I was told that they receive hundreds of referrals a day and it would take at least two weeks to process my referral. Then ultimately the appointment might be in about 4 months. So if you did actually have lupus or something that causes damage, the damage would be done by the time you got an appointment. They need to manage this better so that new patients can be seen within a couple of weeks. read more

my doctor gave me a referral to The Center for Rheumatology on August 29th. I waited a few days for them to receive the referral. I called the number listed. I got a recording saying they would call me back in 24-48 hours. they did not. I called again, left a message, again. I was called back and told it would take a week to 10 days to get my "paperwork" together. I never heard back from them despite calling and leaving message 2 more times. it's now October 10th. if this guy was a cardiologist, I'd more than likely be dead by now. this is the worse run operation I have ever dealt with. How does the business make any money to pay their employees? although based on what I have experienced, no matter what they are paid, it's too much! read more

I've been going to the Center 4 Rheum for decades. When I started going there, there were many doctors and the care was amazing. Today, there are barely any doctors working there and the quality of care is poor. Even in the little office where they do blood work there aren't enough phlebotomists. This practice has deteriorated and I wish i could find another rheumatologists office in the Albany area, but they are few and far between. read more

I so wish I could give no stars. I had bad ana and anca labs so I was referred here. I knew I had some kind of autoimmune illness. I had to wait a year for an appt, getting more sick. Finally I saw some sort of nurse who did nothing but bloodwork and never told me anything about it. I have never had a glimpse of an actual doctor. The second time I came in for a so-called fu, just a reason for them to get money, all that nurse did was to have me hold my arms out straight. That was all. She said she didn't know if I was ill but told me to make another appt. I said never. I finally got another md who dx'ed vasculitis and another wonderful md who dx'ed lupus and nsip. Now I have meds that help a great deal. I also have a great rheumatologist...Dr. Chapman. Go to her, not ever Albany. read more

The medical records are sloppy and inaccurate. When I tried to have my medical records corrected, the "manager" told me the doctor would not do that and told me I had to have an in person office visit if I even wanted to discuss the matter. Apparently I received smoking cessation education at my last office visit, but I don't even smoke!! I have been a patient for over 10 years, but sadly I will NOT be going back. read more

If you look at my profile, you'll notice that I never leave bad reviews, so this is a first. Poor service at a restaurant, a dry cleaner that ruined a few shirts--I look the other way. Unfortunately, the Center for Rheumatology has it coming. I called them two days ago after my chronic back pain became unbearable and my primary doctor told me to consult a Rheumatologist immediately. I called the Center to schedule an appointment and got their answering machine. A few hours later, they returned my call and said the next available appointment would be in late February or March. I explained how bad pressing my situation is and asked if they had anything sooner, maybe within a month. The representative responded, "no, we don't, good luck." While I didn't even make it in the door, this practice clearly couldn't care less about helping people. You should steer clear as I did. read more

This Center for Rheumatology in the past has been a welcome relief from my Sjogren's syndrome, giant-cell arteritis, polymyalgia rheumatica. But lately they are utterly impossible to contact. It has taken me days to have anybody respond. When contacted by a PA, they will check on a dosage problem and get right back. "Right back" is a new term for "days." They desperately need to hire more staff and to have a proficient phone company rebuild their phone system. read more

This practice is horrible. They are rude, and beyond unprofessional. I was not allowed to go in for my appointment when the incompetent receptionist had no clue what she was doing. I have insurance, my newest card wasn't issued. I had the last insurance card on me, of course. All she had to do was put in my social security number. Which she did not. We had an insurance rep on phone they would not accept a fax. The other patients felt sorry for me witnessing this. We were all in shock how poorly I was being treated by these jerks. The useless manager would only repeat it was their policy when you don't have insurance. The worst is she knew I had insurance. She did not care. I should not have been treated like I was Monday. I love this practice. I am always seen timely, no long waits in the waiting room. They do their own bloodwork in the office, which is so convenient. The office is in a good location with tons of parking. Dr. Hausner is the best doctor I have met to treat my RA/Lupus/Sjogrens diagnoses. She cares, is patient, always takes time to explain, and allows you to help choose your treatment. read more

I had been with the Center for Rheumatology since its conception. I started with Dr. Kremmer, who was an amazing doctor. I was his patient for 20 years. When he retired I saw Jessica Chapman, she also was an amazing doctor. She left the practice. I then saw Mari Kaymakcian, nurse practioner, she was an amazing NP. All of the above were professional, informative and kind. She wisely left this practice. Then I saw Shannon Case. She was not professional, she wasn't even pleasant. I have painful arthritis in both my knees and had nothing to offer at all to help with my knees. Then there was a billing issue, every time I visited this center I would ask if I had any current copays that need to be paid. I was always told no.I had also cancelled a couple of appointments due to covid and finding a doctor that would help me with my knees. Without warning Courtney form the front desk left a message that I was being discharged from the practice due to cancelling 2 appointments and having a outstanding balance. I immediately called Courtney to resolve this issue. She berated me for having a balance and having cancelled 2 appointments I was astonished by her treatment of me. I quickly paid my balance and she decided that I could stay at the practice. She was allowing me to stay at the practice. I have chosen to leave this practice, a practice I had been with since it opened, due to the horrific way I was treated. After I had mentioned what happened to me to several friends who also had bad experiences and are now leaving as well. I hope this helps someone who is considering this practice. read more

