I trended the first group training session which consisted of exercises of slamming a door on your dog's head to keep them from trying to run through as well as using your knee to keep your dog from jumping up on you when they see you. During the session as we were waiting for an opportunity to practice slamming our dog's head in a door, the owner Amy Ammon singled me out (from pop a line of 15 people), approached me and in one of the most condescending interactions I've ever had with another human being berated me and said, "no one is going to do this for you." Yes, Amy. I'm fat and when I take my dog for a walk (or training), I generally don't wear a business suit or even Lulu Lemon athleisure. I'm sorry if my comportment is detestable for you. But you clearly need professional psychological help and have exactly zero business running an animal training facility. Needless to say I did not return for any addition sessions. When I asked for a refund they refused to give me even a prorated refund citing that I was clearly an unfit pet owner. Please for the sake of humanity, the universe, and your pet's, NEVER patronize this establishment.

I last trained this past summer and continue to use email and text for advice and guidance. Amy will help you get the best success from your dog according to their demeanor, behaviors and training needs. Treats can be used however, it's the trainer's choice and not necessary. What I love is that the dogs are trained with positive praise and reinforcement rather than treats if desired. They learn to respond to your voice and reward of attention rather than being tied to a bag of treats. Corrective collars are used when recommended but not required and not cruel or used for punishment. They are just that. Corrective, a reminder and help with communication. Amy explains and instructs on behaviors and rationale behind the dogs behavior which help you understand your dogs motives and needs more. She really spends individual time with real time feedback to clients. During each class, you will be working with your dog along side others the entire time with short instructions/demonstrations from Amy which means you get more real time working with your pup rather than listening to lengthy instructions and little time to work. I've really enjoyed the classes and have had great results. We tend to take hour dogs with us on many occasions, out to dinner, camping, parks, events and hotels and get much attention from others on how well behaved and comfortable the dogs are in their environment. Kids and adults alike may approach them as well as other dogs, even crabby ones on occasion and they are nonreactive and friendly. I will continue to train every year to keep the dogs engaged! I highly recommend amiable dog training to beginners and advanced as well. I also recommend for a consult for specific behaviors and wellness. Thank you Amiable Dog training for all you do!

On 8/21/25, I brought my 10 1/2-year-old Lab/Boxer, Kammi, to Village Veterinary Care of Merton…read morebecause her abdomen was distended and she would no longer jump into or out of the car. Dr. Robert Patyk examined her and stated her liver felt enlarged and he suspected spleen cancer. In her chart, he documented, "Internal problems likely. Neoplasia?" But after reviewing her abdominal X-ray, he said it showed "no tumors". I later learned an X-ray cannot reliably rule out tumors and ultrasound is used to identify and characterize masses. No ultrasound was recommended or performed. Kammi's labs showed a markedly elevated liver enzyme--ALKP 769 (normal 23-212)--and a very low thyroid value--TT4 less than 0.5 (normal 1.0-4.0). He diagnosed Kammi with hypothyroidism and started her on levothyroxine. (I later learned a low TT4 alone cannot confirm hypothyroidism, since other illnesses can also cause a low result. Free T4 and TSH testing can help distinguish true hypothyroidism but neither was performed.) Four days after Dr. Patyk started Kammi on levothyroxine, she began vomiting repeatedly. Her labs showed a higher than therapeutic TT4 and her levothyroxine dose was reduced by 50%. Although the vomiting improved, Kammi never returned to her normal self. Twice over the next two months, (on 9/30 and 10/20), Kammi's abdomen became more distended and she would no longer jump in or out of the car. Each time, I brought her back to the clinic for bloodwork, thinking her medication dose needed adjustment. Both times, Frank Mahler (whom I later learned was the clinic owner) drew Kammi's blood. At her 10/20 appt., I told Frank that Kammi had lost weight yet her abdomen remained enlarged; he told me that "dogs can carry weight in their bellies just as people do". On that day, he drew an additional tube of blood "in case the veterinarian wanted further testing" and told me someone would call me the following day. No one called, so I assumed no additional testing was needed. When Kammi failed to improve and became noticeably thinner, I asked that she instead, be evaluated by Dr. Michael Aspan. An abdominal ultrasound was finally performed and revealed multiple masses and nodules in her spleen and liver. Less than 48 hours later, Kammi's abdomen was severely distended, she struggled to lie down and stand, and was breathing loudly and groaning in her sleep. It was evident she was suffering. Dr. Kathleen Blessing of Gentle Blessings (an independent in-home euthanasia veterinarian not affiliated with Village Veterinary Care) came to my home to help Kammi pass peacefully. Dr. Blessing said one of Kammi's masses was likely bleeding into her abdomen. She explained the body can often reabsorb smaller amounts of blood (which I believe explains why Kammi's abdominal swelling and refusal to jump had come and gone). Dr. Blessing said larger amounts of blood may not be reabsorbed and can cause severe pain and difficulty breathing. Kammi was experiencing both, and I had no choice but to let her go. After losing Kammi, I carefully reviewed her medical records and wrote a detailed letter to Frank Mahler. I hoped Kammi's case would at least be acknowledged as a missed opportunity to recognize serious disease sooner and improve care for future patients. Instead, I received a written response stating her care met accepted standards and nothing had been done wrong. That response is why I am writing this review. I cannot say whether an earlier diagnosis would have changed Kammi's outcome. However, knowing about the masses--months, rather than days before Kammi's death--would have allowed us to make informed decisions, focus on her comfort, and spare her suffering. I believe Kammi's case involved repeated missed opportunities to investigate the possibility of cancer that Dr. Patyk himself had initially suspected. If your pet continues to decline despite treatment, ask questions and do not be afraid to seek a second opinion. I will forever regret that I did not do so sooner, and I hope sharing Kammi's story can help protect other beloved pets.

The owner has always been rough around the edges but today took the cake. Due to an error with scheduling on his part our two dogs were 20 minutes late for their scheduled appointment. When my wife asked if he could still take our senior dog (15+ yrs old) since he was already sedated, he swore, said he didn't have time, then walked out of the shop towards his car. We had two dogs scheduled to be groomed but he claimed he didn't have time to take one of them when we were only 20 minutes late? He handled this situation extremely unprofessionally, didn't offer to reschedule, then he walked away while swearing under his breath. I will not return with my current or any future pets.

Even looked into personal family to rescue him. A year later, I moved in with my boyfriend and we each had two cats..totaling 4. One of my cats had a bowel blockage and I had taken him to VEG 2-3 times, and they did not look into long term solutions or care. When I came here, they wanted to find the why, fix the current situation and look long term. From Dr. Ben to every nurse and front desk person I came into contact with, they were beyond compassionate and helpful. They even check in a few days after to ensure everyone's doing ok and if we need anything. My boyfriends cat had a history with bladder blockages and we were seeing symptoms of something going on again they did a thorough check up and both visits even sent us home with food as a sample. I've had some really bad vet experiences in this area and all I have to say is they are AMAZING. Highly recommended.

I took advantage of Scenthound's introductory special today. It was $39 for a bath, nail trim, ear…read morecleaning and tooth brushing compared to the $22 I usually pay just for nails. I found the service to be quick, friendly and professional. He looks and smells great. My dog can be a handful at nail trims, but I didn't hear any of his usual commotion coming from the store's back room. His nails were the shortest I've ever seen them unless they were accidentally cut to the quick. He emerged from the back room looking fairly happy, which is not usual for him. I hate having nails done. I woud highly recommend Scenthound just on the basis of the great nail trim alone. Everything else was the icing on the cake. I'll be using them regularly from now on.
