Thanks to the craftsmanship of Johnny and Lawson at DUCS we have a beautiful new kitchen. They removed a wall, built a pantry, installed cabinets and flooring, painting and drywall replacement, installed lighting and appliances. Johnny is a skilled craftsman, the custom woodwork he did is beautiful and just what I asked for. They were a pleasure to have in our home during construction and left the space immaculate each day. We did not hesitate to hire DUCS for our garage conversion. Once again we had the pleasure of Johnny as our carpenter, and consistently excellent subcontractors. Our ugly garage became four beautiful new rooms, again finished on time. The owner Joey was very responsive from estimate through completion. We scheduled a new roof in August to get our house ready to move and when the roof was being put on they didn't tarp it correctly and and we received a heavy down pour in our house . almost 12,000 in damages in three seprate rooms. We received two reports from a mold company and an adjustment company . John the owner took responsibility and said he'd fix what was damaged and long story short he didn't. They did a hack job and it should of been a red flag when it didn't pass inspection by the city the first time but we believed John and his contractor mike were good people and trusted they would keep there word. I am definitely not the one to write reviews it honestly makes me sick doing it. but we reached out and tried to work with them for months . So I want to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. My husband had to leave for his job in Michigan my son and I are here trying to pick up the pieces . They did a horrible patch job and never came back to finish Like promise. So many more details and videos and text messages but honestly, it's not worth my time ! Five Star Posted Just a horrible experience. Please look at…read morethe 1 and 2 star reviews. The vast majority of those other experiences align VERY closely with mine. Read those reviews before you decide on Five Star. I wish I had. On to the horror story... I wanted both powered fans (I already owned these) and also ridge vent in case of a power outage. They installed the fans but no ridge vent. They also didn't refund me or my insurance when they hauled off all that unused ridge vent. The fans aren't even installed properly because they're partially covered by plywood and 2x4s. Why would they even install it there? See picture. They pounded the drip edge on so hard that it dented the fascia and left a black spot. They left tire marks in my driveway and nails that I'm still picking up 3 months later. They screwed up my kitchen lights by dropping stuff into my attic and damaging the cans. See picture. On about May 7 (only a couple days after installation), I called to tell Robert about these issues and he said he'd have it fixed. He didn't. On May 17, I texted Robert for a wind mitigation recommendation AND I thought it would jog his memory about the driveway and drip edge. No response. Five Star called demanding payment and I said the job wasn't done. She told me she'd get someone on it. She didn't. Time passed and some snotty rude manager named Justin Ely called demanding payment a week or so later. I said the job wasn't done. He must have contacted Robert for details because a FULL MONTH LATER, Robert finally responded to that May 17 text on June 18. We'll get there soon. After listening to Justinand his condescending nonsense, I wanted to be done with these people and their incompetence, poor communication, awful follow-up, horrendous accounting, greedy attitude, the damage, and simple misunderstandings being blown completely out of proportion. To avoid Justin, I told Robert in the attached text that I was very unhappy and offered to handle everything myself if he'd just take off $1500 from this $30,000 insurance job that was obviously inflated. I have 3 out of pocket quotes that range from $16-$24k. This message was sent at about noon. Robert didn't respond at all. I called the next morning at about 10AM. No answer. 8 or 9 hours later, he had still not responded and I called the office. When Robert finally called back, he informed me that they double charged me for permits and extra decking. So they're demanding payment with snotty Justin and they don't even have their numbers right. Robert said he shared my text and then got Justin in on a 3 way call. I told Justin I was disgusted with all of this and mentioned the $1500 to just be done, give a good review, and I'd pay immediately. He got all upset, accused me of extortion, and threatened to sue me if I withheld payment. Justin told me his only goal is to make money. He asked if I ever give up any of my commissions and laughed when I said it's only happened twice in 25 years, but I will absolutely do right by my client even if it costs me money. Customer satisfaction is so much more important than mine. He then told me he'd also sue me if I told my neighbor about this. My neighbor signed up for a $30K roof on my recommendation. Seems like a good reason to try to make a me happy! On top of that, I'm also a Realtor who gets asked for contractor recommendations VERY routinely. If my roofer hadn't retired, I wouldn't have been calling Five Star. Now, I just remind the other 397 Realtors at my office that they should not be recommending or using Five Star. In the end, I got excuses and a $100 wind mitigation report out of them. They got a bunch of free material for another job. And I had to repair my own drip edge, fascia, lights, fans, and driveway. I'm so glad to be done with Justin's rollercoaster of incompetence and foul language. Until Justin got involved (after the text I posted), it was completely salvageable and polite. He's the problem. Jacob's Roofing is one of the most disrespectful companies I've ever since. He did my roof six…read moreyears ago and at the time on the last day up my total by $4,000 and threaten to put a lien on my house if I didn't pay. I paid it but little did I know the terrible work his crew had done. I had know him from minor repairs years before and expected him to be at least here most of the time his crew was. He was barely on site. Francis the owner was cheap and cut every corner possible which is why after six years I'm writing this. My fascia boards are rotting because he didn't want to spend the little extra money to do it right. With fascia board you should put a 1x2 directly behind where the face of the metal drip line lays so the water doesn't ROT YOUR FASCIA BOARDS!!! My home is old and had this extra trim on part of it but not all. I overheard the foreman and him talking a couple of times and in my gut knew something was shady. Indeed there was. His disregard for my overpaid roof is causing me a lot of trouble now. To those of you that gave Francis and his company five stars... just wait, you'll see. This is a terrible company that I totally regret paying for his workers to stay in Ocala to do my roof. That's how much I thought of him. What a mistake.