I have a problem after exiting the elevator seeing a sign that says "Stand against the wall", so militaresque. Weird thing is after being seen you start over again. No designated discharge planners. One receptionist delightful/helpful; another not so much. My PA is excellent. Their portal seems to have no management. No difficulty setting up an account but no medical reports are present, only appts and meds. Even though I notified admitting person I was no longer taking a med, it is still there. read more

I'm a breast cancer patient who has been suffering from RA/bone stiffness/chronic joint pain after chemo/radiation and AI treatment. I was referred to this office by my oncologist and waited almost 5 1/2 months for an appointment. Today I received a call that they need to reschedule for NOVEMBER (4 more months). I'm in tears, I'm in so much pain snd received zero compassion from the gal on the phone. Had I known they would be cancelling my appointment I would've found another facility to be seen by. I'm so sad and mad they wasted my time. I wish I could leave zero stars. read more

I loved this practice and am so unhappy that I had to move and leave this place! Dr. Abraham is a great doctor who's always on top of things. Their new office is beautiful (and huge!) and the staff are so friendly. I spent a lot of time in the infusion room and the nurses are fantastic. From the start, not being able to get in until next year, (with the exception of cancellations) to the way Dr. Cavaliere talked over the top of me, and basically told me that my Primary care and Eye doctors were inferior, literally said to me (when I explained my son suffers for similar issues) "well you must be educated then" to now over two weeks later still waiting on test results and leaving more then 10 messages for him or a nurse to call me back to go over what my next step is... It's outrageous. To say I'm furious is an understatement. If someone other than an underpaid receptionist (who is the only nice thing about this place) I would complain to them directly. For the record, I've been working with Rhuematologists for over 10 years since my son's diagnosis. The Center for Rhuematology is an absolute joke. read more

I have been working with Rhonda Murphy for a few years now. I have RA and it hasn't been an easy road. I can say so many good things about Rhonda. She will try her best to get you in that same day, explain what is going on, take blood work to check my levels and much much more! Although eventually I might need a left knee replacement and not looking forward to that, I will always praise her for her kindness and understanding every time I go in to get my Remicaid treatments, knees drained or whatever I am in there for. There have been times when I just can't take one more knee drained, medication or Remicaid infusion and I am mentally and physically exhausted over these symptoms but she is always there to give me hope and I know it could be worse if she wasn't treating me. Things have gotten better its just my 1 left knee now that keeps filling up with fluid. All of my joints are better. I have been a patient at the Center for several years and have never had a bad experience with Dr. Toledo until now. Her bedside manner is unacceptable as is her professionalism in noting that she took my calls while I'm vacation, worked the whooole time on vacation day and night. Perhaps it's her new senior leadership responsibilities although no excuse and all the more reason for appropriate interaction with patients. I plan to send a letter to my insurance carrier although I am not sure if it will be read given that I suspect a close family member is a Medical Director there. I was beyond shocked and disappointed at how she talked to me which began from the moment she walked in the exam room and was visibly annoyed that she had to squeeze me into her schedule. No one in chronic pain of any sort should be treated like this. "Why are you here and not at a _______..." I'm in pain. What ended up being a 45 minute appointment much to both of our dismay could have been 10-15 minutes if her attitude upon entering the room was different. read more

I would give this place less then one star if possible. Please don't go here for your sake. Let me preface that I am a licensed veterinary technician so I've worked in a medical office for a third of my life. First the wait was forever, like 12 months to be seen by the Dr. I wanted. I ended up seeing Dr. Neil Greenstein due to a cancellation of another patient. He is a huge disappointment. Doesn't take time to properly examine or talk to his patients. I felt rushed talked over and then was put on medication without any explanation or warnings of side effects. WTF! I try to call him to discuss medications and symptoms multiple times and can't get him on the phone. Almost develop a stomach ulcer due to a medication. He finally calls me back after this and switches me to another medication. I start taking pepcid to help protect my stomach, not on his advice but the pharmacist. She listened to the troubles with my medication that my Dr. didn't have the time for. I then call to transfer records since I feel as though I'm not jiving well with this Dr. I keep getting transferred to the "medical record department" to request my records be sent to other offices. Multiple times I get disconnected immediately when transferred to this line. I attempted 4-5 times on different days at different times thinking maybe it was a certain receptionist error or due to high call volume. I finally say something before they attempt to transfer me again. They apologize half heartedly and say to call back and tell them if it happens again. This time I transfer to a machine where I leave a detailed message about where to send records and my phone number. I contact the hospital im trying to switch to a week after I requested records be sent to them. Nothing! And since they are a specialty hospital they won't make an appointment with me until they receive records. They finally receive records from my primary care and said that there's enough there to set up an appointment but to contact the center of rheumatology as they still hadn't received records from them. I called again complaining and was told the receptionist aren't trained to handle records and I have to go through that department. Again transferred again left a message again nothing was sent. I did this two more times then called back infuriated and complained to the front desk. I was again transferred to the record department and left a demanding message to be contacted. Was contacted much later (at 6 pm at night) by an unapologetic women that just asked where I want things sent. I told her it should be in previous messages. She said she doesn't have that information anymore. I have multiple hospitals and specialist I needed my records sent to at this point. I had two saved but couldn't find the others quickly. Then she tells me she'll send me my records so I can handle sending them to other offices in the future myself. That's her job and it's not hard..... Again WTF!!! So rude, disorganized, and horrible bedside manner at this place. Not to mention its illegal to deny patients their medical records when requested. I ended up having an even longer wait to get into another specialist, which is already a lengthy process. It also delayed my overall comfort and diagnosis. Absolutely horrendous read more

Excellent place. Dr. Cavaliere is wonderful. He's always on time, takes time to examine talk w/ you. The office staff are wonderful too.
