I enjoy going here for walks and jogs. I forget how long of a trail it is for walking/ jogging/ bicycling purposes but either way, it is enjoyable. They have BBQ grills and picnic areas, benches, fields for baseball and soccer, a basketball court and some complimentary exercising (gym) equipment for anyone who would like to use it. The park has easy (multiple) access points and although, certain parking areas can get busy during nice weather days, you have other parking options nearby. There are multiple restroom areas in the park. Pets (dogs to be exact) are allowed for a walk. You get pretty views of sunsets from here over the small lake that's there as the area is scenic. I go here occasionally for either exercising or just to get my mind of things as I find this place relaxing and chill. Check this park out if you haven't been here before. It's worth the visit.

Sleepy Hollow Park (still totally not haunted) has been updated into a natural park area with a…read moremowed playfield and some paths, but no longer features any playground equipment or seating. The playfield is suited for most outdoor sports, tends to be well maintained, and drains well. It's along the Skokie River, which flows well most of the year, so isn't a massive mosquito haven (still you might need a light mist of mosquito repellent to keep the few biters at bay). There's a parking lot on Trail Way, and you follow a path to the bridge that crosses into the park. There's also an entrance at North Ave. where there's parking for 2 or 3 vehicles at the trailhead. It's a nice little park surrounded by woods, and is generally pretty quiet. There are no lights, other than on Trail Way, so be sure to leave before sunset.

We've come here a couple times with the kids, especially if they're bored of a lot of shopping. Hill Street Park has an awesome playground with slides, climbing structures and bridges to run across. Besides that, there's a picnic area and a short walking trail that wraps around the place. You can walk it in about 5-10 minutes, so it's not exactly a big hike, but plenty of fun for the short attention span of our kids. There is no field house, but it's a nice place to stop and play if you're in the area with a couple energetic kids. Hill Street Park is a very decent park and preferred by a lot of moms in the area because of the…read morelow traffic flow, play ground, and relative peacefulness. There's ample seating for parents, a small slide, swingset, seesaw, and jumbo playground for larger children. This is a great area for moms of children varying ages. There is a decent walking area for dogs, although they are not allowed on the playground. Also, for eight or nine-year-olds who want to get off of the beaten path, there are things that they can do in the open "woods", such as build forts, because they are burned out and cleaned out regularly. There is a fire pit for fun as well.

Although they recently did some work to the place and cut down a LARGE shade tree that would make the park 90% in the shade....they did plant a new one, so hopefully in years to come, the shading will be back for my grandkids. Great park, with nice play structured. All sand, so bring the sand toys. They have picnic benches through out the park and some very close to the play area. Shaded basketball half courts, tennis courts, and a baseball diamond. I love that there are no "campers" that over run the park during the summer like at chicago park districts. We usually pack a lunch and stay for most of the day. Grassy areas to play it as well. Only downfall is that the only bathrooms are a portapotty- BUT, it is actually decent and is cleaned out every couple days according to the check list in the porta potty. Never really gross or anything...so yeah for that. I took off the star, because like I said earlier, they just cut down some trees and did some work, that made it more exposed to the sun and hotter to play in....but still shaded more than most other parks.

I've taken my youngest here one day on a walk too. This is a neat park situated across from Deerpath subdivision and/or part of it. The park itself has two play areas, one for big kids, one for small kids, and a sandpit in the middle. Both of my kids loved playing in this park on a steamy August late afternoon. The park equipment is well maintained and fun to play with. It's on our list of parks that we can walk to and enjoy around Vernon Hills. If you're in the area, this is a solid, clean, bright park to visit with great equipment for the kids and plenty of shade near walking paths.

It's a straight path, that takes you to route 45. This park makes the walk at deerpath park longer, allowing you to enjoy a much more rigorous exercise. To the left are multiple people's houses' backyard. However, they are all fenced in and multiple shrubs are in place to protect your and the homeowner's privacy.

And I thought "nice! $3 (per child) well spent." Main attractions for my children included a little playhouse (where they probably spent most of their time) and of course a huge ball pit. They technically don't allow kids under 3 in the ball pit but since there weren't many kids around didn't seem to mind my 2 yr old was there. Then again I understand the age requirement because having to recuse him from the balls over and over again proved to be annoying. We travel for play parks. For reals, people! Parks can get boring after a while. The same park over…read moreand over and over again. So when a friend put together a play date here, I cried out "Sign me up!" And boy we were not disappointed. The park actually has several sections to it -- two toddler/infant playgrounds that were gated. (We didn't spend any time here so I can't comment.) It has a baseball field and then the big playground, which is where we spent time. As a mom, I appreciated the picnic benches in the shade as well as clean (yes CLEAN) bathrooms. The playground was impressive. There were a huge merry-go-round with ropes you could climb up as well. It was pretty freaking cool! And you don't see those things that often anymore. Which makes me sad and makes me old all at the same time. But the killer was the slide/fort monstrosity that any kid would go ape over. You just gotta check out the photo for yourself. There are two incredibly long curly cue slides. My kids could have run up and slid down all day. But then the structure is made like a fort with a full deck at the top. And it's covered so no one gets sunburned. Kids banded together and before I knew it, there were about ten boys playing pirates. I felt like I was watching a rendition of Lord of the Flies but thankfully everyone survived. This park is worth a little drive to wear out the kids!
