the caravan/ holiday home areas. The castle has the amenities located within ie bars & food. The site is located in the area of weardale & teesdale, perfect for visiting local attractions & the city of Durham. I would certainly recommend it both for the bike rally & a place to take a vacation.

I had to travel to Penrith from Preston for three consecutive days to attend a course. I have to…read morehighly praise the platform staff for their excellent customer service, especially on Wednesday 9th July. The young lady asked me what my reserved seat number was, told me where to stand and literally the door was right in front of me when the train arrived. All the staff greeted the passengers on arriving on the platform. One man helped an elderly gentleman with his cases and it genuinely was a pleasure to be on the station. It was also very clean and tidy with a lovely display on Platform 2. Other stations take note. You could learn a lot from the staff at Penrith.

Lots of people on the famed English Coast to Coast Walk, a life-long project of Alfred Wainwright, end up staying in this fine Inn as I did a few years ago. I ended my first half of the hike across the country here. How much did I like it? I had only one night reserved but enjoyed it so much I inquired to see if I could stay another vs. heading back to Manchester. It was a good idea, I really enjoyed the extra day, and after hiking over 100 miles in a week my feet were happy to spend a day propped up. The owners couldn't have been nicer, even helped me find a masseuse for the following down day and pointed me to a laundry which people around me probably were happy about after my clothes had spent 6-9 hours a day hiking in the heat and rain. And now, I'm headed back for a second visit in early June, resuming the remainder of the walk. As Wainwright once wrote in his famed book, "the hills will wait." Indeed, they have. Decided to check them out on Yelp again thinking I'd reviewed them. I'd apparently not, so let me say with confidence that this is a wonderful stay with some of the best hospitality I experienced on my hike across England, and comes with one of those marvelous English breakfasts I look forward to sinking my teeth into once more. Quiet, comfy beds, and a wonderful bathtub full of hot water I'll never forget after finishing my longest day of 21 miles arriving here late afternoon. See you in June, Old Croft House. If you come: reserve early, they're busy in the summer. Credit cards accepted. Several nice restaurants and pubs within a few blocks. They can give you directions to the train but be warned, it's a couple of miles, not something a person hiking across the country would mind. Bonus: they're on Instagram and have one of the best collections of C2C pictures I've found.
