It's a dark and cozy bar located in the basement. The drinks are fairly cheap and they have a selection of Polish beer and vodka that you probably won't find many other places in Glasgow. You don't need to be Polish or a member of the club to use the bar. There's a pool table and TVs if you feel like doing more than just chatting with friends, but really, that's what it's best for: having a drink and a chat.

The Armadillo and Ovo are architectural standouts on the Scottish Event Campus, but the main conference was held in the cavernous "train station like" building adjacent to them. This building was large enough to hold two giant exhibition halls on the ground level and many small meeting rooms on level 1. It was also conveniently connected by a covered tunnel to the local train station across the motorway, so local visitors and commuters could stay dry while walking over. Food options were plentiful (venison burgers, pork hot dogs, chicken gyros, etc.) and there were many establishments serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Looking forward to visiting again.

Once upon a time known as The Big Red Shed because it was... well, big and red, it's now a very bland shade of grey these days. Quite fitting, as there are newer, shinier, bigger and better venues not a stone's throw from it's well used doors. That's not to say it's a bad thing. The SECC still sees plenty of action in it's varied halls. You can find comic conventions, stand up comedy, gigs and even the odd bout of wrestling and boxing under the SECC roof at various times. There's plenty of options inside for drink and food, and yeah, you'll find it's a slightly over priced as you'd expect for big corporate venue, but not too much like some places *coughAcademycough* The staff are generally helpful and know what they're doing by now. I was there on Sunday and they managed to funnel 4000 people into Hall 3 in less than half an hour with little problems. The problem with the SECC isn't one of it's own doing... it's been replaced or superseded by it's near neighbours The Hydro and The Armadillo. It's not going anywhere soon, but you get the feeling it maybe needs a bit of an upgrade to stay relevant over the next few years, especially sitting in the Hydro's shadow.

Please never take it away! I can never remember queuing to get in here. I've arrived at gigs early for support bands and just before the main bands come on and have always just walked in to get searched. You don't get that much these days. Maybe some other establishments could take a leaf out of their book? The bar queue is a bit of a nightmare sometimes, but I tend not to drink much at gigs so this doesn't bother me too much. The bar downstairs next to the cloakroom can sometimes be a little more quiet. Queues for the toilets can be long but always go down fast. Don't expect the Ritz here ladies, not much has changed decor-wise in this place and that includes the toilets. Merchandise is on this level too, with an old-skool hot food hatch next to it, The smell of fried onions always makes my mouth water. The Barras can't be beaten for atmosphere, bands and artists agree. Glasgow crowds are the best too, obviously, so it's a match made in heaven.

Who thought that one up? Daft name or no, it is a great community sports facility AND it now has a swimming pool! It has really good facilities and runs excellent exercise programmes, such as boxercise, aerobics and tai kwon do. It also has good football pitches for five a side. It doesnt have a swimming pool, which is a pity and I think it would really benefit from a cafe rather than the vending machines which are all that is available for refreshments.

I was going primarily to see Lou Hickey, but we also caught Fiach Moriarty, who is a charming funny talented young man from Dublin from Dublin. He has had two albums out the first debuted @ 62 in the Album charts, his second 'The Revolution' tackles subjects such as The 1916 Easter Rising, World War 1 and Los San Patricios (the Irish brigade in the 19th century Mexican Army) and debuted in the Irish charts at number 29. Then came Lou Hickey Scottish singer, songwriter, vintage obsessed, gin enthusiast, Ice-hockey and Rugby fan. A sexy mix of quirky jazz & burlesque glamour, Lou's retro pop perfectly reflects her vintage style. I first heard Lou in 2008, in Codiene Velvet club when she collabarated with John Lawlor aka John Fratelli, there debut single, Vanity Kills,Lou often performs @ Club Noir where she sings and DJ's. Lou had also had a solo career from 2006 and Codiene Velevet Club was dibanded in 2010, since then Lou has once again had a solo career, returning last night after having a wee son Lochlan. Last night we were treated to songs from her latest album True Love Ways Minutes Hours Days,Tap Dance and in honour of Halloween Zombie love and many more. Most are metal/rock/industrial so don't see them being graceful. Anyhoo I remember back in the days of Strawberry Fields, where I performed when I was in a band called Freefall. Ah them were the days! Ahhh! Having a memory flashback. :) Well last Friday's performance certainly did grace the stage with plenty of talent at the Scarlett Fever Burlesque Christmas Hullaburloo Show. The stage was beautifully decorated to represent a cosy night in at Christmas with a handmade fireplace and drapes while being entertained by the burlesque dj Lord Holyrude. He had a cracking tartan outfit on by the way. It was a night of seduction and it turned the Ivory Blacks dive bar on it's head. Scarlett Fever had taken over to become a classy evening lounge. Tables were placed out for the audience to sit while been entertained through, dance, comedy, music, singing and with just a little hint of stripteasing. Baron Batholomew Black was a charming compère rounding up a great vibe within the audience. The staff were friendly and very helpful with no bad priced drinks. Although the decor is completely black and to be honest it's not state of the art interior design. It's through the transformation of a little TLC on homemade decor and clever lighting, a different crowd and type of performance the venue worked and became something a little more. A sleazy dive! Lol! Nah I'm only kidding! It just highlighted the better aspects of the venue.

There's a decent sized bar to the back corner, which stocks all your favourites - ok some may be cheap imitations, but you pay for what you get. It doesnt play host to particularly huge bands, but you'll at least be able to catch a few decent names on the bill. I saw Kris Roe of the Ataris here earlier in the year and, for an acoustic gig, it was absolutely fantastic. Rammed, but fantastic.

Above the bar, wrought iron supports hold up an awesome balcony where you get a super view of the main stage. I've been to many gigs in here - it's the perfect intimate venue where there's also enough space to dance (not me obv!). There's always some great Celtic Connections events held here. Great place! Can't wait for my next gig here!

I went here for a jazz concert, and the combination of the musical talent and the atmospheric surroundings was quite amazing. There were round tables scattered across the floor, in a jazz cafe style, which created a lovely ambiance that complemented the musical backdrop. The lighting was low and the walls were decorated with fairy lights, which was a charming touch to this beautiful big building. With its original wooden beams and cobbles, this place reeks of history and is a truly amazing venue for any occasion.

The Museum and Art Galleries is an absolute asset to the Inverclyde area. The museum itself has some seriously amazing exhibits. Everything from Stone Age artifacts to ancient Egyptian relics and a preserved mummy kept in a climate controlled viewing cabinet! The building also plays host to some beautiful British and Scottish art but my favourite section depicts the history of the Clyde from Shipbuilding to the present day. Wondered what all those place looked like that your grandparents talked about? Well you'll get a good feel of them by seeing all the old pictures, the little bits of history people have kept and by reading the stories as you walk around. The also offer classes during the holidays for school children but these are extremely popular! One or two day events they usually revolve around art and gives your kids the chance to be hands on in a number of different art projects! Highly recommended!

It has had a huge face-life and undergone extensive work and now it is a small but beautiful museum with extensive displays of many kinds. There are collections from many cultures across the centuries, industrial, marine and local history, and there is still a fine natural history section too. A nice little shop is found downstairs too where you can buy books on the area, gifts and small toys. There's free internet access as well. Highly recommended.
