It's also located behind the Glenview Public Library, and across the street also from Joe's Donuts and the Glenview Metra station. Today we enjoyed the park by watching a free and delightful 1 hour concert by the park's gazebo and performed by an eclectic Indian/Carribean group named Funkadesi. A plaque I saw said it's Glenview's oldest public park. The people we have encountered here are also all clean, courteous, and well behaved and the place epitomizes Glenview as the great community that it is.

I only experienced the use of their well maintained, well equipped, and lighted youth softball fields on my first visit here and there are 4 of those, but there is much more here. There are batting cages, a snow sledding hill, a 9 hole golf course, a 22000 ft2 skate park, soccer/lacrosse fields, walking trails, and an activity center building which includes a fitness center and basketball courts among other things. There are also well spaced and adequate parking lots for all of these facilities. Impressive public sports and fitness venue and a big thumbs up!

Northbrook is…read morehaving a plein air photography festival open to the public (even the non-Northbrook-resident public) so we made our way up here to take photos fitting the challenge, one of which is to take a photo here. This park is really quite extensive. They have a workout facility which had fewer folks there than I expected for a Sunday afternoon. The parking lot of the park is very large as well, which is good to support all the activities. They have multiple ballpark fields (three, I believe), as well as batting cages and a soccer field. There's a skate park, and I was surprised to see the breadth of folks who use it--there were some younger folks here but I also saw someone in his 50s or 60s skateboarding. They have a playground. There's a picnic-type shelter for people to have gatherings, complete with a fire pit. And there's a golf course! I don't know anything about golf but it certainly looked large. I think the golf course is free, as may be the other activities (unsure about the batting cages). There are also walking trails, and you can fish here but you must release what you catch. And near one of the ballparks, there was a tall hill... perhaps tobogganing in the winter? Really nice, well-kept park for all to enjoy. Glad to have learned about it and hope to return.

The park is surrounded by residential streets and except for a small parking lot near the swimming pool, it's all otherwise street parking for visitors, so it can get crowded if you're not a slight bit early for an event. For a little background information, this skate park is one of few poured concrete skate facilities in the state that are open to the public. The Vernon Hills skatepark is another one I've been to. This park is 11,000SF with one bowl, a vert quarter pipe, ledges, and rails. There's a hangout area that *had* benches, but the benches were most likely taken away to help avoid gathering and encourage social distancing. There are currently no benches or designated places to sit. There is no shade, so wear your sunscreen! In case you didn't already know from my other skate park reviews, I'm a mom of two boys who take their scooter riding very seriously. I've been to my fair share of skate parks, and Jewett has now been added to our rotation. However, the boys don't go here as much as I had hoped, because it gets pretty crowded.

A well needed breath of fresh air for me the morning I conducted my run at Laramie Park. A run…read moreroute that took me out-and-back, through this neighborhood towards downtown Skokie, and back! Once I realized my route along Niles Center Rd was taking me into downtown Skokie, I thought to myself, yes! Laramie Park has a rectangular shape, looking at it from a satellite view. And it literally sits right off of Niles Center Rd in a highly trafficked area nearby a plethora of restaurants and businesses, where Skokie meets Niles! Along with there being neighborhood parking, there are also well-enough parking spots available being that there are two parking lots. I noted a number of outdoor activities you can partake in at this park, like tennis, a playground for children to enjoy, exercising on its exercise equipment, ping-pong, cornhole, basketball, and even baseball which this park does have two baseball diamonds within it. And post completion of my out-and-back run, I did a little yoga followed by a walk along its walk path where I saw even more of its other features within. Not only are there benches throughout its walk path, but there are also sheltered spots in order to stay shaded and avoid exposure to an excessive amount of sunlight. The park is right in the heart of downtown Northbrook, with an award-winning baseball diamond, seasonal soccer field, picnic areas, playground, paths, an old-fashioned gazebo and lush greenery.  The park is surrounded by a variety of eateries and restaurants, making it very convenient to dine in or get takeout to enjoy at one of the picnic tables. The Village Green Park holds an important place in my heart, as our daughter used to play here every day when we lived within walking distance. My husband used to bring her here to play every evening while I was cooking dinner. When she was a bit older, they would ride their bikes or rollerblade to the park, get ice cream at Baskin-Robbins, and then come home. It is a special park that was part of her growing up. Northbrook Days used to be held in Village Green, until the village decided that it was too damaging to the grassy area.  Fortunately, Art in the Park of Northbrook still happens here annually, making it our favorite activity to come to browse at the art and look at the dogs. Thank you, Northbrook Park District, for taking such good care of all 23 parks. We are happy to see our tax dollars being put to good use and to have such wonderful parks for our community to enjoy.

They had an eclectic collection of…read morevendors -- vintage clothing and accessories, foodstuffs, jewelry, art, plants, pet products, health and beauty items. It was a really nice assortment, the booths lined the paths, there were four or five long aisles. This is the only weekend for this location -- other markets in Chicago, Oakbrook and Naperville.
