There is a lot to see between the river, trees, birds, and other trail visitors. Super easy to park around the businesses near the Pumphouse and then set off. As we were coming back, there were people putting kayaks into the water, also some folks in the water doing some fishing. Overall a great option for getting out into nature. Everything is paved and there some some well maintained wooden bridges to cross. Wide enough for two way traffic and benches a lot the way for breaks.

Tournament was delayed by two hours due to rain. When we arrived the fields looked great and there was ample space to set up your own seating. A few trips were made to the bathroom by my group and no complaints. At one point, one person when to the concession stand to see what was on the menu as we were starting to get hungry. Come to find out that even though teams were still playing, the concession stand had closed. Most places would make an adjustment to their schedule for delayed tournaments to ensure they stayed open during the last games. This may be an external group that runs them, and I get it, it's just tough to corral hungry children and convince them they'll be fine for awhile longer.

People seem to be completely ignoring the signs because the park was incredibly crowded and no one was social distancing. Luckily, we were able to find a secluded picnic table to sit at and eat our lunch. It seemed like a nice park and I would have loved to stay and walk around on some of the trails, but I wasn't comfortable doing that considering how crowded it is. I'd recommend trying to find a less popular park than this one if you're just trying to spend some time outside.

We did 7 miles on and thru the trails along the river. We started at the river park entrance off the industrial highway (I'm not good with directions) and ended at the River Walk by the Pump House before turning around. It was a great workout with some hills but the views were the Star. Old bridges, big metal bridges, swings on the river banks and wooden trails thru the woods' this place is a gem. The hike would likely land on the "easy" end of the scale and it's very pleasant to walk through the woods. The sign indicates that the park closed November 4 and is estimated to be complete in late Spring 2020. Users of the Piedmont Medical Center Trail at 100 Celriver Road can still access the trail. This is a nice park for smalls to bigs. I especially like…read morethe soft spongy turf surface. It's gated and there is only one way in or out. Your kids will have to work hard to skin their knees and elbows here. I also like the swing where the bigs can swing with the little's at the same time. There are two sets of bathrooms that are really clean. They have a covered picnic area to keep you out of the sun or dry if it rains. There are also 2 balls fields.

There are no public events or games here today but the park is ready for you if you need to get some sunshine. Eight large soccer fields, all of them lighted. A structure with concessions and restrooms and a meeting room. Large playground to keep the other little ones occupied. My favorite part? The 1.1 mile loop around the outer edge of the park.
