Great little community event at Island Lake Park. It was super hot out yesterday, but still…read morebearable. Plenty of parking at Deluxe Check or the surrounding lots. Attractions: Smallish carnival- most of the rides are for younger kids which is nice for us. Fun Slide, mini cars, spinning dragons etc. Lake Johannah Fire Station open house with lots of freebies, fire tucks, water hoses, education etc. Nice little open house. Parade Vendors Food Vendors Jump Station for the kids- $5 Some of the prices are ridiculous for things. $7 for a lemonade and $3 for a refill. Good turn out. Nice community event.

My family was given a really super tour of this fire station on a sunny Saturday morning by two…read morewomen firefighters that worked here. The kids got to see all the equipment, climb on the trucks, sit in the driver's seat, the whole deal. Not only that but they showed us the big kitchen, and where they hang out and watch TV. They get to lounge around a lot, but boy do they have to keep that place spiffy and the truck squeaky clean. Do you know how much water one of those pumper trucks holds? I forget, but it's a lot. We got lucky since while we were there they got a call, and we watched the firefighters get on their gear and the trucks head out. But it gets better, because they literally went next door. So we went out on the sidewalk and watched them in action! Who wouldn't want to be a fire fighter?
