The owner, Michael, is an Irish Immigrant living his American dream. We agreed to a price and date on a handshake. His sons show up to take down a 40-foot Bradford pear tree, that we discovered had been designated an invasive species tree by the Commonwealth of Virginia. They took the tree all the way down, then ground the stump and major roots into mulch. They completed the job by the end of the morning. Very polite. Cleaned up after themselves. Needed to cut 4 trees in my yard. 3 oak trees and 1 gum tree. I wanted to keep the oak for firewood and have the gum hauled away. Michael came out at 7 o'clock one evening and bid the job. He gave a very competitive price from a few other quotes I got so I gave him the job. He arrived when he said he would, he and his guys didn't leave a mark on my grass when they had to get the loader in the back yard to haul away the gum tree. They were in and out before lunch time. After being stood up by two other tree services, I spotted Celtic Tree Care doing a job at a neighbor's house, so I approached them and asked for a business card. Mr O'Brien is very friendly and approachable. He was able to meet with me later that week for a quote on a medium tree, a few small trees, and brush in the backyard. His quote was reasonable, so I accepted. When the crew came out to do the work, they were very professional and gave me exactly what I asked. The best part was their speed and efficiency. I am very pleased with the service that I received from Michael and his team. They arrived at my home around 9 am and got right to work trimming branches from my tree. When they were done removing the tree, they cleaned up my yard and stacked the longer branches/trunk at the edge of the lawn to be picked up at a later date. I also had the stump ground. A team of 3 showed up around 3:30 to start grinding the stump. They made quick work of it and were almost finished when I had to leave a little after 4pm. When I arrived back home later that evening, my yard was cleaned up and there was a pile of mulch where the tree had been. The crew had let me know, before I left that afternoon, that they would be filling in the hole from the stump with the mulch from the grinding. I was extremely impressed with this company. They worked quickly and safely, answered all questions that I had, provided proof of insurance and license, and were pleasant to interact with. The cost was affordable. I've used Celtic Services twice. Once in 2012 to have a 150ft tree removed which had been hit by lightening and was very close to my house. Michael O'Brien gave a very reasonable quote, the tree was removed quickly, and it was a fantastic job. Last week I called Michael again and his company removed 5 very tall Cypress trees and their stumps. Fabulous job. Clean, fast, very fair cost, and efficient.
