Mark matched us perfectly with Adam and Alicia made sure that we knew where we had to be and how to connect with Adam. Adam is a phenomenal guide. He understood that this was a big day for my wife, her first SOCKEYE fishing experience. We found our spot in a few minutes and quickly learned to the fine art of "flossing". 60 minutes later we had bagged out, three beautiful SOCKEYE each. Heading home for a large Fish Smoke with friends and family. If you are targeting TROUT or SOCKEYE, ask for Adam. He knows the environment intimately, was absolutely superb when it came to working with my wife and had her casting like a 40 year veteran in literally, no time at all. I love his coaching style and how super supportive he continued to be, through our whole fishing trip. On top of that, Adam is one of those fun people you would like too just hangout with. Great communicator, very funny, very easy to get along with. His boat is super clean and very well presented. KING SALMON Fishing With Fishology and Chase We were scheduled to to go Halibut fishing. The weather turned and that was the end of that. Mark and Alicia jumped into high gear and got us booked with Chase for a KING SALMON guided experience. We had so many questions and every one went out of their way to set us up for success. Communication is always top notch with this crew. Highly responsive, quick to tackle anything that may come up. Casey is one of the hardest working guides I have ever met. He pushed us into the best fishing holes and worked the ores to capitalize on the best spots, in the best holes. He constantly rowed, tended lines, swapped out fresh bait, coached and taught us all about the Kasiloff river and their residents, the gorgeous KING SALMON. The KINGS are diminishing at an alarming rate and all the guides work very hard to preserve these fine fish for generations to come. We caught 3 nice KINGS and two HUGE SOCKEYES. Whatever we were not allowed keep, Chase made sure went back to the river with as little handling and as much care as possible. It makes me so happy to know that there are people like Chase out there, providing incredible experiences yet working that hard to preserve these experiences for future generations. KING SALMON Fishing is a great adventure and I highly, highly recommend the Chase Guided King Salmon adventure. Simply outstanding. Another flawless event presented by Mark, Alicia and Chase. As an avid fly fisherman, I deeply respected how Aaron handled the fish and was careful to return them to the water unharmed. He explained to us how the fishery is protected and kept us off the spawning beds. This in no way meant any less fun or smaller fish. We have great pictures and wonderful memories of our trout trip, highly recommend Fishology, Mark, Alicia and Aaron.

Nice little place for four people. It was just two this time. Plenty of seasonings and spices. And there was a grill outside! Their dogs were absolutely adorable. Dan and his family (John and Margie) provided the perfect outing for my party of six, which included three kids. Knowledgeable, helpful, and eager to talk about life in Alaska all while reeling in fish after fish after fish. Although we didn't catch any monsters, we limited out quickly and with Dan's live tank were able to pick and choose which halibut to keep. Additionally, we were able to keep any cod for fish and chips. Included with the day's adventure were the filleting and vacuum sealing of our catch. More than reasonable pricing. Dan's knowledge of the waters (i.e., he went right to the spot he wanted - nobody else was there - although by early afternoon we were surrounded by four other boats) enabled us to reel in fish after fish. Plus, his patience with our young kids (ages 6 - 9) was exemplary. I'll be using Thunderod again next year.

Best guides, closest to the best fishing, great support staff!…read more Having lived near the Kenai River for over 30 years and still avidly fish the river, I know these folks are top notch guides. One of the best things about HiLo is their location. They are located on Beaver Hole on the lower river. A lot of the other lodges on the river either are located much further upriver or meet you somewhere on the lower river. With Hi-Lo, you step off their dock and 10 yards aways is one of the very best fishing spots on the lower Kenai River. If you want to catch fish that are blushed or turning red, then fish upstream. If you want to have the first crack at the first fish coming out of the Ocean and into the river silver bright and in mint shape, then you have to fish with Hi-Lo if you don't want to wait at some launch in the dark hoping the guides show up or start an hour earlier in the morning at 5am so the guide has time to run downriver through a hundred boats in the dark. Eat breakfast, step on the boat, and literally one minute later you are fishing in a premium spot. I have my own boat and base out of a launch several docks from them and ALWAYS use their services to help book my friends trip not only for salmon but halibut charters and any other activities. I fish side by side with their boats often and I ALWAYS get out fished. Very knowledgeable folks. When ever we fish late or we catch too many fish (haha, yes it happens!) I can rely on Melissa and their crew to get my fish processed for my guests. Always comes out perfectly Having fished the Kenai river since 1971, there are only several outfits I can personally give my stamp of approval to and Hi-Lo is one of them!
