The room was clean & tidy, despite a few amrks on the walls (which seem to be a common thing at travelodges). Unfortunately the shower didn't work so had to use just the bath instead. Despite being situated next to the A55 you can't hear the traffic at all over night even with the windows open. Despite the niggling items it's convenient to stay on the way to the ferry port at Holyhead.

Luckily I heard of this place. Situated near Llandberis and down a long windy 5 mph road is this gorgeous farm house. Strangely enough their website is poor..yes we know it's a place to stay..but did you know that anyone can pay £8 to use the sauna and pool? Or even better £19.95 to use the pool, sauna AND enjoy a two course meal after? So we arrived around 11am while the kids were off school and was greeted by the lovely receptionist who id spoken to via the phone previously. After checking in, we were provided towels and directions how to reach the pool. The changing rooms were TINY..one small cubicle, a sink and a fold down baby chance unit..stalk like I had to balance on one leg to undress while trying to remove my knickers..without dropping my clothes on the sodden floor!! Annoyance cast aside we went to the sauna while the pool quietened down . Both sauna and pool were not the largest but did the job. After RE dressing we walked into the restaurant where we were informed it was busy. Graciously a waiter led us to a quiet conservatory where we could eat privately. The menu consisted of veggie risottos, steaks, seafood and other posh pub grub. We all chose the eggs Benedict with smoked haddock for starters, for mains I had the seafood tagliatelle , while my mom and sis chose the fish and chips. The starter arrived promptly, well seasoned cooked and perfect presentation...but we were left for awhile afterwards , no one checked about our situation or our meal.. Mains arrived in good proportion, however mine was very weighed down with mayonnaise like sauce..the girls enjoyed their hand cooked chips and lightly battered fish . Overall for £20 each for a swim, sauna, and two course meal I find this ideal. But why not advertise this on their website?? Also they need to increase their changing room size..and slightly modernise it all.

In general the building seems well maintained, but some of the public areas were being patched and re-painted whilst I was there. My room was spacious and comfortable with free DVD movie rental which is a nice touch. The cooked breakfast was better than most, although 3 staff members were chatting loudly by the entrance which is unacceptable at the level they are trying to pitch, although the rest of the time they were generally very good. Bar snacks are good, but the food and drinks are relatively expensive: expect dinner in the restaurant to cost £30+ per head. Overall though I'd return: especially if I wanted a quiet nice weekend away with a friend. It is a lovely quiet, calm rural location.

Next time then... We took a table in the wonderful saloon. Nice chandeliers, leather couches and seats. Very classy, very comfy. And our Bulldog was even allowed in there. Had a tomato soup, steak sandwich with fries and a jacket potato with beans and cheese. Staff was very friendly. The order took pretty long to arrive, but it was clear the meal was freshly made. So it was fine to wait for it. Jacket potato was very nice. You won't be hungry after. The tomato soup was a bit on the thick and sweet side. The fries were crispy and hot. The meat in the steak sandwich of high quality. Very juicy and tender. Prices for all items very fair. All in all a good lunch. Nice setting, very comfy and relaxed.

I was going to stay at the hotel and I should have done as the rooms have all the facilities and a buffet breakfast as well as being reasonably priced, well in Beaumaris anyway. I did however stop for a drink. The hotel does look dated inside and it seemed busy with lots of staff milling around and guests of all ages included four-legged friends. The young and old seem to separate themselves. Younger folk running in and out of the venue or relaxing in the bar area. The older crowd get the sea views at the back sat in beautiful chesterfield chairs having cream tea or ice cream. Well worth a stay or visit.

Cozy Country Charm…read more We stayed only one night in this wonderful charming hotel. Wish we could have stayed a bit longer. The hotel has been upgraded beautifully by owners James & Amy. James made us a wonderful breakfast and even made it according to our dietary needs. Amy is a delightful host and makes their guests feel right at home. The place is so clean and cozy. I would stay here again. It was a treat on our UK tour.

This place sits on the road, so there is some road noise. Not the greatest if you are a light…read moresleeper. It is called "Lake View" but that is misleading. There is a lake, but you can't see it. It's blocked by trees. It sounds idyllic, but it's not. The proprietors are nice, but I get the sense that this place is not very busy because nothing is upgraded at all. Towels are thin and old. The cold breakfast consists of low quality items. I wish there had been reviews. This is one to avoid.

Dinner menu has something for every one. The Thai green curry was homemade and very tasty. Breakfast - was very nice. Staff super friendly and welcoming. Will be staying again.

The proprietors - a lovely couple - had 1 single room left, but agreed to erect a put-you-up style bed into the room as well, to accomodate me and my mate. The rooms are nicely furnished and en suite, the breakfast is decent quality, and the owners are extremely welcoming and helpful. Also the honesty bar (after hours help yourself and write it in the book) was most welcome when we returned after the wedding reception. Criccieth itself is beautiful - with coastline, peninsular jutting out in the distance, and a ruined castle on a hill dominating the town. I'd stay at Min Y Gaer again on a visit to Criccieth!

Travelodge is just about the same across the board so there's not much I can say…read more This place is clean, decently priced. People at the desk at all hours. Flexible on late check outs. I do have a problem with the wifi. You have to use a new e-mail address in order to log in and use the internet, but that only buys you 20-30 minutes for each e-mail you use. The good thing is that you can make up whatever email you want to to login but still an inconvenience is you are trying to stream movies or conduct business meetings. Rooms are clean and simple. Location is great, right across the street from the Holyhead train station and super close to ferry that goes in and out of Ireland.

We decided to book in to this hotel rather than drive home as we'd had a fantastic couple of days…read moreover in Ireland.The drinks had been flowing and rather than have a quiet crossing back decided the party would continue on the ferry.The hotel was called from Dublin and the people here are great as they said they have people do this from time to time.Good location here not that far from the ferry terminal.The owners even agreed to pick us up from the terminal.The hotel itself is a clean looking establishment with a nice feeling to it as you walk through the door.Nice comfrotable rooms with good linnen and showering facilaties.Had a good full English breakfast the next morning which was wonderful and rienforced the ideal was a good one to stay the night rather than stay off the drink and drive home.Would stay again if we were to do the same again.
